edit: I should mention there's a good amount of profanity and such in here. :P

This is... surprisingly accurate.

Neither am I. I'm still not convinced that there's a legitimate chance that he's going to be our next leader.

If you mean unlucky, then yes. But for real, yeah.

Re: Busking, one night in Salt Lake City, I came across a guy playing bagpipes on a street corner on my way back to my car from Salt Lake Comic Con. It was so weird and awesome I just had to give him some cash.

That's... awesome.

After a long hiatus, I'm back to watching Buffy.

Spoiler

I'm going to guess that there's more to Oz's miracle cure than meditation and herbs.

Edit: Was….was that the extent of Riley's plan? "Step 1: Get Oz. Step 2: Leave." Did he forget that he's in a top-secret paramilitary facility? Good Gandhi, I didn't mind him up to this point, but now I'm wondering what Buffy sees in him.

The good:  Pumpkin Katana baseball is tomorrow!  We are hosting!  And we have successfully created Pumpkin Juice!

The bad:  I made the event open invitation.  Somehow, one of my friends has managed to invite the one single person I have ever outright blocked on Facebook.  It's my own damnation fault; he had no way of knowing that I'd blocked the guy.  I don't want him in my house, but it would have been inexcusably rude to rescind the invitation to him and his wife once it was given.

The ugly:  I'm kind of hoping they just no-show.  Because this guy has political views that I find absolutely reprehensible.  I blocked him specifically because I couldn't read his awful comments on a (different from the one who invited him) friend's posts without feeling an irresistible urge to jump into the argument, which resulted in my blood pressure skyrocketing.  I've been much happier pretending he doesn't exist.  But now he's likely to be in my house tomorrow and the election is in a few days and there's no way politics won't come up and I cannot guarantee that the day won't end with me pouring pumpkin juice over his head.

Maybe you could tell the guests that inside your house, there will be no political discussion? Say that it'll be better for the mental health of everybody involved. Anybody who breaks the rules too blatantly will be escorted out of the house.

With this many people this close to the election, that's not an easy rule to put forth.  And I also dislike the idea of putting a rule like that into place with a bunch of adults who SHOULD be able to act like respectful humans.

Mostly I'm just angry that someone I loathe this much is going to be in my house and there's rust-all I can do about it without being the rude one.

Discovering the voice actors will never cease to amaze me. Few years ago it was Luke Skywalker = Joker (yeah, I know it's common knowledge).
Today it's Fletcher (Whiplash) = Tenzin (from Legend of Korra) (!) = Ford Pines (GF) (!!!!)

Truth be told, I found out only about J.K. Simmons being Tenzin and I went to check what's the name of his character in Whiplash... and then my mind was blown again with relevation of Ford Pines.

I've seen the entry for Zootopia, but I haven't watched it yet. Although HBO aired it this week so it waits patiently in the recorder...

I must have a really good poker face.

I've been complaining a lot about the American election at work. Somehow, my colleagues have gotten the impression that I am our residential American politics expert... to the extent that I spent an hour this morning telling a guy what Guantanimo Bay is, how congress works, and what the deal with the American Constitution is.

I realize none of that is really indepth information or anything, so I was surprised the guy didn't know about it. I was even more surprised that, apparently, I sound like I know what I'm talking about, when I have a really simple, basic understanding of how stuff works.

I've said it before: my English degree has taught me how to give the impression that I know what I'm talking about.

J.K. Simmons is one of the best voice actors around.

You know who's a really amazing character actor?

Gary Oldman. I usually don't recognize him in a lot of stuff he does, and he has done a lot of stuff.

He's playing Winston Churchill in an upcoming film.

He was the bad guy in The Fifth Element.

He played a pimp in True Romance

He's fantastic.

You know who Mark Hamill also voiced? Fire Lord Ozai. THAT blew MY mind.

I know; though I back when I watched Avatar it was with Polish dubbing (it was... about six years ago so my English skill wasn't good enough) and now I'm rewatching in English. So I haven't heard him yet :P

It was great fun.  We were making jokes about war cries, and one of my friends who's a practitioner of the old Norse religion came up to bat/sword.  And someone shouted, "IKEA!" as a war cry.

Our "pitcher" broke down in giggles for a long moment.

Anyway, the one guy I don't like didn't show.  And I was also assured that he tends to keep his politics on Facebook and off of real life.  So all went OK.

See, you don't use baseball bats in Pumpkin Katana Baseball.  You use swords, crowbars, and other weapons.  Axes are OK, but they're difficult to wield effectively.  Baseball bats are the most boring option available.

Or they're just acknowledging you as their superior and hoping you will gift them with food.  Cause that's why they lick.  Because you might give them food.

Ooo, new chapter!

What about... barbed wire-wrapped baseball bats but you don't even throw the pumpkin you just lay it on the ground and beat the storm storming stormity storm out of it?

Why are dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets so much more appealing than other chicken nuggets?

Agreed! The first role I ever saw him in was J Jonah Jameson in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, so whenever I realize that he's voicing a part, that's the image that appears in my mind. XD He is also the voice of Cave Johnson in the Portal 2 video game. It's really funny to hear him ranting about burning a house down with combustible lemons and imagine that it's J Jonah Jameson speaking.
