So sorry guys, I thought I'd have more time for this game. For now I will cheer Bard because it sounds like you all have something figured out. I won't have enough time to go back through and analyze all the previous threads, so I will do my best to start where we are.

Unfortunately, saying that you only have 2 PMs isn't enough to clear you. Anybody, Faithful or Foresworn, can claim to only have a certain number of PMs. Your claim itself isn't alignment indicative unless it is verified and found either true or false, and thus doesn't clear you.

Fine, I'll buy a Holobox. And give it to someone?

Wait, who are u talking about @Magestar? It's early here. And I can't work it out lol.

Rae.  She asked me to give the points I had against her.

@Magestar, if you could compile that list of points, that would be very helpful. Hunting down points from a school computer is kind of stressful. I'm on for another 20 minutes, so if you want a response today please put them on here soon.

Khazad: Has been oddly quiet for how he usually plays.  However, when I've checked, he's been off the shard entirely for long periods, so I assume RL stuff.  Neutral read.

You're right about that: for the last two days I haven't been able to post as much as I've wished to. However, I have no classes today and so can up my posting back to its normal standards.

In celebration for no classes, I'll start with a wall-post.

One of the things that strikes me the most is how suddenly everyone is trusting Daniyah.

I've got a good read right now on Dani,

This is one of the slightly-suspicious trusts, and on the previous page Lopen says basically the same thing. The problem is: I haven't seen much from Dani that gives me any read. She must be working in PMs, which has appeared to be more her style in the past. If Dani really was an elim working in the shadows, however, I doubt that she'd ask fellow elims to vouch for her in thread, so she does have that going for her. What I can say is this: Dani appears to have a very-high PM-to-post ratio. And while that doesn't an elim make in and of itself, I'd like to see her using that Shard time to post more where everybody can see instead of working behind the scenes where she could be doing anything.

As for the Rae controversy, I personally lean towards Rae being village. However, both sides have raised some valid points. What I can deduce is this: I believe with 95% surety that Rae and her accusers are not all elims. Right now the Forsworn have lost one player and are about to lose another (unless Wonko somehow survives again), and so under the circumstances bussing a third would be less than wise. Either Rae is a Forsworn that is rightfully-suspected by the village, or Rae is a villager whom the Forsworn are eager to kill. or Rae and her accusers are both paranoid villagers. I'd put the chances of each of these about equal.

I've also decided to look at a slightly-different approach to the situation; the same that I did in the last QF. For those who weren't there, I became suspicious of DA because I doubted that the village would have two Red-Oranges. I turned out to be right. Here's a list of all of the roles and my reads on whether or not there would be an elim with that role:

Thorne: Vanilla. Since we know that the Forsworn had a Bellona, I doubt they'd have a Thorne, too. If they did that would be two players with no useful abilities other than gaining Merit or making kills, and I don't think Aman would do that to a team.

Fabii: Vote-manip. I think there's a good chance that the Forsworn have a Fabii. Most games in the past with vote-manip have had at least one player with vote-manip on the elim team, and I doubt this game would be an exception.

Rath: Defect. Now this would be an interesting one for a Forsworn to be. However, I could see it being a bit game-breaking if a Forsworn Rath chose to defect. I do have to increase the chances of there being a Forsworn Rath after Aman's rule-change for Raths at the beginning of C1, because that seems to apply especially to Forsworn Raths.

Julii: Item-swap. Wonko has claimed to be one, and I doubt the Forsworn would have 2. But if Wonko isn't one, then there's a decent chance somebody else is.

Telemanus: Sacrifice-protect. I don't think the elims would have any. One dead elim is as good as another, so one elim taking a blade for another would be little improvement.

Lune: Scan. Useful as a way of getting trusted, so I'd say there's a good chance of there being a Forsworn one.

Arcos: Unlynchable. Another wild card: an elim team with an Arcos would be much harder to kill than one without an Arcos, but having an Arcos would lose them a spot that they could use for a more useful ability for being trusted like Lune. However, a Forsworn Arcos does sound like something Aman would make, so I'll account for that.

Bellona: Extra Merit. Bugsy was one, and putting another one in would almost be like them having a Thorne. Doubtful.

Final probabilites:

Thorne: 5%

Fabii: 80%

Rath: 60%

Julii: 10%

Telemanus: 15%

Lune: 65-70%

Arcos: 60%

Bellona: 5%

Assuming that the Forsworn have 4 more players after Bugsy and Wonko, I'd guess they're Fabii, Lune, Arcos, and Rath. Assuming 3 I'd guess Fabii, Lune, and either Arcos or Rath.

"Oi, Khazad, are you going to come with me? We have a murder to catch!"

Khazad nodded stiffly and walked out of the War-Room with Pierce, saying nothing because he was still processing what had happened. Although he had reacted well in the moment, his mind was as late as his body was, and so was still reconciling the day's events.

Do you think they'll kill you next? A familiar disembodied voice spoke.

"Why would they? They have better targets."

All the better for a surprise attack.

"Keep this up and I'm liable to crack for good."

Oh, I can assure you that you did that long ago. That's how I got here.

Khazad was tired of having this conversation with his sixth sense again, so he turned to Pierce, "Has Sanis been locked up yet?"

"If I knew I wouldn't have asked you to catch him."

Khazad mentally cursed himself, then replied, "What are we waiting for? I'd hate to be late to Sanis' funeral." He grinned sardonically.

Tia had started when a woman burst into the hall in ragged clothing, screaming about rabbits. She has been even more surprised when in an instant, Spartacus dropped his pursuit of Sanis and dove towards the girl in obvious concern.  I wonder what the story behind all that is...  While watching, she briefly saw a flash of another image of a slightly different Spartacus in full armor, charging into battle, leading armies, a hero who fought more with his guile than with his brawn. A hero that.. That had reached a hand to her once… She blinked again, squeezing her eyes closed, and then the image was gone. Spartacus was on the floor, seemingly unconscious, but as the girl knelt, he sprung up again and captured her with surprising ease. I… knew him. she realised. Somehow, years ago, she had known this man.

Spartacus had released the girl, then, and was running back to where Sanis and Gregor had been. She watched him go, then shook her head to clear her thoughts, and ran after to observe what was happening with the traitor Sanis. It was about time she added her cheer to this.

Chapter 5: Death Begets Death Begets Death Begets Death

Until today, Sanis had never met fear. He had not met fear when his mother beat him after stabbing his sister in her crib. He had not met fear when the Proctors threw him naked in a room with a Gold twice his size and told them only one could live. He had not met fear when he was tied up by his fellow Baccusians in the night and given to those Plutonian savages for a false promise of peace. Goryhell, he had not even met fear when he dueled his cousin, Lumina, just a few moments ago, despite knowing the entire time that there was no way he could beat her in a fair fight, and that she aimed to kill.

Skin torn and clothes drenched in equal amounts of sweat and blood, however, with that dull brute Gregor slowly closing in on him from behind, Sanis had met fear for the first time in his life. Desperate to survive, he threw passing Browns to the ground behind him, hoping to slow the man down, although there were never enough of them nearby to delay his pursuer for long. New to this cursed emotion, panic began to grip the man, his breath growing more haphazard, his pace chaotic. A cacophony of echoes resonated off the marble walls, the sound of footsteps and lancers cheering Gregor's name blending together into an ode to his demise. This is all your fault, that voice that lingered just beyond his consciousness said. No one's fault but your own. Your fault. Yours. All yours.

Sanis turned into a dead end and screamed, grasping an archaic door knob and tugging with all his might, each and every muscle swollen from exertion, yet none strong enough to break the lock and allow him entry. Frantic, he searched himself for anything he could use to pry it open. He found nothing, save for his dataPad and a whisperGem. Useless. If confronted, neither could save him. Not unless he managed to shove them down Gregor's throat. The very thought curved his lips into a smile. It didn't last long when Gregor halted at the corner, a monolithic man who barely seemed out of breath. Uncoiling his razor and solidifying it in an unfamiliar shape, he looked down at Sanis in more one ways than one.

"Done running?"

"Never."

Energy all but depleted, Sanis threw all his weight against Gregor, forcing him down and onto his back, hoping that the surprise might be enough. A quick jab to loosen the jaw. A wrench of the hands to open his mouth wide. A forceful push to lodge the dataPad into his gullet.

Gregor bit down before the device could get far, his face twisted in amusement.

This time Sanis had no pulseshield to keep his head atop his shoulders.

You could say he died with fear now an intimate friend.

"Nifty trick, that," said a lancer cloaked in black, their face obscured by a fleshMask that made their face eerily blank, addressing the meek, exotic woman who beheaded their ally just the night before. "Does that make you a Lune, then? I've never heard of light sealing a wound better than resFlesh before. Must be another gorydamn secret of the the Sovereign's, eh?"

Frightened and confused, the woman shook her head, suddenly regretting the casual use of her powers these last two days. Without stormlight she was no longer immortal, and she was certain the phantom standing before her aimed to prove that.

"Don't suppose you've got any of that magic light left?" the lancer, as if reading her thoughts, asked mockingly. Hesitantly, she shook her head again. "Well, ain't that a shame. For you, I mean. For me... well that's the best news I've heard all day."

As the lancer stalked towards her, Nyanah rose from the seat, clutching the hilt of the ionBlade she won from killing Sevro the previous day. Flicking the metal cylinder, she attempted to will the blade of plasma into existence, though nothing came. Menacingly, the faceless lancer laughed.

"Never used an ionBlade before, eh? What kind of Gold are you anyway? No matter. Allow me to show you how it works."

Epicanthic eyes widened by fear, Nyanah looked up to find the faceless lancer brandishing a similar device towards her. "You see, all you've gotta do..." they drawled as she watched their thumb find a small, tear shaped indent on the side, "is press this little button and..." a sharp beam of harsh light erupted from its hollowed tip, just long enough to pierce her chest, "...whoops. Sorry about that. Well, not really. You deserve to die after what you did to Sevro. Which reminds me..." they said, the seam of flesh where his lips should be bending into a horrific grin. "How would you like to be decapitated?"

Incapable of words, Nyanah shook her head for the last time, her body falling backwards to bleed onto the table, her head landing on the seat she just rose from, face up and features starkly beautiful in contrast to Sevro's ugly mug that sat nearby.

"I know who you are,"  Spartacus declared when he reentered the War Room, finding the faceless lancer prying something from Nyanah's hand.

"Do you now?" the crouched figure asked, not seeming to care about the man's sudden appearance, nor the familiar buzz of an activated ionBlade coming from his hand.

"I've figured it all out. With the help of a few others, sure, but I know it all. Your name, your allies... I know everything, traitor."

"Everything? And yet still, you come to me alone with a weapon in your hand, expecting what? Surely you must know you can't defeat me."

"Yes, but I knew if I waited for you to burn out your own ionBlade on someone else first, you wouldn't be able to fight me."

Laughing, the faceless lancer stood and faced Spartacus, then nodded to ionBlade that neither Sevro or Nyanah ever managed to use, but would soon find a use in his hands.

"Well then. Uhh. Don't suppose I can barter a truce?"

"Nope. I've never been one for bartering. That was Sanis' thing."

Spartacus gulped. "So what's your thing, then?"

The faceless lancer stifled a laugh. "I thought you said you knew everything?"

In the blink of an eye, Spartacus was on the ground, bleeding from a dozen cuts much-too-deep for his liking, stripped of all his belongings save for the dataPad and whisperGem sitting beside him. Hardly a challenge, the faceless lancer decided a slow death would be more befitting.

Wonko the Sane was Sanis au Julii, a Forsworn lancer secretly working for Imperator Augustus. He was slain by Gregor, who was cheered on by RylosTiaStickKhazadNyanah, Brown-PiercingLuciusQuintusNirgal, and Danii.

Also, it was probably Doc who killed me. He must be hunting Julii after all. I'd put him down, if I were a Villager

Arraenae was Nyanah au Thorne, a Faithful lancer in the ArchGovernor's employ. She was slain by an unknown assassin. Nyanah's whisperGem contained the following message:

I trust Doc for his creation of the Julii plan. Please protect him. Ask him to bring my body home, if he can. I also attacked Wonko, on the off-chance that he was an Arcos.

Doctor12 was Spartacus au Thorne, a Faithful lancer in the ArchGovernor's employ. He was slain by an unknown assassin. Spartacus' whisperGem contained the following message:

At the moment, my no clue reads are: Chaos, Assassin, Jefry, Straw, Living Legend.

My more suspicious ones are: Darkness, Mage

The ones I reasonably trust are: Rae, Burnt, Daniyah, Sheep.

The ones I trust are: Lopen

Avenge me, my fellow lancers. See you in your past

Daniyah was Dimsari au Thorne, a Faithful lancer in the ArchGovernor's employ. She was slain by an unknown assassin. Dimsari's whisperGem contained the following message:

Quicksilver's Coffers

  • (1) holoCam(s) / holoBox(es), 10 Merit: Give your holoBox to another lancer and every action that you make or that is physically made against you will be recorded and relayed to them.
  • (2) jamField(s)15 Merit: Any device that is used within close proximity of you and another lancer you target is disabled (not destroyed). This can interfere with a Lunes research, but no other House ability.
  • (2) stunFist(s)20 Merit: Stun another lancer, preventing them from taking any further actions this Chapter. If your target is protected by a pulseShield they will not be stunned, although their pulseShield will be destroyed.
  • (2) fleshMask(s)25 Merit: Disguise yourself as another lancer, preventing any action that would be used against you at the cost of potentially becoming the target of an action that would target the lancer you disguise yourself as. Likewise, any further action you take will be observed as being executed by the lancer you impersonate.
  • (2) ghostCloak(s)25 Merit: Stealth yourself, causing any action that targets you to fail. In addition, you can stalk another lancer to discover the targets and actions they make, but you yourself are unable to take any more actions.
  • (1) pulseShield(s), 30 Merit: Passively protects you from a single death (includes duels).
  • (1) ionBlade(s)40 Merit: A generic, energy-based weapon that's perfect for assassinations.

A corridor at night, bathed in darkness and shadows. No sound or light broke the stillness.

That is, until a figure dashed into it, running as fast as he can, mouth open in a silent scream. Blood dripping all over the floor.

Spartacus was running, running for his life. Down a dark corridor, darting through the shadows. Gasping, he ducked into a side corridor, hoping his assailant was going too fast to slow. His plan had backfired horribly. He was going to die. Behind him, a figure grunted as it slammed into a wall. It had realized its mistake of leaving a Time Lord to bleed out when Spartacus had sprinted out of the room in a sudden burst of energy. Now it was going to finish the job.

He knew he couldn’t outrun the figure. He was no Gold, while they were. He would be caught in a matter of minutes. And he was still bleeding out.
Heavy footsteps behind him, growing louder.

.He cursed himself heartily for being so rash. But at least he had left plans in place. People he trusted. He cast deperate glances around him, hoping for something to he could use.

A hum as an Ionblade was activated behind him. The darkness was suddenly awash with a faint purple light.

Turning, he fired a blast of the sonic into the corridors, hoping at least to disorient his pursuers. It was too dark to see anything! Hopefully that meant his pursuer couldn’t see him either. But he didn’t hold out much hope.

A low laugh from behind as his attacker finally caught up with him.

But the Healer was smiling. Laughing, even. You see. He had finally realized which corridor he was in.

Among the dark corridor, lights suddenly began to flash, and a otherworldly groan echoed through it. The Forsworn skidded to a halt, confused and not a little frightened, as the alien sound wheezed rhythmically, lights flashing, until all was still. And Spartacus was nowhere to be found. All that was left was a simple box-shaped depression on the ground.

_____________________________________________________________________________

The Healer was laughing. Giddily, in relief, as he flicked several switches, checked the scanners, and made himself a pot of tea. Another near death escape. He really should have gotten used to these by now. He flicked the dematerialization lever, having already set the target to the same corridor, but the next morning. Boy did he have news to tell the Faithful!

And...yes. He would have to take Nyanah's body back to her homeland. And even...Danii. He owed it to Danii, even after what she had done. No one deserved to die alone in an alien world. The least he could do was give them proper burials.

The time rotor finally shuddered to a halt. The Healer- newly patched up - walked over to the doors and pulled them open, glancing around.

His face fell. Seriously? He glanced back at his TARDIS. She gave no reply.

He was in the middle of a field of red. Mars, then. There was a house near him. Same architectural style as the place he had just left, only much more modest. So, same planet, approximately the same time period. Looks like the old girl had gotten the location right, just the time...a bit off.

Then he saw the girl coming from the house to meet him. He face fell, and he looked at the TARDIS, yelling “REALLY?!” Then he just started laughing softly, realizing how everything fell into place in the end. Everything

Well, it's too late now. Let's just hope the other lancers are smart enough to do it without me.

He waved her over, smiling kindly.  “Hello there, can you take me to Tiberius?”

He recognized the girl.

It was Tia, but twenty years younger.

They were coming.

They had found Dimsari. He, the Jackal, Burganaa, the Keeper of Rabbits, would be next. As he stood over the body of his companion, something snapped. Not Allomantically, of course, but something deeper down, more primal. He would find her killer. He would avenge her death. And no matter what the cost, he would get home.

Sorry for inactivity, I haven't really got enough time to fully dissect this game in detail. I'll try and pay more attention though.

Okay... we had three village deaths last night. That wasn't good at all. What's worse is it looks like the elims orchestrated at least two of them. Wonko was lynched, and Dani wasn't given a write-up, but the two killers we do hear about both said things that only a Forsworn would say. So either the Forsworn killed Rae, Doc, and Dani, or Dani was killed by friendly fire. Or one of Rae, Doc, and Dani used a Fleshmask to dress up as another and got killed by chance, but that's less likely.

Whatever happened, I'm almost positive that the elims offed Doc to silence him; he was coordinating enough players that they needed him gone fast, so they risked the Telemanus he asked for in-thread. Along that line of reasoning, I suspect that there are no Telemanuses in the game; that would account for Doc being killed despite his calls for protection.

Another thing that I find strange is that it is explicitly noted that Rae's killer wore a FleshMask. Either this was a deliberate red-herring on Aman's part, or the kill was made for the benefit of us all: the elims suspected that Rae had a HoloCam online, so they masqueraded as someone else in order to direct the lynch the next day. I don't remember seeing a FleshMask being purchased in the shop, so if the elims did use a FleshMask it was one they started with or got off of the lynch.

TL;DR:

  • There were at least 2 (if not 3) elim kills last night
  • There is a good chance there are no Telemanuses in the game
  • The elims probably used a FleshMask that they started with

I'll be signing off for about an hour, but will be back after that to do more analysis, particularly in regard to who would have killed Dani. It may be as little as 30 minutes, though.

Yikes, that didn't end well. I'll want to see Dani's write up, but Aman won't give anything away there unless it's intentional.

I was wrong about Rae, it appears, though I was reasonably certain Doc and Dani were clean as I had mentioned last cycle. Not sure what to think of the lists of who Rae and Doc trusted and suspected. I'm mostly suspicious of the people still playing it quiet, but any of the top RPers other than the dead could have gotten the Forsworn ionBlade to do one of those kills. Did anyone make one of those kills based on a mistaken read? It'd be nice to know so we can figure out if there was coordinated misinformation.

Also, I was PMing with Dani, so I'm sad she's gone. I probably need to PM someone myself.

You could always restart that one you sent me C1. Just sayin'... :P

I think I have figured out who another Forsworn is: it's DA. This is why I suspect him:

Reason #1: My calculation that the Forsworn have a vote-manip.

As I mentioned last cycle, I calculated that based on my previous games and the fact that some roles from this game don't make sense on an elim team (Thorne, another Bellona, another Julii, Telemanus), there is an 80% chance that the Forsworn have a vote manip.

Reason #2: The early role-claim.

In DA's last game with me (the previous QF), DA did something similar to this game; he role-claimed in-thread very early on. It turned out that he was an elim, and he did the same in this game. That in itself is not incriminating (I role-claimed early in that game myself, albeit it was a half-truth), but I think he did it in this game to avoid getting scanned by a Lune. If you were a Lune, who would you have scanned last night? If I was a Lune, I would have scanned one of the biggest posters, like Doc or Rae, not a claimed vote-manip who so-far has been forthcoming with his actions.

Reason #3: Doc's distrust of DA.

This one isn't as scientific as the others, but I do think that Doc's distrust of DA should be taken into account. The write-up implies that Doc knew the identity of his killer. This could mean that it was someone on his distrust list: i.e. Mage or DA. I'm more suspicious of DA right now, but Mage does now seem more suspicious to me than he was before, and if DA turns out village Mage is my next suspect.

Reason #4: Posting patterns.

If you review DA's post from any of the cycles so far, you will see the same pattern: he posts quite a bit, but with few words per post. I personally think this is because he is farming for Merit. Again, while farming for Merit is not necessarily a Forsworn thing, combine this with my Reason #3 and you get an interesting correlation: DA's high Merit levels would make him very likely to receive an IonBlade if he was a Forsworn, and if he did receive an IonBlade last cycle and kill Doc then that would perfectly explain why Doc's write-up said what it said.

Hrrrmmm... OK, I'll cheer for Dankness Ascendant in the duel between Dankness and Dankness, simply because I find the image of someone duelling themselves to be amusing. (I'll post more about the result after LG27 has started - I'm a bit busy right now.)

Uhh... PAFO? And you can gag vote all you want in colors other than what's relevant to the game.

EDIT: Man, I'm very scatterbrained today. Uhh. Gag votes done in the right colors will count as real votes. Otherwise they won't appear in the write up.

Oh, and can I vote manip myself into cheering myself? (PLEASE LET IT WORK!)

No :P the rules state that someone who initiates a duel cannot cheer.
