Their rivalry went way back.

Also can i say i am so proud to be a part of the making of the hemalurgic cookies backstory

Then, the author decided to write a prequel to the backbackstory, which became a backbackbackstory. Then, since the author was Brandon Sanderson, he decided to write a prequel to that prequel. That was the backbackbackbackstory.

That story began at the beginning of time, when the great Brandy Venture took it upon himself to make a clock.
