Why the mechanism that allows that even exists? Why do the author of the clip has to prove he's innocent to have his clip back on youtube? Why do we allow companies to take down things without any control? They just "say" (I know it's a work of algorithm, not a human) to take it down and it's taken down. No questions asked, the author doesn't even had a chance to defend himself. And he shouldn't even have to defend himself, it's on the accuser to prove that the accused is guilty.

But it's worse: not only Fox forces something to be taken down, they also stole from that person. That's so wrong on so many levels.

Problem is Copyright Law: you want to protect people's works from being claimed by someone else, and you want to encourage people to keep creating. Sometimes it's obvious who is the original creator and who is the copycat, but videos can be more ambiguous.

Just stole the peanut butter from the kitchen. I'm eating it now.

It's almost midnight. I should probably go to bed.

But peanut butter.

I used to do that all the time when I lived with my parents. Just not at midnight. I also like pickle juice. (Not at the same time as the peanut butter, mind you.)

The American here probably won't get this, but the Aussies (or very politically aware people) might get it:

Basically, Clark and Dawe run a weekly show satirising Australian politics. And, in this one, the media. As well as politicians. It's hilarious.

Is there an American equivalent?

EDIT: I'm still watching them. This one is amazing.

And the best yet.

I'm the #1 student in my grade, and I'm generally perceived as my class's likely valedictorian.

I'm also the student who asked to go into the library to work with his group on a history project, then took an hour-long nap at the library table instead. Yes, I went in there to sleep deliberately.

Something doesn't quite match up here... :P

I'm second or third right now, and I asked to go help people with the final chem lab yesterday... only to spend pretty much the entire day pouring hydrochloric and sulfuric acid onto random things that were laying around. I did experimentally determine that when spilled on a safety glove, 12 Molar HCl eats through it in about twenty minutes.

I felt I want a drink. So I came up to my dad and asked what do we have and what can I do with it. He proposed whisky with cola, but I said that's what I usually drink. Then he proposed Cuba Libre (rum + cola + lemon juice) but it turned out we have run out of rum.

So he said I could try a classic : 2 parts of vodka, 1 part of any liqueur, 4 parts of orange juice. After going through the shelves, I found brown cocoa liqueur. He warned me it's quite experimental to compose something like that, but I went with it.

And you know what? I love it.

Me? I'd just go for a beer :P Maybe a porter...

But I still might try this in the next few weeks.

About t to see Civil War. So far, one preview has been for a movie that looks suspiciously similar to Jaws, and another TMNT movie. I'm trying to save money right now, so this works out well.

I agree--those trailers did not pique my interest at all. The ones for Doctor Strange and X-Men: Apocalypse, on the other hand... Now THAT'S a different story.

I'm listening to Wicked and I kinda zoned out because I was surfing the internets

and then I realized Defying Gravity was on

and I was singing

So apparently all you need to do to find me in a crowd is (look to the western sky!) start playing Defying Gravity, because I cannot listen to that song without singing along to it.

Humming quietly singing along or full on belting it out singing along?

If they didn't sing their answer, they threw away their shot.

What is Alexander Hamilton and there's a million bucks I haven't won. Just you wait! Just you wait!

Im bored, or lonely... I can never seem to be able to tell the difference... and Im having an internal battle over if I should read American Gods or The Furies of Calderon first...

Posted

That is a hard choice, but I'd say it depends on how long you want to take. Furies draws you in, and makes you want to read the next five books. American gods only has one sequel that I'm aware of. Assuming I'm thinking of the right book.

I have no choice.

The first one sucked. Like, seriously; it had negative value. And yet, I must go and see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

I mean, Beebop and Rock steady are draws, certainly...but Steven Amell.

I feel obligated to support Oliver Queen.

I didn't realize I used so many rainbows in that chapter.^_^

And that is very good advice.

Also, protip: If your chips go stale, put them on a baking sheet and toss them in the oven for a few minutes at 200F. #lowincomebudgeting
