Calderis he/him Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 People who don't fact check before they share things. I just had to provide a link showing that a man who was only 9 at the start of WWII wasn't an SS officer, because my grandmother disagrees with his politics. It's not hard to look this stuff up... 2
Sami she/her Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 When someone says "imma...." It sounds/looks so immature and stupid.

I had to deal with that so much during high school. My classmates thought I was dumb to be reading when they were going around watching Dora the Explorer and Spongebob. Heres a work related peeve: Would anyone consider it good business practice to not update a schools student count? One of the publishers keeps sending us way to many student consumables and we have a hard time finding a place to store the extras. It's like the situation goes "So School A has 600 students. Let's send them 600 every year! *1 year later* Student count down by 50%? Must be a typo, sending 600!"
Penumbra Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 When people mention weight at the lunch table. (á la: "Oh I SHOULDN'T be eating this I gained SOOO much weight over the holidays!") Ok, but it's literally the least important thing in my life to know how much you weigh, and now you've just made the entire table uncomfortable about their lunch boxes. 1

Darkness Ascendant he/him Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 When people mix up much and many, use two comparatives/superlatives etc, when peeps mess up the very basics of grammar and syntax it just makes me want to hit them on the head with WoR. When people talk about depression lightly or where they use "depressed" where "upset", "miffed", "sad" etc would work so much better.
Draginon he/him Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 When a contest/sweepstakes has exceptions. You know how many I've avoided because the only way to enter to have a twitter or Facebook account? Then there's the ones where it's US residents only, barring Puerto Rico citizens despite them being closer to us than Hawaii. Also sometimes we have friends or family living overseas and want to have them be our #2 but because they don't live here they can't participate! Why can't they make exceptions to the rule on that one?
Steeldancer he/him Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 People who are scared of butterflies and other harmless things. Honestly. It's so stupid! A butterfly couldn't hurt you if it was a murderous psychopath intent on eliminating the human race! If you're going to be afraid of something, be afraid of something logical. Like dying. Or spiders. Or heights. Something that genuinely improves your chances of surviving. Personally im not scared of any animals or heights, but I can understand reasonable fears. But butterflies? *shakes head*
Sunbird she/her Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 @Flash I have a pretty similar reaction when I hear of people being afraid of moths. I can't think of any kind of moth that can hurt you, and some of them don't even eat for the rest of their lives once they come out of the cocoon. What really makes no sense is that most people I've met who have moth phobias aren't the least bit bothered by butterflies. So moths are sometimes fuzzy and usually fly at night. Why does that make them any scarier than butterflies? 1
Draginon he/him Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Here's one I had to encounter today: People who park their cars at the gas pump, don't bother fueling their car and spends several minutes getting their cigarettes or snacks before returning to their car to start pumping! 5 cars around me got filled in the time idiot in front of me started pumping and I couldn't back up because someone pulled up behind me so I was stuck for close to 15 minutes waiting for this guy to return with his snacks. Also there were other people in the car, his wife and kids I assume, so why didn't she start the pump? 1

But butterflies? *shakes head* Yeah, well...sometimes when people have phobias of things like that, it's not always because they're scared of it itself, it's more because they associate that object with a negative event. I mean, that exact example? I remember a story with someone who was like that. Reason being, when he was young he found his mother dead. Covered in butterflies (they will often flock to things like blood and urine due to the salts). I mean, I know that's an extreme and unrealistic example, but some of those phobias do stem from things.

Many people fear spiders even though we don't live around poisonous spiders, for example. I am afraid of moths because I've had quite a few instances where they got stuck in my hair or inside my clothes, which is a terribly uncomfortable feeling :b

Mestiv he/him Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 My fiancee is afraid or rather is extremely disgusted by... buttons. And this phobia has a real name: Koumpounophobia. So I guess it beats all those fears of moths or spiders in being ridiculous But it's real, and it causes some real problems in day to day life.

Nathrangking he/him Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 People who are so obstinate in their reading habits to the point of dismissiveness and even outright rudeness bother me to no end. (I once went to school with someone who was snobbish as far as his reading habits were concerned and lets just say it was extremely unpleasant.)

Now I have to look and see if the other exists... Because I can't figure out how someone could use technology if that on exists

Clothing buttons - but metal ones were okay - those like the ones used in the "formal shirts" (button-up shirts? That's how it's called?) I hated. Fortunately no more. I grew out of it, I suppose.
