Shush! Shoe thought, panicked.

The crashing noises increased in frequency and were getting closer.

But--

Beosta was confused. She hurried into one of the rooms and hid behind the door.

"Someone's still here," said Erif, pushing through the vines and walking over to the partially-open door and pushing it open.

Inside, a glasses-wearing man sat hunched over a small screen. He was muttering to himself, too quietly to be heard. He made no response as Erif entered.

"Hey," said Erif. "Do you know where I can find the Inspector?"

Sequence warily peeked in around Erif's shoulder, leaning on her Narrationblade in the form of a cane.

The man turned. From this angle it became apparent that what had appeared to be his glasses were actually twin crystals extending back into his eye sockets.

"Ah!" he said. "Yes. That is me, the inspector. What can I do for you...?" He adjusted the rims of his 'glasses'. "Oh! Erif! I-"

He was interrupted by Erif pointing a sword at him. "You trapped my family in a time loop," he snarled. "Explain yourself."

No doors in this hallway. All the room are open. Also I'm going to assume everyone is hidden at this point.

Shoe hid in a room just as something enormous came clomping into the hallway.

It resembled a suit of armor, but with no gaps, as if it were one piece of smooth metal. It stopped in the middle of the hallway and stood completely still, not moving in the slightest.

Then it turned around and headed back into the other hallway.

When he was sure it was gone, Shoe peaked out and began walking down the hallway again. Faster this time.

Scud. This was scary.

Shoe ran out of the hallway (pigeons were decided slow runners), and turned right, then ran that way.

Almost there.

I'm sure everything 'll work out. That's how anime plot lines always work, thought Natsu.

Sorry, y'all. I'm so brain dead rn it's not even funny

Shoe heard someone talking just down the hallway. Whoever it was seemed to be getting closer, so he ducked into another room.

I believe we are now getting to the point in which either we sneak past however it is or we get jumped from behind.

Spoiler

just saying, that's what normally happens in these situations

Natsu follows.

Tull had been following them. He looked at the screen the man was studying.

Ista was studying the vines. They were really interesting. She decided not to taste them, though. Might be poison.

The screen was covered in symbols presumably only intelligible to the inspector.

The black veins on the vines were larger now.

"I, I," stuttered the inspector. "Oh, dear..."

"How do I reverse it?" demanded Erif, pushing the sword closer. "Tell me how to bring them back."

The inspector sighed, slumping in his chair. "You can't. I can't. I've tried."

"Shark the vines!" snarled Erif. "What do you mean you can't reverse it? You were the one who set it up in the first place!"

Okay, gonna do my best now *yawn*

Suddenly, the voice stopped, and a women walked into the hallway.

Why are the lights on? she said to someone out of view, her voice reverberating off the walls. She looked back into the hallway. Is there someone there?

I want to give a few of you some time to react just because I'm tired and other stuff

Beosta stepped closer to Shoe. She didn't think the non-voice sounded scary, but judging by how nervous he was...

The woman walked through the hallway, a suspicious look on her face.

I know there's something in here, she said to no one in particular, peeking into the first few doorways but not seeing anything. Then she turned and listened to someone behind her.

Let me see, she said to the person in the other hallway, walking out.

Shoe breathed a shaky sigh or relief.
