Mysty she/her Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I preordered the Steelheart ebook from barnes and noble, and it was available to download right at midnight. but for technical reasons I couldn't get it to actually download onto my nook until 1am (time in PST). I would assume for nook books at least, you have to wait until midnight in your own timezone.
Meg Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) I've been musing about how to get WoR as fast as possible, too. Getting an/the ebook is no option for me, I want the real book. I've just had a look at bookdepository.com. It says the delivery time to Europe is 7 to 10 days. Does this, in this case, mean 7 to 10 days from March 4th? Does anybody know? Will the shippings to bookstores in other countries (especially Germany ) start soon enough to get the book here on March 4th, too? I'm so excited . edit: I'm not talking about the German version, only about the original Tor-book. Edited February 6, 2014 by Meg
FingerstyleFunk he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 So, if I preorder the book on amazon or barnes and nobles, will it come March 4th in the AM or am I better off you going to a bookstore to get it? EDIT: I live in the U.S. if that helps answering the question If you preorder the physical book on Amazon and get two-day shipping (either through Prime or paying whatever they charge normally) they'll give you Release-Day Delivery and it should show up on the 4th, whenever UPS normally drops off your packages. Usually sometime in the afternoon for me. If you're really lucky (close to the right Amazon warehouse?) and the package makes it through UPS's system faster than expected, you might end up getting it on the 3rd. That's for Amazon customers in the US only. No idea how it works for other retailers like B&N or anyone outside the US.
Cromptj he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I ordered from Amazon.com to the UK and the shipping said that it was 8-14 days after release, so it's probably the same for the bookdepository. 1
ryanespi Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Only semi related, but does anyone know if I can change my amazon account to say I live on the east coast or in the UK instead of California can I get the e-book early or will it go off where my IP address is routed to.
masaru Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Tor said they will be sending us the ebook to review, but that hasn't happened yet. Our goal is for the ebook art to be as good as possible. Some of it will be in color. The ebook won't be split in any English-speaking country. By the way, The Emperor's Soul and Legion are now finally available on Google Play in the US and Canada. And there's something special in the Google Play version of The Emperor's Soul. (Though, it will make its way to all the versions eventually.) That's really cool to hear. I hope the iBooks version would have these color pages as well. My only complaint about the iBooks version of WOK is that the art doesn't fill the page and the resolution is a bit too lower to zoom in much.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 ryan, apparently on Kindle it will come out per EST no matter where you live. It's only on a Nook that we have a report of the release date obeying timezones.
Cromptj he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Plus the book doesn't come out until 6th March in the UK
Alexander Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Does anyone know when the book will be delivered in Canada via amazon?
ryanespi Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Thanks Peter I guess 9pm on the 3rd will have to do. There is no way I will be able to wait till my hardback copy arrives mid day, and I don't think I am in good enough shape for a marathon reading session for that behemoth of a book anyways. My arms hurt just looking at it, thank god for my kindle.

Flipkart says out of stock at the moment. I had some trouble with flipkart while getting my pre order of FIFA 13 as I missed out on many pre order packs due to delay in delivery by more than a week. So skeptical about their ability to deliver on time.

Flipkart app shows two hardcovers for WoR. One some 600INR lesser than imported edition. And it says 17-18days. I'm gonna go for eBook version as I can't wait for 3weeks to get the book in my hands. Would literally go crazy if I wait that long. Get the eBook version then get hardcover for the leisurely second re read would be how I would be doing it! Thanks anyway.

Wit Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I ordered the hardcover from Flipkart in India, it says the book will be delivered by 5th March for me.
don_karma_II he/him Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I ordered the hardcover from Flipkart in India, it says the book will be delivered by 5th March for me. Wow..For me it says 17-18 days. 5th march seems a bit dodgy! The WoR comes out in India by 6th March. If it is really delivered by 5th March then you're one lucky guy! I envy you..
Neru he/him Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Do you guys know if BookDepository will send the book ON March 4th or with ETA on March 4th? My situation is kinda worse than Karmas and Kals.... I live in Brazil, and am probably one of 5 other people who read tWoK...Shipping here is always a problem, usually takes waaaay to looooong, specially if we are talking about a huge Hardcover. I pre-ordered Promise of Blood (Powder Mage Trilogy, as sugested by Brandon), and it took 40 days after the release date to arrive. The ETA is usually 10-15 week days, what means 2-3 weeks, but it actually took 5! It was the first time I pre-ordered a hardcover, and I expect it doesn't happen with WOR....But I predict already to start reading this awesome book by mid Aprils....
Elbereth she/her Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Side note: Will there be versions of the artwork online for eBook readers? I know that you said you're trying to make the artwork as good as possible, but it would be nice if there were higher resolution one available online.
StormLight_Luc he/him Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Personaly I will buy the e-book through the apple bookstore (it says release date the 4th ), then will buy the uk version at my english bookshop as soon as possible and ordered the Tor version by Amazon. Taking in count that I live in Belgium and ordered it to Amazon via their fasted delivery option I will get the book at home between the 6th and 10th Sweet...

I'm sorry to hear this, but yes book depository will ship only on 4th March which will take 2-3weeks minimum. But Amazon site for Brazil was launched a few months ago. Maybe they have localised shipping. You might wanna look into that. Your best bet will be the same as mine, go for the eBook and get the hardcover later for leisurely reading.

I know that you said you're trying to make the artwork as good as possible, but it would be nice if there were higher resolution one available online. Current plan is for the new ebook illustrations to be higher resolution than the old high-res ones we put on the website—with a high enough resolution to look good on retina screens. We'll see if it actually happens, though initial signs look good. But anyway the images we gave them to put in the ebook will be the exact ones that we also put up on the website. 5
