“Very well.” The false wrath fell away from the old man’s face, replaced by an expression of regret. “I had hoped it would not come to this, but… well, we shall have to see how well you can face me this time

The old man raised his staff, then swung it towards the ground. In front of him, the crowd of goblins split, shoved aside by his invisible helpers.

”Go! The time to flee is now. I will hold their attention.”

He swung his staff to the side, a wave of invisible force following after it, swallowing buildings and goblins alike and leaving shattered remnants and nibbled foes in its wake.

“Come! See the fruits of my labors these years past! I will not fail here as I did before!”

Shoe shrieked as a small band of goblins leapt out of the shadows. He kicked a few of them away and kept running. He heard the others on his tail.

Despite the forces unseen puhing aganst the Goblins, the large Goblin resitsed, holding a spear. the spear.

Nogard and the rest stumbled into a clearing up a hill overlooking the battle.

Nogard took a moment to catch his breath. Then he noticed the spear. He sighed. "Of course."

Shoe threw a muffin into the crowd of goblins.

Nogard's stomach rumbled as he watched the muffin fall, but he restrained himself.

Shoe heard this and gave Nogard a muffin as well.

Nogard brightened, scarfing down the muffin. "Thanks!"

He looked upon the battle with renewed optimism.

"Do you suppose," he mused, "we could steal the spear from that goblin?"

"We better get that goblin!"Nogard said, gasping.

He picked up a rock and hurled it in the goblin leader's direction.

The Goblin held out the spear, Twisting and catching the rock, then whirling it back by the point of the spear. He looked incredulously at it.

"Because we chose it! That's how it is with quests, right? You pick one and see it through to completion. Then you pick another one. And then you finish that one, and... well, you get the idea."

He swung his staff in a circle, forming an invisible tornado of rabbits and sending it spinning through the horde of goblins towards the spear holder.

Imagine the out-of-context possibilities

Shoe wondered if the invisible creatures were really rabbits. How did the old man know they were rabbits...?

Anyway, he ran through the hole the invisible tornado had created in the goblins forces directly towards the goblin with the Spear. He threw an extra sticky muffin, which stuck to the goblins face and prevented him from seeing Shoe as he got closer.

Shoe kicked the goblin in the back of the head as he turned towards the sound of the rock and grabbed the Spear. He held it up and waved it triumphantly as he ran back towards everyone else.

Nogard let out a cheer."Way to go, Shoe!"

He hopped down and started to jog over.

"Can you tell what it does?" he asked.

Shoe shook his head and frantically continued running.

Behind him, the goblin forces were chasing him with renewed... well, force.
