Golden Son was quite good. I really liked it a lot! Probably more then SoS(don't shoot me), but then again, I'm not a huge fan of Era 2 Mistborn. It's good and all, but not my favorite.

*shoots you*

Thanks. Now I'm worried that the judges might think the same, sighs.

The only thing they don't try to critique is my flute playing. Don't ask me why, I stink.

Judges are also trained to see the good as well as the bad. So even if they don't personally like it, they'll tell you what you did well instead of accentuating the negative.

If your parents are anything like mine, it might be that they want you to keep playing the flute because it's a hobby they like their kids to have. If you're familiar with the term "tiger parent," this image might resonate:

Yeah maybe.

And I have my english final due on thursday and they won't stop bugging me. Its to the point where I feel like curling up and crying because the more they tell me to do it the more I flat out don't want to.

I'm sorry. I know how that feels. :( "So did you do your homework?" "I was just about to." "*sigh* You know you have to get started eventually. And you have a test this week, don't you?" "WHY DO YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT MY LIFE WHEN YOU CAN BE ANNOYING ABOUT IT?"

Listen to some music they'd hate, or read something that they wouldn't like. Seriously, when my parents were at their most nagging, I read Harry Potter, and that little bit of rebellion actually made me feel a lot better. It'll take the sting out of having to do whatever they're nagging you about.

It also stinks that they've equated my I don't have the energy to do anything to "I don't care about school."

Are we secretly sisters? <_< Really, my parents did the exact same thing when I was in school, to the point where I had to pretend to be happy and energetic just to keep them off my case. Do your parents, like mine, also not believe depression is a real thing?

Yes. Or rather, they know its a real thing, but I doubt they'll believe me unless I start hurting myself.

I feel awful that's how it is for you guys. :(

I also feel bad that I can't relate . . . :( My mom both has depression, and is just as tired all the time as I am.

...this from the guy who eagerly bounced in to volunteer to beta read for my Mistborn Era 2 fanfic novel.

Even then, they might not. <_< And sitting down and talking with them probably wouldn't help, from what you've said of them so far, so just remember that we're always here if you need to vent. I know it's not a great solution, but I didn't know how to handle my parents back then and I still don't know how to handle them now. But having someone to vent to did and still does help. :)

Yeah, they might pull the "she's just doing it for attention" crap.

I've made up my mind. I'm going to talk to my band director tomorrow. She said that if any of us flutes needed her for anything she was there, and I'm going to see if she can help. I talked to the school counselors and I feel like they did nothing, it was all sympathy and crap. I don't want sympathy, I want advice.

I think that's the best thing you can do here. Unfortunately, I don't think I have any advice to give, since I've handled my parents wrong for going on eleven years now and the only thing I can think to do at this point is leave.

I wonder if she'll be there at lunch. I feel weird asking. Sighs.

In any case, I'm going to try to get some stressful sleep. I really do need to get that essay done tomorrow if I can.

My JCL competition yesterday went well. I won at Certamen and I got a few best in show awards on tests. :D

I'm not quite sure how, though.

Fantastic! I've always had friends go to the Ludi and such, but I never got to play Certamen. :( You're really good with the Latin, I take it?

I'm decent. It was just regionals, and I specialize in myth more than in the language itself. I'll see what happens at mid-state.

With Certamen, I don't know what happened between last year and this year, because last year I was not very good at all. I guess summer study sessions helped.

specify that you want advice. Sometimes it's hard for people to know which one you want. Good luck.

Waiting on validation for the next chapter of A Kind of Magic. Kind of wondering if I should move the story to MuggleNet.

Also, while scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook, I saw an article called "Frying Up Donuts for the Festival of Lights." My brain decided it really said "Flying Donuts for the Festival of Lights."

Delightful? Thoughts on flying Hanukkah donuts?:P

They're be hard to catch, especially if they flew to the top of those giant public-menorah-lighting menorahs. (I'm thinking HP 1 catching the right key).

If the wings are made of sugar frosting though....

It'd probably be more fun than that scene, though. I mean, Harry didn't get to eat the key he caught.

Speaking of Harry Potter, chapter two of my fic is up.
