Huh. I need to figure out what I'm doing with my characters, I enjoy the hemalurgic guinea pig but ig it's complicated, I could bring Aero or Nyks back, probably not Silas, or I could bring in someone else, perhaps Lillian?
Though Silas didn't get enough time, I'll bring him back.

There was a hardly audible pop, Silas was back. "Oh." Silas said, looking at his hands. "I'm back... here..."

Livetha chittered, reached inside, and hauled out another stoat with her teeth.

The stoat resisted with many angry chitters, but eventually Livetha had perched next to her on a branch. The unfamiliar stoat regarded them all haughtily, then turned to lick her shoulder.

Yrank suspected the quest would be quick, more so accounting the spring in Livetha's step, but this, this was unbelievable.

The animal placed on the branch was similar to its 'liberator' in the fact that it was a small and weasel-like. It was smaller than Livetha, yet seemed more restless, appearing as if it was trying to groom its entire body in under a minute.

Yrank stepped closer, slowly, but not quite steadily, as an audible crack in his knees threw the old man off balance, falling down on to said joints, prompting a flinch of the stoat's head. It had to be her, it had to be Castom.

She had aged better than he did, although her red fur and yellow paws were dimmer, almost sickly in a way. "Hey pal, do you remember me? He had a mighty moustache and vast beard, all of which had been greyed, yet he hoped from the bottom of his heart that she recalled their friendship.

The stoat stared at him for a minute. Her eyes narrowed and she sniffed the air carefully.

Yes, that scent was familiar.

Warily, she hopped down from the tree.

She hadn't seen him in years.

"Hey, hey, there we go" Yrank muttered. His heart was beating rapidly. What if he screwed up? What if Castom didn't even remember him? She inched closer, stepping her soft yellow paws onto the the ground, ever so slowly closing the distance between them.

She stopped, then stared at him for a second, beady eyes filled with a defensive stare. He reached out, attempting to connect with his apparent old friend. The stoat recoiled before his hand travelled more than an inch. He closed his eyes, sighing. Of course she didn't recognise him, it was decades ago, not to mention that this was a stupid idea to begin with-

Something small and furry found itself in his hand. He opened his eyes. Castom was actually smiling!

"Ha, would look at that, she remembers me!" Yrank exclaimed, making sure his friends saw. "Hey get over here, she remembers me!" he called out to Bacon, who was further away than the others and seemed to be talking to someone.

Yrank had felt the happiest he'd felt in decades.

Beosta grinned at him. "Nice." Hey! My voice. Sweet. "Good for you guys."

"I'm so sorry for everything," Yrank said. "I'll make sure we stay together, no matter what happens." Castom merely spun around, as energetic as she was all those years ago.

"Hey Beosta," Yrank said, unaware of her current speaking ability, "how precisely can she talk to me again? We were on the verge of a bond before we unfortunately split paths, but it at least let us communicate to some extent."

"Even with a bond, it's not like talking. It's just practice. Body language, mostly, but the bond helps a little with it. My stoat happens to be a Narrator, so we can communicate better."

Oh, stars, poor Shoe.

Hey, Livetha, why don't you give him his voice?

{Don't want to,} the stoat replied to her mind.

Why??

{Don't want to.} She spun around in a circle, then used her magical narration to completely dry Shoe off.

Shoe noticed he was suddenly dry. Huh. Nice.

He wondered which of the narrators did that.

You would find it . . . very hard to give Shoe his voice back by just narrating it like that.

I shall say nothing more on the matter.

Beosta sidled up. "What do you think of all this?"

"How is everyone a Narrator all of a sudden?" he mumbled, shifting his focus back to Castom who was running between his legs. Narrators were getting more powerful by the minute, and Yrank knew that it was mostly for the worst. Yrank realised that the world was changing and could do nothing about that. He just hoped that when it hatched from it chrysalis of war and suffering, it would be a place worth living in. In any case, it was definitely not the right place or time to dwell on such thoughts, rather, he should savour the time he has with his friends.

Yrank didn't know a lot about the bond between the person and their 'familiar', but he'd heard stories of how pairs have achieved greatness together, and some even going as far as to kill someone for their animal. "I've heard that a bond is a symbiotic relationship of sorts. I didn't understand much back then, but now I'm wondering, what will the bond do, and just as important, what can Castom do?"

“Castom regulates the bond between you. She can give you strength or energy or whatever, and take it from you. Both get heightened instincts, and a boost in speed and dexterity, depending on the animal.”

"Incredible!" he cried. "Well then," swinging an arm around Shoe and Beosta, "where to now?" He didn't know where this influx of energy came from, but he certainly knew why. And it probably had to do with the stoat chasing Livetha, an absurd animal-like smile on her face.

“Dunno.” Beosta politely (she hoped) slipped out of his grasp. “Livetha and I have to work on our final.”

I think it's wonderful that Yrank was able to find his bondmate again.

He stared off into the distance for a moment.

I wonder how long they've been apart?

I know. Just saying I wouldn’t even try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

“Looks like a long time. Years at least.”

I may be back for one more post depending. Also cast your vote for or against something potentially awkward but potentially hilarious.

If it's going to do with Beosta simping hard for TLT's oblivious little muffin man Shoe, then I'd probably choose the former, which will probably spill into the latter. (Honestly it feels like that's what's happening, feel free to correct me. Just saying it's written well. :P)

Wait… isn’t lettuce the rabbit?

also, there are a lot of rabbits. I’m going to add my old one in for fun. (Not the one Jilu ate, though. My first ever character, the Lord of the Colour Blue)

Out of the blue, a blue rabbit appeared, speaking to the party, his words emitting blue sound waves. “Why do you intrude upon this space which I call my home?”
