Maddie woke up a 4 in the morning and decided to claw 2 pieces of Christmas clothes into shreds.

Is my fashion that bad?

Yeah, I bought myself some new shirts at American Eagle, brought them home, and one was almost immediately shredded by my Quick cat.

Another cat I was temporarily taking care of shredded my jeans because he insisted on climbing halfway up them and hang there for a bit.

They're adorable scamps, aren't they? :)

Pottermore: The Malfoy family grew wealthy by buying up real estate, wizard and Muggle. Before the Statute of Secrecy, one Malfoy wanted to marry Queen Elizabeth, a fact that was denied in subsequent generations. What a bunch of scumbags.

Pottermore: The Potter family grew wealthy by selling potions to wizards and Muggles, intermarrying with Muggles on occasion. Their one family heirloom could have allowed them to steal anything they liked, including state secrets, but since there's no proof they didn't we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. What great people!

....

Look, Pottermore, I know this is the Malfoys we're talking about, but can't you respect good business sense when you see it?

They are, though my enjoyment is somewhat tempered by the fact that I'm mildly allergic. I can still pet them, just not for long.

"I found a company that's better than a U-Haul!"

"Nice, but you should really consider getting a U-Haul because we suggested it and reasons."

Right.  Because making any other decision would imply that you're better at adulting than they are, and that would just be rude:rolleyes:

They hinted pretty strongly that they want me to get a U-Haul so they can make the drive up there with me, which I pointed out they could do just as well if I took my car. To which they responded that they've driven a lot of U-Hauls, cross-country, with dogs. Oh, and they're going to give me the furniture in the formal living room, so I might have to pay for more space if I go the POD route anyway.

Look, I don't even care about the extra money. I just want the convenience.

It's like they're trying to strangle you to death with the apron strings.  You keep trying to cut them, and they come up with more complicated knots to fix the slices.

Eeyup. -_- And they wonder why I don't like talking to them about my life. It's because they always manage to ruin every victory I have.

Well good thing your parents have yet to discover what you're doing on the Shard.

Wait, what's the job status, Twi?

Officially: Still don't have it. However, they want me to fly out to Iowa for an onsite interview, which will include a formal interview, lunch, a tour of the town, and a storytime for about ten kids. They'll reimburse me for the travel expenses, too, so there's a good chance I'll be moving to Iowa before too long.

What's the job?

Children's Librarian in Algona, IA. The pay isn't terrific (just under $30,000 per year) but since it'll just be me and Bruce, it should be doable, and I'll be able to apply for a better position in a few years if I get it.

Oh, that's great! Glad to hear it. Good luck at the interview!

Thanks! ^_^

A Librarian! Don't defect to their party, and no sacrificing Oculators to make powerful Lenses.

On the other hand, sounds like a great job.

I can't believe I haven't made this joke before, but you had better get yourself some horn rimmed glasses and watch out for Smedrys, because you are about to become a Librarian!

. . . That sounded a lot funnier and less desperate in my head.

Edit: wow, ninja'd. Great minds think alike, Stormgate?

I know not what unholy diety I did offend to be blighted with this ailment, but surely coming up to 24 hours without ssleep, back pain and vomiting more than equals my supposed slight.

I hate everything right now.

I...but...I wasn't thinking about ponies. I was just...but...

besides, Derpy is awesome

So I AM the family Derpy :D

Yeah, giving the cat away is hard, but we got used to it already :) Too bad all Sharders live so far away... If you were all close, I'd give a cat to everyone

Your fashion is not bad, those clothes were awakened and ordered to kill you, she saved your life!

I know the feeling... I get familiars every once in a while, but rarely actual chests and never eggs. :(
