Left he/him Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 First was The Gathering Storm. Alcatraz, Towers of Midnight, and Way of Kings all followed pretty quickly. My favorite is the Mistborn Trilogy.
Kaieldell she/her Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 My first was Alcatraz, but that's more of a joke than anything. It was nice and all that, but my favorite will always be his more complex fantasies. mistborn, or sa. i mean, it'll probably tilt toward sa, especially when sa3 comes out...
Tetriona she/her Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The first book I read by Brandon Sanderson was Mistborn, but... (nobody kill me please)... I never finished it. (Yes, I was an idiot and yes, I have now rectified that mistake.) I read half of Mistborn and then stopped for a while. I ended up reading Way of Kings a few months later and was completely hooked. I finished Way of Kings and Words of Radiance in the same week. (Sleep? What the heck is "sleep"?) I've read almost all of his books now but my favorite is probably still Words of Radiance.
Stormgate he/him Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 The first book I read by Brandon Sanderson was Mistborn, but... (nobody kill me please)... I never finished it. Out of curiosity, why did you stop reading it?
Tetriona she/her Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Um... I don't really have a valid excuse so... I'm just going to plead insanity on this one. In all seriousness though, I believe i was in the middle of another very long series at the time and I wasn't very interested in any other books. It wasn't until after I read Stormlight Archive that I realized that Mistborn was written by the same author. It was then that I started reading his other books.
little wilson she/her Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 My first book was Mistborn, but my favorite series is Stormlight. Book is WoR, for the simple reason that my name is in the acknowledgments. If the criteria is less subjective, though, my favorite book would be one of these three: WoK, Mistborn, or Warbreaker.
Arraenae Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The first Sanderson book I borrowed was Mistborn TFE, but I didn't actually read it (the cover and the summary seemed rather boring). Later, I borrowed The Rithmatist, read it, reread it, reread it again, and then reread it for the fourth time. After that, I started looking at other things that Brandon Sanderson had written. I'm not sure if I can pick a favorite book. It seems rather unfair to have to pick between Mistborn and Stormlight Archive...
The Invested Beard Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 First for me was Mistborn, favorite is Stormlight Archive mainly because it is the focus of all the cosmere stuff right now. Although the Wax and Wayne books are getting close to that level as well and I'm starting to like them more and more. I guess I just like big picture stuff.
firstRainbowRose she/her Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The first book I read was Elantris. For considering in the "well, Elantris sucks so of course something would bit it for favorite" theory my favorites are: 1: White Sand 2: Warbreaker 3: Elantris As for why, I'm a sucker for a good politics/romance book.
CarolaDavar she/her Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 My favorite book is Words of Radiance. My first sanderson book is Mistborn
pfranklin51 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 My first two were WoK and WoR. They're fantastic and I absolutely love the world, but Mistborn is my favorite (for now). I also REALLY liked The Rithmatist. 1
Kynedath Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I first read mistborn, but I greatly prefer SA. You tell 'em Bruthah!
Kairos Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 First book I read by Sanderson was Elantris. (okay, so I read WoT first, but that doesn't really count). My favourite is Mistborn: TFE, which I read second. So, I confirm your theory(if you count the second Sanderson book as the first if the first is Elantris). Although, Alcatraz is very, very close behind Mistborn....
jondoe Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 My first was his first Wheel of Time book. Liked it so much i went and bought Mistborn 1 and have him as one of my 3 favorite authors now.
Lilamal he/him Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) My first Brandon Sanderson book was the first Wheel of Time book he wrote. I later stumbled across Steelheart almost by accident and remembered those three books, so I checked out some of his other books and read the Way of Kings. That was about when he became my favorite author, taking the prize from Robert Jorden. My favorite book was Words of Radiance. Edit: Actually, I think the first books I read were the first and second Alcatraz books, but I forgot about them because they are so different from his usual writing style. Who Sharded? Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 My favorite book is Words of Radiance. My first sanderson book is Mistborn This. While I understand the logic the TC is going with, I don't think it applies to Brandon's books, at least not from what I've seen. I have seen this phenomenon with some of my favorite bands, like The National, where most peoples' favorite album is the one they heard first.

Cephandrius Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 My first and favorite Sanderson book was the Mistborn paperback. The first book will always hold a deeply special place in my heart. I was hooked forever from the second or third page, when I read three words that blew my mind: Kelsier burned tin. I actually stopped reading for a while trying to puzzle out what that could mean and how that would work. I kept going to find out, and was not disappointed.
Kingsdaughter613 she/her Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Technically, my first Sanderson book was not a Sanderson series. It The Gathering Storm from WoT. After that my father decided Brandon might be good and brought home Way of Kings. That was my first real introduction to Brandon. My favorite series is Mistborn, all eras. I just love Scadrial and its magic systems.
Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Way of King's bro Ultimate badassery
tsquared84 he/him Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I discovered Sanderson by reading the first Infinity Blade novella after playing the game. Then I read The Way of Kings, and that is my favorite novel of his.
