So, I was just thinking about a WoB that says that the end of SA 5 is hidden in the epigraphs, and I had a few thoughts.

We also have a WoB that Mistborn Era 2 takes place after SA 5. There is another Shard on Scadrial, and for the purposes of this theory, I'm going to assume that it is Odium.

So, what if at the end of SA 5, someone releases Odium from the Greater Roshar system to save their own planet? Odium might offer to spare them if they break the bonds that Honor placed upon him to limit him to the Greater Roshar system

Evidence:

"So the night will reign, for the choice of Honor is life..."

This Death Rattle could mean that someone honorable (basically all of the KR) would choose to save the lives of everyone on Roshar, but it would cause Odium to reign everywhere 5else.

"I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it give us further breath to draw"

This is another Death Rattle; I think it symbolizes someone metaphorically cutting the bonds restraining Odium in order to delay him destroying Roshar.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this!

To me it seems that the first death rattle means that Odium wins because mankind acted with honor (in line with tsravangians belief that he can only save the world by being dishonorable) and the second one is a reference to the parshmen: Odium seems nothing like a small child but the parshmen are harmless and innocent but have the potential to become vicious machines under odiums control. Cutting a throat seems like nothing to do with cutting bonds.

However it does seem as though Odium was released in the AoL books but the death rattles u supplied as evidence don't match up.

I don't think we have another Shard on Scadrial, just another Shard that is indirectly interfering. There is no way Harmony would let a Shard slip past him and settle on Scadrial.

I thought it was the ending to SA as a whole hidden in the epigraphs of the first book, not just the first half of SA.

Also yeah, there isn't another Shard on Scadrial currently. However, the safe assumption is that another Shard is 'attacking' Scadrial.

I believe this is the WoB we're talking about?

Q: The ending of mistborn was hidden in the first chapter epigraphs. Is there something similar to that in The Way of Kings
A: There are but they are hidden in different places. The last chapter of the stormlight archive is somewhere in these two books.

Seems to me it might not be as simple as looking through the epigraphs, and also it's the end to the whole series, not SA5.

Gadol spit up blood, coughing. “They break the land itself!” he hissed, eyes wild. “They want it, but in their rage they will destroy it. Like the jealous man burns his rich things rather than let them be taken by his enemies! They come!”

Here's a death rattle that isn't actually in the epigraphs (it's from when one of the Bridge 4 guys died), and though it seems like a long shot, it might relate to the same things that are controlling the Set in BoM, the red-eyed creatures who decide Scadrial is too dangerous and that they need to destroy it. Overall though, since this is the end to the whole series we're trying to figure out here I think it's going to be the kind of thing that isn't that obvious until we're a few more books in. Not unguessable before it happens, but probably will be a lot easier once we hit the SA5 area.

I think it would make sense if Odium was freed at the end of SA5, and that it would be seen as a victory in the eyes of the Rosharans. (They don't know other worlds are in danger!) But if that's the case I don't know what the second half will deal with... I don't see Odium returning any time soon if he does leave.

Perhaps they could banish Odium after SA5 and the latter half will take place in the Tranquiline Halls defeating the creatures of Odium that were left behind? Worldhoppers are able to use the powers granted by other shards when not on the same planet as that shard, it would make sense that if not all of Odium's creatures were wiped out, they would still be able to be quite a bother for the Heralds.

Can we assume that the tranquiline halls are another planet in the Rosharian system, possibly Braize?

I was under the impression that Braize was actually "Hell" or "Damnation."

But, perhaps they are both on the same planet?

One theory I've seen a lot is that Braize was the Tranquiline Halls, but Odium or something else drove humanity from it to Roshar, and ended up turning it into Damnation. It's where it's suspected the Heralds go when they "die", between Desolations.

Wasn't there a theory that the Halls are actually Yolen? Not sure if it holds up, but it would make sense, I think.

Isn't Ashyn inhabited though, by the Silence Divine people? That's what Coppermind says, at any rate. As for what the Halls are, I've seen theories that they're Braize, Yolen, Ashyn, a spaceship of Yolenian colonists, even Spiritual Realm or a region of Cognitive. I admit I'm quite partial to idea of Tranquiline Halls being Braize, because fighting to take it back seems more likely than with others, what with it being Odium's world and all.

Well, right, I don' believe he's invested either, I didn't want it to mean that Odium invested itself there (tinfoil hat theory: Odium wanted to just swing by and crash the party, Tanavast trapped him there). But Heralds go to Braize to get tortured, and Odium is said to be on Braize, hence I suspect Braize is (was) Tranquiline Halls.

The Way of Kings Cover

long for the days before the Last Desolation.

The age before the Heralds abandoned us and the Knights Radiant turned against us. A time when there was still magic in the world and honor in the hearts of men.

The world became ours, and we lost it. Nothing, it appears, is more challenging to the souls of men than victory itself.

Or was that victory an illusion all along? Did our enemies realize that the harder they fought, the stronger we resisted? Perhaps they saw that the heat and the hammer only make for a better grade of sword. But ignore the steel long enough, and it will eventually rust away.

There are four whom we watch. The first is the surgeon, forced to put aside healing to become a soldier in the most brutal war of our time. The second is the assassin, a murderer who weeps as he kills. The third is the liar, a young woman who wears a scholar's mantle over the heart of a thief. The last is the highprince, a warlord whose eyes have opened to the past as his thirst for battle wanes.

The world can change. Surgebinding and Shardwielding can return; the magics of ancient days can become ours again. These four people are key.

One of them may redeem us.

And one of them will destroy us.

Words of Radiance Cover

The Knights Radiant must stand again.

The ancient oaths have at last been spoken; the spren return. Men seek that which was lost. I fear the struggle will destroy them.

It is the nature of the magic. A broken soul has cracks into which something else can be fit. Surgebindings, the powers of creation themselves. They can brace a broken soul; but they can also widen its fissures.

The Windrunner, lost in a shattered land, balanced upon the boundary between vengeance and honor. The Lightweaver, slowly being consumed by her past, searching for the lie that she must become. The Bondsmith, born in blood and death, striving to rebuild what was destroyed. The Explorer, straddling the fates of two peoples, forced to choose between slow death and a terrible betrayal of all she believes.

It is past time for them to awaken, for the Everstorm looms.

And the Assassin has arrived.

I am going to throw this here and say that these prophecies are not from Roshar, but instead are Terris Prophecies. Pure speculations, but it works in favor for some theories here.

Why would Terris people prophesize of other planets though? Has it happened before?

So far it looks like Szeth is heralded as the one who will destroy.

It doesn't have to have been happened before. There's always a first time.

Also, if you look in the direction where saving Roshar(freeing Odium) at the end of SA5, would mean leaving other Shardworlds to be invaded by Odium. Then it could be said that the prophecy does not originate from Roshar, as 'one of them might save us'(might let Odium reign chained on Greater Roshar) and 'one of them will destroy us'(break Odium's chains). 'Us' meaning the other Shardword/s.

It's a stretch, but Brandon's prophecies are a stretch by themselves.(check Mistborn)

They are Preservation's people, are they not? So, unless Preservation had some forebodings from Roshar (unlikely), they shouldn't be able to write any prophecies of other planets.

Perhaps it is a Shard speaking. Or maybe Frost. We know little about him, maybe these things are instructions to the Shard.

Reading these I got the impression that these words are from the High Spren or, maybe, the Stormfather. While I think the Terris idea is intriguing I highly doubt it is correct.
