A commenter on Brandon's Goodreads blog post was talking about Oathbringer, made a typo and wound up calling it Oathbronger.

Why can I not stop giggling I need help.

I don't know but the bronger part also greatly amuses me.

If anyone was wondering, I must assure them that I have been spending my Saturday in a remarkably productive, proactive and thoughtful manner.

Me: I think I'll try and finish the next chapter of my Potterfic.

*phone rings*

Operator next door: Hi, I'm going to lunch, so you'll have to field the deluge of calls you'll get for the next thirty minutes!

Me: <_< Oh well. At least I'll put off a visit from the mystery down voter for another half hour.

Hey, does anyone have any weird, horrifying fairy tales/folk tales for me?

Hans Christian Andersen's original version of "The Little Mermaid" is pretty horrifying.

Really, most of the original fairy tale stories were pretty hard core to scare the kids straight.

But did you know that Santa has a one man Black Ops operative that takes care of doing his dirty work for him called Knecht Ruprecht?

I did not, this is the exact kind of weird stuff Im looking for.

I need inspiration for the story I am basing on that dream I had, which I am now naming A Dream of Wind so people know what in damnation I am talking about.

On writing excuses Mary robinette kowal once mentioned an unadaptable one about a kid who walks too close to the fireplace and spontaneously combusts....

Tell me if this isn't what you're looking for, but here's a site hosting ghost and folk stories from the American South.

I just had the image of a kid walking by a fireplace, suddenly exploding in flames without touching them and dropping in a neat pile. I cannot stop viggling( a typo which I'm never gonna change because it made me giggle) Edited by ChickenPlague

Those early fairy tales were not child appropriate.

Many of them weren't intended for children at all. They were horror stories, ghost stories, folk tales told by, to, and for adults to pass the time. There were some meant to scare kids straight, but the notion that fairy tales are for children is a pretty recent (and Disneyfied) thing.
