No kill

Dyring was shocked. An inquisitor? that could affect sales and drives customers away! Oh, and its sad that modeft died too he supposed.

Only one thing to do, go on the offensive in the real important matter!

"Oh rust, Modeft.. damnit, Ill need a drink."

After having poored himself(a small) drink, he shouts

"To Modeft, whereever he is. Surely he is worthy of a drink in his honor."

There, that should get some selling started. Now as long as that lazy bartender is awake...

Dyring doesent feel he got anything to go on, and for now votes nokill.

ooc - Windrunner, its fine, were still finding the right level for them. Last game most rp was toned down as there was more arguments. prolly need a few games to both find the right amount of people a game should have, and how high on RP etc.

Hi! Barty Spiked here!

Um, I'm not sure what to say. Personally, I agree with Clancy's logic. But I too no want to be dead.

Red: no vote

Vron wasn't sure if it was the pounding in his head that woke him up or someone pounding on his door.  He cracked an eye and was surprised to see daylight poking through the shutters.

"Sir," A voice called from beyond the door. "Sir, you need to get up.  Something has happened."

Slowly Vron rose from his bed, trying to avoid having the room spin he shuffled over to the door.

"What happened?" he croaked out.

"Can you open the door Sir.  It's very hard to hear you." the voice called.

Unlocking the door, Vron was about to open it when the door suddenly swung open and caught him full in the face.

"Um, sorry." the voice said.

"Ooo, you busted his nose Jac." Another spoke.

"News." Vron spoke while trying to stop both the bleeding and the room spinning.

"Right." the second voice said. "Modeft is dead."

"They say it was the spikeheads that got 'im."

"Anything else?"

"No, just the big commotion down by the tavern."

Handing a couple of clips to each of the four kids, Vron climbed back onto his bed and started to drift off.

Sitting bolt upright, "Modeft is dead??" Vron exclaimed. "What happened?"

No kill. Praise the Ja.

Idea: Could we potentially start using polls for voting, at least as a supplement to declaring it in-post? Better than forcing poor Aether to listify everything.

Posted

Aether only has to do lists if he wants to do lists. Which, like Bartbug said, I'm pretty sure he enjoys it.

I have all of my Docs for keeping track of things and if you guys would like a vote count sometime during the day round, ask and I can quickly put one together. Note, I will not reveal any powers being used within those preemptive counts, even if I have their orders in, but I'll give you guys an accurate representation of who has voted where.

Besides, as Peng correctly points out, the polls are annonymous. That part alone would make it insensible to use them, as that is half of the information you get during the day rounds! I wouldn't want to take away such a powerful tool for both sides.

Posted (edited)

Polls can be made public (just tick the little "make votes public" box when you make it), and I was thinking just for the purposes of keeping track, not for the official tally necessarily. So anyone looking at the thread can tell the way the wind is blowing at-a-glance: everyone would still be posting their votes in red and green in their posts, they'd just edit their votes as well for everyone's benefit.

It also saves them the wait for you/Aether to post an updated list, and, quite frankly, stops evil!Aether from "accidentally" miscounting something and so affecting how other people see the vote going.

Quiller stood at the back of the hall, trying not to retch. He had discarded the hood upon entering -let them know who they were dealing with- but as well as the tattoo's circling above them, there were bags hanging below. He hadn't drank the wine the night before, but he'd stayed until the last had gone, trying to find something he could pass along to his master.

Lord Ollivier had sat behind his desk, his fingers steepled with a look of cool dispassion. His hairline was receding, and beneath the tattoo's, his eyes had seemed distant. "Is that all?" he asked as Quiller gave his report.

"Yeb ser," Quiller said. His nose still stung, but he tried not to let it show. " I bean, yes, sir. They just talked and drank all night."

"Of course they did," Lord Ollivier murmured. "But was there anything... unusual?"

Looking at the body hanging off the hook, Quiller grimaced. This would qualify as unusual.

Instead, he'd squirmed. "There was... one thing, my lord. A woman."

Ollivier fixed him with a stare. "Skaa have women too," he said dryly.

"No sir. I mean, they do, sir, but she wasn't a skaa. She looked noble."

Ollivier frowned at that.

Quiller made his way around the room. In normal society, he would have been invisible, but invisibility wasn't what he was here for. He was here as the representative of the Canton.

"Act as my agent in this matter," Lord Ollivier had finally said. "Observe them. Find out what they know about the inquisitor. But don't trust any of them, and don't take action into your own hands again." He fixed Quiller with a stare. "If they show you disrespect, beat them. But kill no one. Find out about them."

"My lord, a group this size... It may be difficult to keep track of them. Of their movements."

He smiled, long, and thin, and cruel. "A group this size," he said, "is one with expendable bait."

"Even the woman, sir?" Quiller had felt uncomfortable asking that then, and he felt it more so now. He didn't know why a beautiful noblewoman would be here, of all places, but he disliked the implications in lord Olllivier's words.

"If she is one of us, Quiller, she will be under my protection. If not, she dies. You are dismissed."

I could see that, but I think the confusion and intrigue is worth it at this point. If everything becomes too clear, we risk losing part of the fun! Going that route very well may make mob rule easier, or make people less likely to speak up if their opinion doesn't go along with the poll. Not to mention that it'll make it easier for people to just vote with the group without explanation, which loses you guys a lot of information.

Plus, we haven't dealt with the issue of other people being able to vote. While I think most people on the forum would respect our wishes and not add their own voice, it doesn't take a lot of bad apples to spoil it for everyone.

We'll give it a try though. When I get to my home computer tonight, I'll look into the poll options and see if it's something we can work with. No promises that we'll keep using it, but I'm open to trying different ideas. Just don't be too surprised if I cancel it later if it seems like it's making the game less complex and chaotic.

kill no one. again. I hope this works.

"also, everyone, I have an announcement to make." shouts peng. "I am a mistborn. Why do I tell you this you ask?" "because the inquisitor can't convert the mistborn. this way,we have someone we all can trust and we can bring this filth to justice."

To convert another player, you need a dead Misting and one of your Ruin granted abilities. Your target will have a 50% chance to gain the powers of the dead Misting and your Ruin granted power will be used up. The sacrificed power will then be revealed to everyone. If you give up your final Ruin power, you will die. You cannot convert the Mistborn.

(emphasis mine.)

I drew tin for today, so I'm useless right now, but i should get a new role for the night time cycle. Lurcher, please lurch me. Seeker, please seek me. smoker, please DO NOT smoke me. I want the seeker(s) to confirm my identity.

Cessie felt a well of relief at the sight of Herwynbe at her elbow.  Allowing him to lead her into one of the tables in the corner she sat down.  "Is that what they looked like?" She asked quietly, eyes focused on her hands.  Her clean, white hands.  They were safe to look at.  "Did Mama and Pappa have a spike in them when they were killed?"

Forcing a smile to her face, she waved away the reply she was sure was going to be offered, and instead thought about the words her mother had always said "Be noble, even when it's the hardest.  People look to you, as a chosen of the Lord Ruler himself to lead them."  Right then, what everyone needed was to cool off and think with a level head before someone died needlessly.

"Herwynbe, will you fetch me something to eat?  Just some bread, nothing to harsh," She asked, casting a quick smile at the Terrisman.  Turning her attention to the crowd around her, she tried to catch as many of the conversations as she could.  She knew that she couldn't stand someone else dying, and when it came time to vote would chose to not to kill anyone.

Once it's established that I'm the mistborn, I think it might be a good idea to have people PM me their roles so i can look for discrepancies.

"Oh man we haven't even started our job yet and already we have a corpse!? Even worse it's our crewleader! Looks like I'l have to cart out this corpse.

"I say we blame the nobles after all who's ever heard of skaa inquisitor?, My cousin in Luthadel once told me that the inquisitors hunt the skaa relentlessly over there. I dont think its the noblewoman, So I say we lynch this Lord Ollivier who we haven't even met yet!

All right so perhaps it might be wiser to wait, I still say we should start with the nobles unless some new information appears.

Vote: Kill no-one

Vote: Kill Ollivier

EDIT: Fnord does have a point though. Even with emotional Allomancy, the Inquisitor cannot kill anyone on his own, but if even one villager votes for someone, then the Inquisitor can get a villager killed for free. So as a contingency plan, I suggest that everyone votes for the next person who votes for someone (without an extremely good reason) - as long as they refuse to change their vote to "no one". May the Survivor make it so that no one does.

Change your vote, please.

Well. Alright. Looks like we already got a declared Mistborn. Um.... Seekers away?

I don't know about his claim yet. I can see why he's making that move, going into the open like that. Makes sense, just get it all out and start building people's trust from the very beginning. Will be nice if we can prove it.

But then what worried me is when he asked for peoples roles in the post right after that. I'm just saying, that's some scary stuff.
I'm still not voting for the moment, but I'm keeping my eye on you, Peng.

I completely understand. :) depending on what i draw, i may be able to use it to prove myself tonight. also, I don't expect people to PM me roles until after I am verified as mistborn.

Robot Aztec: Is that an actual vote for Windrunner? If it is, I need it in red text. That way I can easily distinguish between the debates that go back and forth and actual votes. Any votes that are not clear will not be counted, as well as any vote made without switching previous votes to green. Just trying to clarify it for everyone.

If you cannot change the color of your posts, ask someone how to do so. I'll allow a few special conditional situations, but with as large of a group as we have, I need everything to be as concise as possible.

Lam, be careful or you might just be killed. Same goes for you, Peng. Claiming to be mistborn is no small thing. If a Seeker claims you're not one, we're going to have a liar on our hands. Whether it's you or the Seeker though, will be determined. Seekers, I say go ahead and Seek Peng tonight. If two (if there are that many) can confirm that he is not a Mistborn, we can kill him and be quite confident in our choice. If only one Seeker confirms that he is not, we can choose either to kill Peng or the Seeker. Whichever one we kill, if one is a regular member of the crew, the other must be a liar.

'Maxill was scared. Modeft had been the only member on the crew who he had really known. He had small encounters with Aspren and done a couple jobs. But the rest of the crew had pretty much shunned him since the beginning of his Survivor-accursed time in this crew.'

For now, I vote no one.

Posted

And I just thought. If the Inquisitor happens to have Smoking powers, he can totally just expand his cloud to Peng tonight, making him unreadable for the Seekers. So when they come back tomorrow telling us that there were no clear results, we're going to have to kill either Peng or who denied his claim.

Any ideas, anybody?

I'm going to be changing my Vote to avoid killing anyone Since its the wiser course of action. I'm not sure if I have post anew or whatever so I will just make a new post.

I also vote for no one.

Also, about the Mistborn thing. Whoever Seeks Peng tonight, if he does turn out to be the Mistborn, tell no one but Peng who you are. The next night, Seek someone else: if they're a Villager, PM them that you're the Seeker and that Peng is a Mistborn. That person will be the one who tells the thread everything. We cannot afford to have both the Mistborn and the Seeker known, since we may have only one Lurcher, and both are too valuable to lose.
