After releasing The Last Jedi (biggest thing left this year after Oathbringer), Rian Johnson will start the work on an entirely new trilogy of Star Wars movies. Thoughts on this? Are you excited, or is it too much? Should Star Wars rest?

For me, the more the better.  I like the 1 per year track they're on.

I'm worried about a quality drop.  I would rather get quality movies, then yearly movies.

I think they can still make good quality movies, but it depends on what you're talking about. Story quality is the one to be worried about, not the actual film quality in my opinion. I think in the new Disney regime, they've got a good track record so far, at least in my opinion. They fire the directors that aren't doing what they envisioned, and I very much enjoyed The Force Awakens and Rogue One.

As long as they take the opportunity to experiment with other genres that just happen to be set in the Star Wars universe.  In my opinion, Rogue One felt too much like a Star Wars movie.  I think I wanted an Oceans 11 style heist movie instead.

Depending on how good ep. 8 is I will be pretty excited for this. With Rian's track record on movies I'm cautiously optimistic. Should be good to finally get to tell some new stories in the bigger Galaxy/universe.

Agreed. They need to expand and build something new. So far, Disney Star Wars is bogged down with repetition of old ideas and images.

I don’t know how to feel. While I do think that they need to expand the Star Wars Universe more since they erased from canon most of the things we knew(I’m still pissed about that), but I also think there’s just way too much going on with Star Wars. I mean, how are they going to do three storming trilogies at the same time. So, it would be cool to explore more the Disney SW universe, but I’m worried this may cause a decline in quality. I think we are better off staying with the Skywalker saga, and then have some spinoffs here and there, like Rogue One.

You will likely see the quality dip in the Solo film. I’m still not happy with that choice. I suspect he may do Old Republic era. I also really want/hope Knight Errant time gets explored(if it survives NU) cause that has endless story possibilities. It’s the Dark Ages of SW

Depends on how good Ep. 8 is. I didn’t really enjoy 7 much at all, but Rogue One was good. Stuff from the Old Republic would interest me.

No, it's fine. I just think they should focus on the Skywalker family. I think Disney is rushing into things. I believe we should only have three anthology movies and one sequel trilogy.
