One of our neighbors has decided to celebrate Earth Day with one of the quaint rural rituals we have 'round these parts!

...by which I mean, bulldozing one of the wooded areas on his property.

This is not what you would call a "green" part of Texas. -_-

Oh, look. Another rant about Millennials disguised as "news."

And people wonder why I don't like the New York Times. <_<

This is why I just get my news from the wikipedia homepage, actual world events without needless speculation is all I want in my news.  <_<

But hey, let's all just keep criticizing everyone younger than you, it's not like it's possible for them to actually be having a tougher time or anything right? They're all jobless freeloaders because they are just too lazy, it couldn't have anything to do with the job market or economy or anything...

It's NPR for me. Although it was the lack of screaming that initially drew me in (seriously, all of the major news networks here are about 10% news, 90% talking heads shouting down their guests—and that's when there's actual news to report) they're also long on news and short on speculation.

What gets me is that the writer of that piece clearly cherry-picked incidents that would make the millennials at that company look like immature, self-centered, entitled little twits. It's like the first experience he had with millennials was on the social justice Tumblr blogs, and he's never forgiven us for that bad impression. <_<

Anybody here playing tak? I'm under the same nick.

On another note, I consider it a crime that Assassin's Creed Unity had SUCH A STORMING GOOD trailer and the game (from what I heard) is at best mediocre.

Seriously, the trailer hyped me so much that I considered buying it (and then I reminded myself that I have a lot of AC games to play through before that. And that I won't be able to run it until I buy and assemble my own PC).

And of course, that one company that is definitely representative of every single millennials couldn't have possibly had any other reason like just having a terrible management...

Or even just inexperienced management that hasn't gotten the hang of hiring the right people yet. It happens sometimes.

Yeah! NPR! Florida Institute of Technology broadcasts it and I listen to it every morning. :D

And Mestiv, how does your signature know my current location??

Is it accurate for you? Mine's listed as the wrong state

Mestiv's sig is putting me at "Bow Bowing" (near Campbelltown, apparently), which is a 30-45 minute drive from where I really am. Not so close that I'm worried about being tracked down. If you'd had my suburb, that would have been creepy.

Also, 1000 posts! (plus a couple because I didn't notice. Must have past it this morning.)

I presume it knows (sees) your ISP address, which can be associated with an area.

I'm really not sure where to put this, especially since it seems like it'd be kinda silly to create a whole thread for it.

So my birthday is in like six weeks. I'll be seventeen. I'm going to be leaving the country like the day after, and when I come back, I'll be moving directly to Provo Utah instead of back here to Ohio.

So I wanna have a big party, see most of my friends for the last time, have one last hurrah before I become a Wizarding World Adult ;)

The thing is, I haven't done a birthday party since I was like eight. I didn't have friends I wanted to invite to a party after that really, and last year I went on s date instead of doing a party.

So I'm trying to come up with ideas, but I'm stumped. What're some fun things to do? I'm trying to avoid it being just a themed board game night or anything, but don't want to break the bank either...

Now I'm wondering if you live anywhere near my parents. Although I'm in the Orem/Provo area to go to BYU, they're in a suburb about an hour north of Cincinnati.

As for party ideas... I personally really enjoy board game nights, but if you don't wanna do that, you could watch one of you and your friends' favorite movies. Or one thing my family likes to do when we have friends over is play Rock Band together, but that only works if you have the game and controllers (and friends who like classic rock). Or maybe you could go bowling? I've done that for birthday parties a few times. I've gotten very used to laughing at my abysmal bowling skills.

Mestiv, your signature is very, very creepy. The location thing is a nice touch.

Your signature can't record the information it's reflecting at me, right? >.>

Orlion is right, generally speaking. I'm on my mobile now, but when I'll find a moment I will make a topic with some explanations.

Mestiv's sig is pegging me in South Jordan, Utah, USA, which is about a 45-minute drive north of where I really am. I think I'm more curious about how it knows what part of the forum I'm looking at.

His sig is an image that is generated on demand by his own site. Not that I know exactly how to do it, but I know that it's possible to work out where someone has come from when they click a link - for example, sometimes you see Kickstarter projects post the stats of how people discover their project, and they are able to differentiate between people who get there from social media, from a search engine, from direct links, from the kickstarter search page, etc. When your webbrowser follows the link in Mestiv's sig, it's somehow been set up to work out where it's come from.

@Mestiv: Your sig is very cool.

Edit: While I think of it - I know there was someone who had wanted to essentially have a counter of the number of people to visit see their sig in their sig. Would that sorta thing work with what you're doing? I'm guessing you'd be able to count the # of request, yes?

Edit edit: (Twas Seonid, I think, who wanted a counter in their sig).

Yes, it would be posiible, however it wouldn't be that simple to make it precise, because if there are several posts on a page, the signature is requested only once. But that can be done.

Thanks for the ideas! I am thinking that a Just Dance off with wii sports resort could be fun, than Princess Bride or something.

Or there's a few amusement parks around here, and mum might be able to find some coupons. I'm not sure how my best friend is with roller coasters though, so I'm not sure about that one.

Please keep the ideas coming guys! The more I think about this the more I realize how bad I am at figuring this kind of thing out :(
