17th Shard Suggestions

A thread to put your suggestions for 17th shard! Here are my top 5 suggestions:

1. A improved search function. Ability to search by tags, reputation ect.

2. Moving the create button. Right now the create button is very hard to see.

3. A forum games area. Right now forum games are scattered all over the place.

4. A updated rules thread. The rules thread is very outdated, I would also appreciate it you put a link to it in the Introduce Yourself area.

5. New reputation titles. Gold Compounder, Kandra, Koloss, Cryptic, Cremling, Awakened Sword, Twinborn, Trell, Sand Master, Terrisman, Epic, High Epic, Rithmatist, Drab, Awakened Scarf, Chalkling, Shade, Pirate, Mad Prince, Forger, Bloodsealer, Striker, Gradget, Jaddeth, Highprince, Broken Spren, Shattered Shard, Calamity, Forgotten, Shadowblaze, Reckoner, Crewleader, Chull, Insane Seon, The Survivor, Bridgeman, King of Alethkar, and Outlaw are some of my ideas.

1. Unfortunately, I'm at the behest of IPS for this core search functionality. That's totally up to them and I can't directly do that. I will say that you absolutely can search by Tags in the advanced search UI: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/search/ 

2. May I ask what resolution your desktop is at? It was indeed a bit hard to make the Create button in a good spot at all the widths that the desktop version is at.

3. It will be done soon!

4. Anything you are particularly looking for in the rules threads? A link in the Introduce Yourself board is a good idea.

5. A lot of these are titles already but there are some new ones. I suppose I can include a lot of the Taldain stuff now. There will be a reputation update... sometime. It takes a lot of work to shift things around in a way I like. 

I will say that I am still not sure if I want non-cosmere titles in there. I have focused on making it cosmere only in particular for a few reasons. It's hard enough to try and rationalize "relative power level" with the current titles. Adding in other universes makes it much harder. I know people do want Reckoners titles, but I'm leery on this.

You might want to check the current list of ranks as some of those are already included.

I don't think that list is completely accurate: last time I checked @Assassin in Turquoise was a Zucchini but only at -80.

Huh. I'm pretty sure the negative list was accurate when I wrote it (we've been down this road of downvotes before, a couple of times). I think it must've changed since then. To the best of my knowledge the positive list is still accurate, though there may be some additional higher rep ranks that were added later that no one has reached yet.

Edit: Ok yeah, negative ranks have definitely changed  (Had a quick look through the members with lowest rep.)

Edit 2: I've updated the list with the details I could gather from the member list and I checked the first dozen or so positive ranks, which are still the same

Your first suggestion would be more of a mantle, and our timing is already ruined unless you want "Achieved God Beyond in 2 years" if timing is set from the start of the badge, than people would have unfair advantages. You know who I speak of

"Achieved God Beyond in 1 second"

Unless you mean from the time we joined the shard?

Back in the day, we used to have "trophies" that were awarded for specific things, and displayed prominently on your profile. Sounds basically like what you're proposing here.

 

I know chaos has indicated previously that trophies are coming back at some point in the future, but at this point we've been without them for something like ~4 years.

Awards in the works but can't be applied automatically so it wouldn't operate as you suggest. It would all need to be staff applied manually.

To add on to the trophy/badge idea, it'd be cool if you could hold "allegiances" or something in the groups section.

Any chance for a new section for crazy, highly unlikely Cosmere theories? For example, the one about Harmony picking up a shard on Roshar -- we know Brandon wants SA to stand on its own (see quote below), so no major Cosmere crossovers, which makes it DOA. And the one from a month or two ago about spiking Lift to make her even more awesome  -- fun, but even less likely to happen. 

It could be a good place to discuss fun stuff like Scadrial vs. Roshar, etc. Basically, try and put the "fan", fun, and silly stuff in a separate forum, leaving Cosmere Theories for serious discussion.
