Can you even burn cookies? Or are you talking about real cookies and not the stabby-stabby type?

You mean you've never heard of cookiemancy before? :P

Thanks. :) Round 1 was a lot less terrifying thank I thought it'd be. I found a nice studio, close to work, under budget even with utilities, in a safe area. Best of all, when my parents visit, they'll either have to get a hotel or sleep in the closets.

Seriously, it's big enough for me and Bruce, but no one else.

When you get a bigger place you should insist that the other bedroom is Bruces so they still have to sleep in a closet.

About to go apartment hunting. I've read up on what to do and what to avoid, but this is still my first time and I'm still going at it alone. If you could send me good thoughts or pray for me or what have you, I'd be much obliged.

Don't worry, Twi. Your mighty adulting power will guide you now that your parents can no longer try to supress it with brain weasels.

The brain weasels shall be conquered!

(Seriously, though, mine do pop back up from time to time.  You never truly eradicate them, you just learn how to stomp them into submission.)

I approve of this apartment.  If it's enough space for you, definitely mark that into the Probable column.

Already did. I circled it on my list, beside two I cross off because they won't have availability until April 15.

And some pint-sized cremholes spat on my hotel room door while I was gone. So I left a note: "I saw you. I know who you are. I'm waiting for you to clean it. :) " Smiley included. I didn't actually see them, but I'm hoping it scares those kids into behaving. And maybe not shouting back and forth at 11:30 PM. <_<

So I'm going to be in Orlando next week for a conference. Anyone in that area want to hang out and have a beer or two?

If you're ever in Australia maybe, people always tell me I don't get out enough. I keep telling them that I do, I went out that one time, you know that year that ended in a 9 I think?

If someone ever gets really lost and ends up in western Sweden I can keep you company.

I plan on visiting eventually and if I could live there without going through all the terribleness of having to move I probably would. Sweden is awesome.

And learning another language XD

But yeah sweden is pretty cool. I am not complaining, mostly.

I like learning other languages though so I don't mind that part. :P

Though I do tend to try to learn too many at once and end up switching from german to indonesian mid sentence.

Swedish is supposedly not insanely difficult to learn from what I have heard, so, I dunno, go for it? XD

That would probably be my problem as well if I actually tried to learn any of them seriously XD

Spring is in the air!

By which I mean bugs. Bugs are in the air. This is Texas.

... Bugs are in the air is an awesome song title!

Back in my day, we fought hordes of gigantic bugs from outer space! They even dropped a giant rock on Argentina, which is why you youngsters haven't heard of it.

Back then, men were men and only soldiers could vote! Not like your newfangled franchisement of all comers and goers...and candy was a nickel!

Also the title you'd find on a very meta indie game.

A humorous, retro game about fighting against an invasion of Space Insects. I love it.

Back in my days you did the same with pretty much no foothold, a bug could push you into the endless chasms and that was that. Only the toughest survived. You had to time your jumps and shoot the bugs at the same time. You young ones at least had foot holds.

I am filling out an application for one of the apartments I saw today.

You know all these "If you could live in any of those, which would you pick?" and there's the list with Hogwarts, Narnia, Middle-Earth and so on?
After Hunger Games became a hit, "Panem" started showing up as one of the possible answers.
This annoys me to no end. Seriously, people, what's wrong with you?! Who would like to live there?!

BTW, it's sad that there never are the "Four Corners of Civilization" to pick. For a non-cosmere world, this probably would be my favorite choice - anyone can learn magic, it's practically science and they have advanced science to learn. (Not to mention a whole city of taverns near the University)

For cosmere world... You know, when you read about it, Roshar seems to be a cool place, but statistically speaking you would probably be a peasant. I'd pick probably Sel, I'm devoted to cracking cosmere mysteries. After becoming Elantrian I invent both higher-level languages of Dor and assembly of Dor. A whole immortality to do it? Count me in.

(After I become superpowerful, worldhop to Scadrial, find lerasium/ use my advanced Investiture skills to hack the mists an become Mistborn and Feruchemist if I can manage it, then obtaining Breaths on Nalthis shouldn't be very hard, then to Roshar to help them. And probably bond a spren)

Autuum is coming!

Not that it ever stopped the bugs round here. I hope I am not infected by Zika virus, or anything else.

Are you moving to that planet or being born on that planet? If you're moving there, Nalthis is really the only option in order to get easy access to Magic systems. All the others you have to be born on the planet with the proper ancestry. (Or get the heck beaten out of you.) Breaths and Awaking are the way to go. Not to mention the most versatile.
