+Extesian he/him Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Hemalurgy will steal the part of your spirit web that gives access to the magic system (bypassing the Initiation aspect) but Sel magics (you my knowledge, all of them) draw on the Dor. The Dor is reaped 3 in the Cognitive Realm, which is location dependent, which is why Sel magic can't be accessed off-world. The investiture you need to draw on is actually on Sel. A spike that makes you into an Elantrian (which is possible, but we have noo idea what metal would do it - atium is the most likely though) won't feel location dependence as actual Elantrians can't access the Dor offworld. You need to actually bring the investiture with you, as it appears the IRE did, or hack the system so you can power your newfound powers with a different source of investiture.
Beast_c_a_t Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 We see Demoux on Roshar in the Purelake interlude, and he most likely has a hemalurgic earring to contact Harmony with.

I find it funny when people use "most likely" when talking about some theory they have with literally zero proof.

The earrings are a part of the Pathian religion. Demoux was one of the first members of the church of the Survivor. Unless that's changed, why would he have an earring? He's a member of the Seventeenth Shard, which is a group committed to keeping the Shards apart, why we he be acting on another world in the employ of one of them? And finally, Sazed uses the Kandra as his eyes and ears, if there are worldhoppers working directly for him, I'm guessing that's what we're looking for. 3
The One Who Connects he/him Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 On 8/10/2017 at 2:19 PM, Confused said: The squires refer to the corrupted spren’s “escort” and try to keep it from linking with what I believe is a dead Greatshell. That linkage results in the Thunderclast. This is incorrect. Thunderclasts are animated Stone, not reanimated corpses, making them far closer to Awakening than anything else. Quote Q: Are Thunderclasts just Voidspren animating dead Greatshells that have bee turned to stone by crem, kind of like Kalad's army? And could light eyes who have been turned to stone by soul casters be reanimated, either by Vasher or by Voidspren? A: Thunderclasts are animating stone itself. Reanimating someone turned to stone would be more easy than simply animating the stone, but animating stone is tough, so that's not saying much.
