TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) That is just horrible. Parents should be supportive and not act like slontzes. I feel sorry for you and your sister, stuck in that household. What makes it worse is that my other siblings, my brother and sister, recognize when our parents are being awful toward them, but once they start making fun of our youngest sister, the two if them just join in. It makes me sick. Can't they even see that it's the same exact thing, regardless of who happens to be the target? All this is only solidifying my desire to live far away. I just wish I could take my sister with me. I mean, I probably wouldn't be a terrific parent, but I at least wouldn't make fun of her for an innocent mistake. Edit: Yeah, she's a pastor. Not ordained, but she preaches sometimes. And she wonders why I'm not enthusiastic about going to church these days. Edited October 24, 2015 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 1
The Honor Spren she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I . . . Don't wish to offend you, Twi, but I'm comparing your mom to Umbridge right now. 4
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I . . . Don't wish to offend you, Twi, but I'm comparing your mom to Umbridge right now. I know this might sound bad, but I'm not offended. I actually think the comparison is kind of apt. And now I want to rebel. Not in any morally questionable way; I just want to do something to distance myself from them. Be different. Do something that my mom makes fun of and make it look good. I think I'll go grunge. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 My family watches Doctor Who on Amazon, which comes out with new episodes one day behind. This irks me. (As a side note, how is John Lumic not a meme already? I can't watch Rise of the Cybermen without bursting out laughing every time he opens he mouth. Probably not the effect Russel T. Davies was going for, but it's entertaining nonetheless. 1
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 What "rebelliousness" caused your mother's most recent outburst of poor parenting and illogic, Twi?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 What "rebelliousness" caused your mother's most recent outburst of poor parenting and illogic, Twi? My sister went to her first middle school dance tonight, and my other sister was conscripted into supervising. At one point, the younger sister said she was going to get a Coke. Long story short, my mom doesn't approve of foods with artificial colors in them, so Cokes are okay but Fantas are not. My younger sister didn't come back with a Coke but a Fanta. It's okay. You can scream in horror at her recklessness. I'll wait. If you're waiting for the rest of the story, there IS no rest. That's it. She got the wrong kind of soda and the rest of the family mocked her over text for it. She doesn't have a phone, so she didn't see any of those texts. 1
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 That is ridiculous. She got a Fanta( which is better anyway) and a texting conversation developed to mock her for it. Tunbridge is a really good comparison. Is it even possible for your mother to allow for the ideas of others or does that just float beyond her understanding. Your mother sounds like the type of person I'd flee from on sight. Speaking for the shard, I'm glad that you aren't like her. 1
Orlion Blight he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 But...Coke has artificial coloring! What the bloody hell! Can't she actually be consistent with her rules? I mean, Coke was brewed and made a dark color on purpose to hide floaty things that they could not filter! Now, it has caramel coloring which may increase your risk of getting cancer! So WHAT THE- *rest of post has been redacted due to colorful and creative use of swears, which is a shame, it would have blown your minds* 2

So WHAT THE- *rest of post has been redacted due to colorful and creative use of swears, which is a shame, it would have blown your minds* Her thinking is that caramel color is one of the few colors I can have without going all nervous and jittery, so it's not as bad as the others. (She's not a fan of high fructose corn syrup, either, but it's better than aspartame, so she'll tolerate a Coke or a Diet Coke over a Fanta.) In other news, ever since my sister said Bruce must be a kandra who didn't have all of the bones, so he just used Jello to fill in the gaps, I've been using that as his nickname. While I was at work, she called to Bruce with "Come here, kandra!" He obeyed. He answers to "kandra" now. 2
Orlion Blight he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 But Diet Coke has aspartame! Ahhhh! *pulls hair out*
Patar he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I clicked this thread full of random stuff out of curiosity. The thread certainly lives up to its name. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 But Diet Coke has aspartame! Ahhhh! *pulls hair out* Do not attempt to understand her ways. Do not add logic to her reasoning. Simply nod along as if you agree, and no one gets hurt. I clicked this thread full of random stuff out of curiosity. The thread certainly lives up to its name. Our work here is done.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 So, the colored sodas she likes are okay, but the ones she doesn't aren't? That's what it looks like. A kandra dog is awesome! It looks like you've got a real life Soonie pup(I know you don't quite know what that means yet, but you'll find out and it'll be awesome).

My brother had just seen the last part of The End of Time, and now couldn't even see The Eleventh Hour. For two weeks. We had to check it out from the library. 1
Zathoth Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Twis mom sounds like exactly the kind of person I would lose my mood at and have a long and possibly violent argument with... I used to do that to my teachers, but to be fair they were terrible people... And we are doing shock value rebellion? .w. Im in!
Kestrel she/her Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Its been raining for three days. The football game got delayed so long that the band left, so it isn't going to be rescheduled so I don't have to go. The marching contest today got cancelled. I'm home free. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 My cat Bliss is weird. He's covered in a thick layer of white fluff, and if it so much as drizzles he will act completely terrified until the weather goes back to normal. His ears never hold still--they're constantly rotating, swiveling towards all sources of noise in the room in turn. When he licks his chops, he opens his mouth as far as it will go and extends his abnormally long tongue, brushing it against his enormous gaping maw before clothing his mouth and lifting his head in invitation for us to pet him. I have come to a conclusion. Bliss is not actually a cat. He is a fluffy white alien from a cold desert planet, and after his ship crashed he's been hiding out with us until he can acquire the materials for an interstellar transmitter. That's the only possible explanation for the enigma that is Bliss. 5
