  1. Problem is not only the cover, but formatting and structure of both versions are actually different. Oh yeah and it also comes out 2 days after..... I'll keep an eye for the book to come back on a platform (I read on tablet, so either Kindle, Kobo or any other format is okay), and maybe Brandon does one of those "mail me the receipt for the book and I'll mail you the ebook" things he's done before. Who knows. But if anyone has news on how to proceed it will help a lot.
  2. Hello All, I had pre-ordered Oathbringer on Amazon, day one of the official pre-order as far as I know, as a Kindle Ebook. However last week my pre order was cancelled, and I just cannot find the ebook on Amazon again. When I clink on Kindle, it redirects me to the UK version of the ebook (Golancz, not Tor published), and I want the US cover/version. I am buying this from overseas (Brazil) so I usually buy the ebook now and the paperback later, for my shelf, since the shipping usually takes 2 to 3 months (AKA forever). Have anyone else had any problem of the kind with the Ebook pre-order? Any Ideas on how to get this on day one instead of just waiting for the book to arrive on Easter? I know you, more than anyone else will understand my NEED to get this on day one...
  3. Yeah, I agree with animation. Imagine Kaladin fighting in an animation like Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was silksmooth animation, pretty fluid and beautiful. The production would cost way less than a movie, and depict all scenes, including flashbacks, way better.
  4. I was calling BS in all of this until I read SHARDFORK.... How much booze do we need to make Brandon spill the beans about book 4?
  5. So, this is not a full fledged theory, more of a discussion about something I realized reading WoR. Therefore, this is not going to have a lot of quotes and chapters and stuff, I just want a good discussion. Ok, in the end of WoR Pattern tells Shallan that she doesn't have other oaths, just have to keep revealing truths. Isn't that a really good reason for Honorspren to dislike cryptics? Kaladin has 4 especific oaths to discover and follow, and if he doesn't, Syl dies and he can't be a KR. But as long as Shallan keeps telling Pattern what she ate for breakfatst (yes, I'm exagerating), she'll keep lightweaving. She can even use her powers to do anything she wants, while Kaladin can't be selfish with his powers. Looking through the eyes of a Honorspren this would be pretty unfair. The pre-requisites needed for the bond and surgebinding. I can also see this difference in words as the cryptics themselves being selfish, and feeding on the surgebinder. Kaladin needs to adapt himself and his ways to Syl her filosophys. Shallan only needs to feed Pattern with truths and lies. I was specificaly biased in this post, to expose my theory and point of view, since I could see more of Syl not liking Cryptics than Cryptincs not liking Honorspren. What do you guys think? Is this diference in oaths and words one of the main reasons Honorspren and Cryptics don't go along?
  6. Let's not forget that Adolin is also rejecting The Thrill. He really looks like a Skybreaker to me, and it will be awesome when/if he and Kaladin become flying buddies =)
  7. NOW it all makes sense to me! First I thought Zahel was one of the Heralds, but I dropped the theory in his POV. Strangely enough, in that POV I felt a huge familiarity with his vouce, and got suspicios. But all the collor talk seals the deal to me. Getting more into topic, Nightblood is actually the most awesome thing Brandon ever wrote! I went into hyped hysterical fangirl mode when I recognized her/it. I just wonder how will Szeth spend Stormlight to fuel NB. I mean, he needed the Honorblade to breath stormlight didn't he? Maybe NB gives him the ability again? so it can be fueled?
  8. I'm already seeing Despairspren.... they're like huge white balls with large black cores, like floating staring eyes....
  9. I voted for Renarin for logical reasons: He's the major underdog of the series. Therefore I expect him to be alive for more time than others. I wish Jasnah would live forever.... with me, in my hut in the woods, soulcasting food outta dead leaves and...-- I mean.... Hope she survives, but unlikely.
  10. So the Santhid is a huge shell with a huge eye? I imagined something way more complex than that, but it's still pretty cool. The eye sketch is mesmerizing. Also, I love how the glyphs intertwine themselves to form a comples image with all the meanings. Reminds me of Japanese Kanji, the way more complex Kanji are made of smaller, simpler ones together. But the glyps give much freedom on that, making it possible to just draw a picture with the meaning you want and then just fit the glyphs. Can anyone tell me who's responsible for the glyphs design?
  11. I don't know if you'll catch the reference, but I could picture some intense braid tugging in this comment....
  12. First of all: YAY I'm not alone! Second of all: I'll consider this cheap Kindle version....I haven't got a Kindle or a tablet, so reading in my 4 inch cellphone screen is going to be a literal eyesore HAHA. But it's a great idea, thanks!
  13. Okay, now I'm HYPED!! I identified with the review, Chaos, way too much for my own liking. I, myself, didn't like tWoK too much at my first read. "Too slow!" I said, "no awesome climax at the end like Mistborn". "Half the book are people standing still and talking!" But my reread was deep and I loved it. I have inmind that Brandon gave us enough basis, background and theory in the first book, and that now all that's left is ACTION AND PROGRESS!! Looking forward to it. Loved the review!
  14. I bet it is justifiable too, the non-talking. Brandon often tells in his lectures that he hates "THE MISUNDERSTANDING" and plots based on people refusing to listen or talk, specially in romance plots. I'm pretty sure that, if Kaladin spend 3/4 of the book not talking with Dalinar out of suspicion, it will actually be clear and justified by his viewpoints and past. It's gonna be an ordeal, nonetheless, but bearable.
  15. I wish I could have such luck! Being from Brazil, even if the book was shipped last week I would still have to wait until mid-late March to have my copy! Damnation take this countrys customs and importation system!!
  16. Except this book is so big it would only fly a foot away from you.....and probably punch its way through the floor.... Serously now, I'm completely aghast with all the "dyings" theses "non-spoiler" spoilers are giving us. I expect at least Jasnah and Dalinar to survive, and see their powers as KR. But the way it's implied Teft and someone mean (Amaran or Sadeas) is going to die....wow, can't wait for this.
  17. That is not the impression I had. Alethi are quite hot headed, and if someone took one of my precious shardblades I would be pretty pissed with him. Duels are common, but not so much the ones betting Shards. Adolin duels in WoK with another Shardbearer, but does not win any Shards. Or am I wrong?
  18. It's amazing how my favorite characters changed between my first and second reads of WoK (I'm not really a re-reader, not even with Harry Potter books and they are one-day reads) The first time I read WoK really fast and with a lot of skimming. That time I hated Dalinar, and Adolin and some of Kaladin. But loved Shallan and Jasnah. It was a huge disapointment to me the first time I read and saw that Shallans POV is not on all parts of the book. But the second time I read it was waaaay deeply into the book and characters. Then I loved everyone!! Now my favorites are Kaladin, Jasnah and Shallan, then Adolin. I've come to like Adolin a lot, after seeing how he really looks like Dalinar and the way they interact. After reading Adolin's excerpt I like him even more, and I'm looking forward to see more of him (I expect/hope him to be a KR and from a really cool order)!
  19. Sadeas works in a highly strategical way. He wouldn't duel some other shardbearer if it would mean war between both highprinces. Dalinar is only doing this in WoR cuz he has the Kings support. He is also very proud, so he wouldn't take a generals shardblade like "You won this fighting for me, give it right now". So I',d say that he was too proud to ask for the kings blade, and too cautious to duel another highprince, or the bearer from another highprince, and risk having them against him.
  20. I'd say that the second lashing is, indeed pressure based. In a strange way, but it is. I can se the pressure being really high between Lopens shirt and the wall, so he's stuck there. That being said, I still believe that those three lashings are not the only things that the Pressure surge can do, and I'm a huge supporter of the "Force Push = Pressure Surge" theory. To my understanding, the second lashing works as follows: 1- Objectis infused with stormlight on its surface. 2-As soon as the object touches another surface, inbued stormlight forces, pushes the air around those surfaces away, so there is a vacuum seal between said surfaces. 3- Stormlight keeps said seal until it runs out. The way it works, it would be pressure based, but still let the possibility of force push and pull. Also, porous surfaces would need more stormlight to be lashed, since porous means more air between surfaces that would need more force to keep the seal. It is possible to have high pressure diferentials to make a seal, even in open space, it would just need an external source of force to keep the air away. Stormlight seems to work very well haha.
  21. Unfortunately the new Brazilian Amazon store is just a Kindle store..... I thought about buying the e-book too, so I can start reading immediatly and then start the Hardcover all over again when it arrives, but I've got no e-readers, and those are expensive around here. So mid Aprils it is.
  22. I've actually read most of Cosmere stuff in english. I'ts not a very common practice around here, but since I found Book Depository and its free shipping I started reading a lot in english. My favourite books are the Stormlight Archive, Warbreaker and Mistborn. Thank you for the welcome!
  23. Hello Sharders!! I'm Neru! I've been a lurker for some time, avid user of the wiki, but only now, with Words of Radiance right on the corner (and so many awesome posts about amazing theories going around) I finally entered the forums. I'm from Brazil, and probably the only one around that has ever read The Way of Kings. Elantris just debuted around here, and Final Empire is to come, so maybe more people will know Brandons works. Maybe one day the Stormlight Archive! I just graduated at Engineering, so I may post a lot on theories and stuff, since Brandons magic systems follow the rules of nature so understendably and perfectly! As said before, English is not my first language, and its basically self taught, so please don't be upset with spelling and other mistakes. I'd gladly accept corrections! Since I've been lurking so much, I already feel welcomed! But I hope to be able to get to know you people better and post a lot! See you in threads!!
  24. Do you guys know if BookDepository will send the book ON March 4th or with ETA on March 4th? My situation is kinda worse than Karmas and Kals.... I live in Brazil, and am probably one of 5 other people who read tWoK...Shipping here is always a problem, usually takes waaaay to looooong, specially if we are talking about a huge Hardcover. I pre-ordered Promise of Blood (Powder Mage Trilogy, as sugested by Brandon), and it took 40 days after the release date to arrive. The ETA is usually 10-15 week days, what means 2-3 weeks, but it actually took 5! It was the first time I pre-ordered a hardcover, and I expect it doesn't happen with WOR....But I predict already to start reading this awesome book by mid Aprils....
  25. Hello people from the 17th Shard! I've been lurking for some time and just now decided to post something, so go easy on me ok? haha I won't make a theory post about it, but I believe that one of the unknown surges, the one from Bondsmiths, are actually something like Wavelenght /Sinchronism or anything like that. See, my evidence for that are exactly the visions Dalinar has. Honor/Tanavast is dead, so he can't hear questions from Dalinar and stuff. IMO, these visions are something like radio broadcasts. Imagine like Honor sends a message within every highstorm, and since Dalinar can use this surge, he can tune into that wavelenght, and see the visions. Also, these could also send messages and stormlight through Stormlight Wi-Fi haha. And as my last resort/argument: Chemical bonds are actually energy wavelenght bonds....so.....BONDSMITHS!!
