I think I am here. he/him Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I... Honestly don't know. I remember when I was first registering my username on the Shard, and I remember trying to cycle through my mind and find a good username. In short, I was overthinking it. I managed to set myself a stupid existential crisis for a name, partly because I didn't know what else to put in the username box, partly because I wasn't sure if I'd stay around for long on the Shard, which I did, thankfully. Anyway, that name eventually got shortened to 'ITIAH' by Leyrann because writing 'I think I am here.' each time you wanted to mention me took a while. From there, 'ITIAH' became 'Itiah', and now I go by Itiah, despite my original username still reminding me of that stupid time where I overthought usernames. Anyway, I wouldn't have it changed.
KalaDANG he/him Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Yeah. Basically I just imagine every time that Kaladin swears an ideal and explodes with stormlight. Daaaaaaaang. 3
Shaukan-son-Hasweth he/him Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 I aleays remember weird and unnecessary background stuff from books i just read and get hung up on them. So my username is a genderbent version of Shauka-daughter-Haseth the infamous logicmaster of Shinovar. I initially toyed with something Terris or a traditional Elakin name associated with Birthorder and time of birth.
+Ark1002 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 I made this username for a online game when I was really little, because I had just been taught about internet safety. So Ark1002 was born. And i've used it ever since.

I think I’ve figured out why you chose your username @Ark1002. If you rearrange the letters in ‘Hello, I exist, I am the best’ it spells ‘He exit, Sith beast lol. e’. This is obviously a coded message displaying your love of leaving, Star Wars, and Euler's number. When combined, those three things make a 2.718 Luke Skywalkers. To achieve this effect, one would require Luke to look in a little over two mirrors. Which, as anyone who’s ever been in one of those elevators knows, creates an infinity mirror. And who uses that effect? Disney in Space Mountain. Disney owns Lucasfilm, which means that they own the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise (unfortunately). So, they have ownership of Raiders of the Lost Ark, thus explaining the first part of your name. But the number still remains unaccounted for, until one remembers that in the year 1002 BCE, Alice of Normandy was born. Her son was Montmorot Thibert, who according to historians, ‘did exit the womb, look like a Sith beast (whence upon he was scorned with the out-loud laughter of the proles) and live for 2.17 years before his untimely death’[citation needed]. It seems so obvious when you think about it. Your username is a reminder of your love for obscure Normans and multiple Skywalkers. Welcome to the Shard! 3
Furamirionind They/Any/All Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 (edited) I have 3 tags I usually go by: "Monkeyman5733" (created when I was 8 as I love monkeys. The number is just something I thought sounded good. Took me ~15 minutes to come up with that number specifically) "DesignerLoki" (auto generated for me by X-box live. I identified with it, so kept it for certain accounts) "Furamirionind" - My current one. I made this one about a year ago as I was (and am) unhappy with how uncreative and unoriginal the other names were. I love role playing and strategy games, and always played as an Elf (when possible). So I looked up a Sindarin-English dictionary, found the words: 'Fura', 'Mirion', & 'Ind' Fura - means "Lie" Mirion - means "Jewel" (is associated with my IRL name) Ind - means "Inner thought, mind, meaning, heart" All of these words involve things I associate with my character (both personally and RP)... So I just smashed the words together and called it my name. : ) Though, it is a mouthful to say... So I am trying to think of ways to simplify it... My current thought is to make it, "Furamiriind"/"Furamireind". Edited August 30, 2018 by Sprinoirim
Johhny_Eastland he/him Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Well I've been using this username for everything for what... a little over a decade now? (God I'm old lol). Oh the story is quite lame. I put my full name into an anagram maker back in the early days of Facebook (it was an early app on the site). But anyway it output Johnny Rook Eastland. I dropped the Rook and thought that it would be easy for people in the FPS community (I played a lot at the time, still do) to shout hey Johnny than whatever dumb name I would have made. Plus Eastland sounded a lot like Eastwood, and Clint Eastwood is my favorite actor. Kinda lame lol
Ink he/him Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 New entry here: After Prof and Quell, I got a Switch and Splatoon 2. I thought: huh, wonder what is that little spirit thing that comes out of the inkling when they are splatted is called. Me being a sanderfan, called it a spren. Laughed at my own joke (that I made in my head, not out loud) for a while, getting a few awkward glances from friends, then realized that an Inklingspren would make a good username. Hence: me.
Messydesk Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 My current username (Messydesk) is a rather recent one since I needed a name to use on an instagram account I made for my handcrafts. I don't like to use my full actual name anywhere online apart from my resume. Messydesk is quite literal and refers to my desk being always messy no matter how often I organize it. I thought it would be easier to keep it clean if I had a separate desk for my handcrafts from my desk for PC and drawings. Now I have two messy desks. Sooo I decided to embrace the creative chaos. I also intend to stick to this username for longer than any of my previous ones. (Also, since Messydesk is a bit long to sign any of the illustrations I make I usually just shorten it to MdA and the year of the drawing, A refers to Art here.) Other older usernames I have used and were kinda fond of are ScytheDancer, my very first username online I think, picked that one since DancingBlade (reference to Smash Bros Melee) was taken and I liked scythes at the time. Well, still do. I also used NorthChild a lot which referred to my location in the world, and my current username in Guild Wars 2 is a shorter version of that: Northy. Then I realized it sounds like "Naughty" so I now just use my first name when I play with my friends and guildies. I've always been a bit jealous to people who have been able to stick to only one username, I have a friend who has been using her artist name ever since I met her in high school. 1
Shallan's Ward he/him Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 (edited) Well, the one that I have been using on the forums, should be fairly obvious. I fancy myself a scholar, and thus have named myself the student of my favorite scholar character. I do rather like my name! Edited September 7, 2018 by Shallan's Ward 1
Silva Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 (edited) I did not realize this thread was a thing, but cool. Like a lot of people, my username has no connection at all to my real name. It’s more of a combination of two things. 1. The name Silvia. I used that name in one of my first stories and have always liked it. 2. Silver, the metal. It always bothers me how silver has no Allomantic or Feruchemical ability. Ever since reading Mistborn I’ve been partial to it. So ‘Silva,’ depending on how you look at it, could either be the name Silvia misspelled without an ‘i’ or silver pronounced by someone who can’t say their ‘r’s. EDIT: It turns out that Silva is also a common last name for Sephardic Jews. While I myself am not Sephardi, I am Jewish, so that is an interesting unintentional connection. Brightness Warrior she/her Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Two of the largest parts of my soul, Stormlight and Mistborn. Brightness because that's what highborn women are called, and Warrior because Vin came to be known as the Ascendant Warrior. 1
