This talk of regional foods leads me to one of my main complaints about American stereotypes- namely, the one that "American food" is fast food and junk food. You know what American food is? Think of Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, corn, cranberries, pumpkin pie, apple pie, really any kind of pie- American.

Now I want turkey.

I'm assuming this isn't in response to my earlier post, since they're within the same minute? Unless you're some kind of ninja typer.

For clarification, I think the very idea of deep fried butter is disgusting, but I seriously saw some t the county fair last year.

What is everyone being for Halloween?

If you have a costume. I am being a WWII airman, flying a P-38 Lightning.

In pain.

I don't have a final verdict yet, but I think I passed

And I randomly thought of this, from Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog:

I cannot make up my mind whether this is more or less painful than the deep-fried Twinkie.

And now, for some reason, I'm thinking of a South African candy. My sister did a study abroad there and brought some back. They're called fizzers and they're like carbonated laffy taffys. They're good. And I have no idea why I'd think of it because I think I had it in fifth grade or so.

Congrats! I remember my black belt testing years ago, it was so stressful but was a great feeling when I passed.

All my life I've had two different kinds of dreams. There are first person dreams, in which I myself am wandering the dreamscape. Then there are the third person dreams, in which I watch the story unfurl like the expository narration at the beginning of a movie.

Last night I had the latter kind; I dreamed of a science fiction setting two thousand years in the future. In this future the entire solar system has been colonized; people live on every moon and planet, but the majority of the population lives on board massive orbital space stations. When they talk of the history from before the colonization period, they call it "The Mud Age," as it was the sad, pitiful time when the entire human race lived on wet Earth.

There was a new calendar system in use in the dream-verse, too. 1969 had been made the new Year 0, as it was the year in which the first human beings set foot on another planetary body. Under this calendar, the dream took place in the early 2000s, I was born in the year 27, and my parents were both born in the year 2.

I am totally going to harvest this dream for my main setting.

You know what would be really cool?

A Cosmere fighting game. Then we can finally have Vin fighting Szeth, because we all want to see Vin vs Szeth, dont we?

Now, I admit, I have not played a lot of fighting games in my life, but I imagine it as being either classical 2D, or 3D with a bit more mobility so Kaladin and Szeth can actually run on walls.

For characters...

Scadrial

Vin (Has Duralumin)
Kelsier
Elend (Stronger than Vin and Kell, but has less fancy attacks)
Zane
Spook (Spook wont have Atium like the other Mistborn, instead he will have Bendalloy for dodging attacks and Chromium to... I dont know, screw up their special meter or something)
Sazed (His super special whatever will be Harmony)
Marsh (Inquisitor form, of course)
Human the Koloss
Wax
(Really not sure how to fit Wayne in...)
... Bleeder?

Nalthis

Vivenna
Vasher
Susebron
Denth

Sel (Problem is that here is really not a lot of fighting in any of the stories on Sel)

Raoden
Galladon (Really not sure how those two would be different, but oh well)
Hrathen
Dilaf
Shaizen? Maybe?
Possibly the Bloodsealer?

Roshar

Kaladin
Shallan (What? Illusions are a great weapon)
Jasnah somehow being balanced so that she cant just transform everyone...
Dalinar the Blackthorn (As Shardbearer)
Dalinar the Bondsmith
Adolin
Renarin
Lift
Szeth son son Vallano with Nightblood

Stormform Eshonai

I think that could be very cool... I often think about scenarios similar to that (like who would win between Vin and Kaladin, etc.)  :)

I used to beat my younger brother at chess all the time. We fell out of the habit of playing for a year, and now suddenly he's Bobby Fischer.

We just played three games. I won one, in a close and hard-fought match, and he won the second two easily and without losing more than bishops and a few pawns.

Ugh. Maybe I'm just a lot worse at chess than I thought I was.
