Not sure what I'll do when I finally catch up and have to wait on new episodes just like everyone else.

It's out in the middle of nowhere (I think it was on the way to San Jose- hah! always get a kick out of saying that) and just seeing the sign is pure happiness. It's also a lifesaver if you're stuck at the end of the Alphabet Game.

I can relate to this - I just found out the are not as many Steven Universe episodes out as I though; I will soon catch up... What do you do when you are caught up? You have to find another thing to do... At least I still am not up to date with cosmere. That will change in January, though. Edited September 20, 2016 by Oversleep

I've got more TV shows to catch up on, and my library has the Night Vale novel, so I'm good on entertainment. Quiver recommended a few other podcasts a while back, so if they're free or not too expensive, I'll have something else to listen to while I'm doing chores. 1

One of my high school history teachers told our class about Intercourse. Apparently at some point a new high school was being built in the area and the school board was trying to decide what to name it. Some wanted to name it Intercourse High School and others wanted a different name, and they couldn't agree until someone shouted from the back of the room, "Give me an I!" cheerleader-style. And the thought of having their cheerleaders spell out "Intercourse" during football games settled the debate because after that, nobody wanted to call it Intercourse High School. 6 hours ago, Kaymyth said: Missouri just likes to steal other cities' names. Mexico, Cuba, Venice, New London, Versailles (do NOT ask how it's pronounced - you won't like the answer). There's even a Texas County whose county seat is Houston. And me? I grew up in Memphis, MO. It's in Scotland County, just 20 miles down the road from Lancaster. Another one of our school rivals was Milan (also a cringeworthy pronunication). Hahaha. There's a London in Ohio as well, and I think a Versailles too. (Ours is pronounced ver-SALES; is that how the Missouri locals say it too?) We also have Russia, pronounced ROO-shee. When I lived in Virginia, nobody could agree on how to pronounce Norfolk: NOR-fick or NOR-folk. Same thing with Staunton; some people used the same vowel as "cat" for the first syllable, and some people used the same vowel as "caught." Then there was McGaheysville. All the locals pronounced it "muh-GACK-eez-vill." 1 hour ago, Mistrunner said: I love Zzyzx! I haven't personally been to Zzyzx, but I see pictures of the sign for the highway exit every time I go to one of Brandon Mull's signings and he gives his PowerPoint presentation because that's where he got the name for the demon prison in his Fablehaven books. And Midnight Marinara, because I will keep recommending it DX Also Lore, Lore is great.
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I am doing a history PiP (Personal Interest Project) and I have no idea what topic to pic. "You will need to think of a historical event, issue or personality that you are interested in, research it, and report back on it" What the hell? That is sooo vague, and what about things like Mythology, which don't fit into any of those categories. And we can't do subjects we have already done. That means no to: Mythology Medieval England Ancient Japan Industrial Revolution History of Australia And I reckon Ancient Japan, the samurai in particular would have been a good PIP task, as well as mythology, which I absolutely love. Do you guys have any ideas for the topic I should do my project on?

Do you guys have any ideas for the topic I should do my project on? A couple things you could do is Write something on mythology anyway. Write something about greek theater and focus on mythology Write about a famous Samurai or whatever? Basically, stretch the assignment a little and take the fight later if they complain.
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 That's the thing, I have to confirm my topic before I can do the assignment Any ideas other than the ones I posted? I'm gonna try and do samurai, but I want some backups
Zathoth Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Try some mythology, I love mythology myself.

Right now, they have (I believe) two series ongoing; the Black Tapes, and Tanis. Not sure how much more to say though; I went into those shows absolutely blind, so... don't wanna spoil anything.
The Sovereign Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Change is overrated. That failed experiment is over. Anyways... more Lunker.

Napoleon chinese emperors the invention of fireworks the original Mulan story you could do art history, like how cameras impacted art styles, you could talk about why surrealism came about, that kind of thing. History can have a lot of overlap with philosophy. You could also look at different ancient philosophers and how they influenced each ofher, or compare and contrast ideas of those who never encountered each other's work. You could compare how Herodotus wrote history to Thucydides to historical fiction. That's super interesting. Or going on comic books, look at different cultures hero stories, what that says about the culture, compare and contrast across eras and continents.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 You could also look at a mythological event, like the Trojan War, and compare and contrast historical evidence surrounding it. 1

Now I'm lost in Night Vale (Thanks, @TwiLyghtSansSparkles) Hey, Shard family, thanks for putting up with me and being my friends!
