The Bookwyrm he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Rym walked over to where the muttering was, with the adorable grub still attached to his foot.
The Wandering Wizard he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 The grub ran up Rym's sleeve and hid inside.
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 This muttering was Cucumber beard, speaking to a figure cloaked in shadows. "-ave him the scroll. Of course he doesn't, you think I don't know how to do my job? There's no need to worry. Everything will be fine."
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Rym told the Adorable Grub to be quiet, then snuck up and continued eavesdropping. He tried to get a good look at who Cucumber Beard was talking to.
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 (edited) The mysterious figure remained stubbornly cloaked in shadow, but Rym did get close enough to hear his next words, a rasping whisper. "You must handle him carefully my servant. If he but suspects our plan, all that we have worked for these many years will be lost. There can be no loose ends." Edited September 7, 2022 by Nameless
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Just now, Nameless said: Bookwyrm You mean Rym. Well...that can't be good, Rym thought. He sent a quick message to his Narrator informing him of the situation, then continued eavesdropping.
The Wandering Wizard he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 2 minutes ago, The Bookwyrm said: quick message to his Narrator informing him of the situation, then continued eavesdropping. The message failed to send through the dimensions.
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Mythos had translated the scroll almost perfectly, oblivious to the threatening way the cucumber beard was talking about him with the shadow man. Mythos smiled happily. Suddenly, he felt goosebumps on his arm. He stood up, alarmed. Something was wrong... he could feel it.
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Just now, The Bookwyrm said: You mean Rym. Yeah, woops. As Rym sent the message to Bookwyrm, the dark figure glanced sharply towards the bookcase Rym was hiding behind, and his voice sharpened as he spoke. "Servant, I see my trust in you was misplaced. We shall meet again soon to speak of your penance. For now, I must go." He vanished into the shadows, leaving behind only a faint scent of strawberries.
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Mythos frowned, the scroll rippled in his fingers. This was... wrong, what was happening?
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Then the rippling subsided, and all was right again.
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Or it was, until a big ripple formed with blue sparks coming from it. A blue cloaked figure walked in. Soulmover looked around, "what are you doing here?" he asked Mythos. Mythos blinked, "the chess piece opened into here."
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Cucumber beard approached, seeming a little upset about something. "Have you deciphered the scroll, heir?"
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Rym barged in and tackled Cucumber beard. "Don't listen to him!" he told Mythos. "He's working for a mysterious being!"
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Mythos held a hand at Rym, "I have made excellent progress, cucumber beard. And I think I understand what my father was trying to tell me."
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Cucumber beard fuzzed mistily, causing Rym to fall through him and land flat on his face. "Mysterious being? Oh dear. I have no idea what you're talking about." Turning to Mythos, he nodded eagerly. "You've actually decrypted it? Pray tell, what message does it bring?"
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 "Not to trust slimy cucumber fellows." Mythos grabbed Cucumber beard's throat and held him up, he punched them in the gut with his other hand.
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Cucumber beard gasped painfully, struggling for air as he hung limply in Mythos' grip. "I-*gak*-assure you my friend, I mean no ill will. Please, t-tell me what I have done to offend you so."
The Bookwyrm he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Rym stood up. "Ow," he said. "I need to get better at that."
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Mythos glared at Cucumber beard, "you know what I'm talking about, you slimy fermented bit of vegetable. Was that Eof you were talking to over there?"
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Cucumber beard sputtered nervously, "I-who? Never heard of him. Please tell me, what message did you father leave you?"
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 "The message was one I'd rather not tell you, cucumber." He let them fall to the floor.
NameIess Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Cucumber gasped for breath, scrambling to his feet. "Please, master Mythos, I know nothing of that man. I wish only to help the heir along his rightful path."
The Wandering Wizard he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 This however was a massive mistake.
Thaidakar the Ghostblood he/him Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Mythos smiled, "I see... Well, you have found the heir. Whether or not you mean my father's heir or Thaidakar's heir I do not know. Now, what did you wish to guide me to, Cucumber beard?"
