taliefer Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Oh dear god, 2025? That sounds like a date from some far off sci-fi! I'll be 34 then... Dear god. I wish I had a Cadmium bubble... im 34 now...it aint so bad 6
Dihatimus Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I love the fact that we are already looking forward to books 12 years from now. 12...years...and we are not even factoring in the 10 more years to finish SA, then another 6 for another MB trilogy to finish that up. throw in another WB and a half dozen other books in the cosmere probably. I will be well into my 70's before I find closure. Brandon, you started this mess. You have to write faster than that. Hell, I'll be your assistants assistant if neccessary. 1
Meerletalis Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 im 34 now...it aint so bad ... and I am 54 now. You have not got it bad at all. 6
Rybal Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 According to Peter here's the release schedule: Book 3: Fall 2016 Book 4-5: Fall 2018, and Fall 2020. Mistborn trilogy break, and then Book 6 2025, or 2026 I'll be old by then. Nevermind, Journey before destination. Really? Because Brandon said at a recent signing that he was expecting the next book to be released at the end of next year (2015). He also said he was aiming for an 18 month release schedule, at least until the first set of five was complete. Apparently, there's also an in-world gap of 10 years between the sets of five. When he announced that, he didn't say that that time gap was in-world. He said "then, there's a 10-year break". Sitting in the front row, I apparently looked like I was going to have a heart attack when he said that, because he mentioned that as he clarified himself. 2

I literally lol'd at your "then, there's a 10-year break" response. Classic. Thank you for sharing.
trevorwilliam Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Man... Having to wait for new releases while he works on legion/steelheart/rithmatist books is like a kick in the nuts. The books are good.. BUT THEY AREN'T COSMERE RELATED. /explode
+eveorjoy she/her Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Man... Having to wait for new releases while he works on legion/steelheart/rithmatist books is like a kick in the nuts. The books are good.. BUT THEY AREN'T COSMERE RELATED. /explode That is one of the reasons he writes the cosmere so well. Taking breaks to write non-cosmere works keeps his cosmere books fresh. I don't want him to get burnt out on writing SA books. It would reflect in the quality of the work. WoR was so awesome because he took a break and wrote other things in between.

The reality might be somewhere inbetween their two ideas.
Lopen Skybreaker he/him Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 End of next year is still 20 months away, it's a perfectly reasonable wait. That's not to say it'll be easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it still beats the wait for Martin to finish the next asoiaf
soulcastJam he/him Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You may have noticed that he finished the 3rd draft of Sixth of the Dusk. Bring on the Cosmere! 1
soulcastJam he/him Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 A draft of an excerpt is in the shardhunt. I actually thought the 3rd draft thing on his site was an April fools joke, but it's still up today, so here's hoping! =) Here's the link for the excerpt: http://brandonsanderson.com/sixth-of-the-dusk/
AerionBFII he/him Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 damnation i will have probably been hit by a bus by fall 2016 or something :'( 1
ayew he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Unless Brandon veers off from his usual speed, maybe a late 2015/early 2016 - no Wheel of Time to eat up his attention this time around. The man is a machine. If a headline came out tomorrow that read, Police bust writing sweatshop full of prolific author clones, a lot of people would probably just nod and say, "Well, that explains a lot." I agree. That is awesome!
Popular Post PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted May 22, 2014 Recently we have been hoping March 2016 for the release, but it all depends on when Brandon finishes the book, of course (and he hasn't started writing it yet). Fall 2015 ain't gonna happen. 17
Terisen he/him Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 March 2016. Dang. So long to wait. I shall be patient. He'll still probably beat Rothfuss to release though... 1
Delightful Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 March 2016. Dang. So long to wait. I shall be patient. He'll still probably beat Rothfuss to release though... Also, I believe we're getting Firefight, Rithmatist 2 and Sixth of the Dusk in meantime, so we're actually rather spoiled on release dates. Still. I think we're becoming like Kaladin - Stormlight addicts. 2
AerionBFII he/him Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) I'm a huge fan of brandon sanderson and the Cosmere but the rithmatist and steel heart are not really my thing but I will defo be reading Dusk Did WOR really only come out in March?? I've read it 6 times haha Edited May 27, 2014 by WEZ313

I've read it 6 times haha I rather liked The Rithmatist. I was not as cliche as most YA and I thought it was an entertaining read. I got through it in 3 days I am kind of looking forward to read more about Joel our geeky non-rithmatist.
Gabriele she/her Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 March 2016. Dang. So long to wait. I shall be patient. He'll still probably beat Rothfuss to release though... Maybe he can race Martin's Winds of Winter. Should be easy for a shardpen holding windwriterunner. 1
Aleksiel Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 At this rate Brandon will probably finish The Stormlight Archive before Martin completes ASoIaF... 1
Gabriele she/her Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Esp. if that monster turns into 8 books. Martin says he tries not to, but judging by the last two installments the world has grown to an extent I would not be surprised. Except he kills pretty much everyone in Winds.

The most important ones are still there.
Gabriele she/her Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Hey, you're not allowed to travel forth in time and read books not yet published. It could prove dangerous. 17th sharders may capture and torture you for information.

It could prove dangerous. 17th sharders may capture and torture you for information. I say we take them and make them tell us about White Sand and Stormlight 3. And future Super Bowl winners. For, you know, academic purposes. Not for betting or anything....
