You have voted for me with the same faulty logic twice. You have said you wouldn't be too active this game because of RL business. I believe that but even when you have been active you haven't really posted anything that can really be analyzed to give make you seem suspicious or innocent in either way. We have some evidence that we may have a slightly inactive diagramist team and you would fit with that.

On that note BB is suspicious to me since he was inactive during the turn where no diagramist kill was attempted and then came back online in time for the kill last night.

Looks like Maill hasn't been on for a few days and by now I'm not likely to get a response. I'm still wary of feigned inactivity, but the logic for Clanky and Phatt's suspicions of Peng and BB respectively make sense; BB caught my eye before over Bort's death so that's where I'll put my vote.

Posted

I'm going to add my vote to BB, since he is suspicious. However, I find Peng and phatt to be more suspicious, and will gladdly switch my vote to one of them if someone else does.

Current Votes:

Bridge Boy(3): Phattemer, 12th, Joe

Peng(1): Clanky

Mail(1): araris

Phatt(1): Kipper

Clanky(1): Penguin

Mailliw(1): BB

Twould seem I am to be lynched. But I did think there was more people voting for Mailliw. Two more at least. Did they change their votes, and I just missed it? Well then, it's been a fun game. Good luck with the diagramists. I hope my sacrifice isn't in vain. Remember me when I'm gone... (Fades into distance.)

Okay guys, Ren did an amazing job of finally giving us a finale for Fel, so you guys should definitely go check it out and then give him props for it. Especially since he did it right after getting his MR game all together and ready to go!

We're also almost done with this turn's write up, so then we'll be all caught up to the events of today.

Night Eight: No Sympathy

[Write-up to be edited in.]

Akirsefatafesrika (Bridge Boy) has been lynched! He was a Diagramist Elsecaller Squire (Transformation)!

You have 24 hours to get your actions in, unless an extension is called.

Posted (edited)

Since BB fits the mold of someone who was inactive for the night with no attempted diagramist kill only to become active in time for a kill to be made the next cycle we are probably looking for a fully inactive player at this point. Dow was suspicious earlier when I discussed all inactives so he is my main suspicion.

EDIT: Colouring pseudo-vote

I think we might want to discuss right now. Assuming the Skybreaker/Releaser/their squires still have a charge, we could try to determine a target, kind of like a pseudo-lynch. I'd agree with Clanky, so I'll pseudo-vote for Dowanx. I hope the kill squad will see these pseudo-votes and count them, because then we can have a night lynch as well.

The WR squire who used Adhesion on Macen is at least semi active. In that vein my vote will go on Peng.

Dow was around for the first few cycles. He could have made a squire before going inactive.

I am not sure if I can give much input on who the night kill (if we do have one left) should be used on. However, I am of the opinion that kill actions are better used on inactive players since we don't lose any potential information that we could gain from lynch discussion.

Two things guys:

First, an extension has been called. As such, you have an extra 24 hours to get your actions in!

Second, the write ups for the last day are done! These were done by two people: Shallan did Findilti's write up (and I must say, it is quite good!), while I wrote something for Em's (which is subpar in comparison to the awesome work everyone else has done this game, IMO!).

That just leaves this turn's write up to get in and with the extension, hopefully we'll get it done before the end of the turn for once! :P

I am going camping for the weekend and won't have any internet from tomorrow afternoon till sunday night. Good luck with the rest of the game as it very well may be over by the time i'm back.

Those write-ups were epic. Just wow. Since we have time, let's make a list of who friendly kill roles should kill:

Mailliw- has been under suspicion for FOREVER, and now there is only one left(I assume)

Dow- fits the inactive role, also has 2 orange votes on him

Peng- was semi-active

Of these three, I would probably say for the Skybreaker/Dustbringer/Skysquire/Dustsquire to hit Mailliw. At this point in the game I think you really have to lynch people who have been suspected, or at least not ignore one person. (*hem hem QF9 hem hem*)

Posted

An interesting thing about Mailliw is that I don't think he commented in detail on my posts aganst him. (correct me anyone, if I am wrong about this) But Clanky did come to his defense fairly quickly. So if Mailliw is bad and the game isn't over he would be my next target for the lynch.

Posted

I just looked through all the posts I made this game and I actually haven't said anything about mailliw all game. Araris could you direct me to where I defended him?

Posted (edited)

Well, Right after I posted all of the connections I found between him and Ren/Hero, you came along and said that it was either coincidence or that Ren and Hero were trying to make Mailliw look like an eliminator by associating with him. I'll go back and see if I can find the exact posts.

Edit: I said this:

So this is directed to Mailliw, to add to what I posted earlier. This is based off of your connection to ideas presented by Hero/Ren, since the Eliminators are the only people that can coordinate out of the thread. And it may not amount to much, but you are the person that I saw the most connections with.

Starting in cycle one, you echoed Renegade's suspicion of Idolevy. You also posted suspicion of Feligon, which Hero then mentioned in his own post shortly afterwards.

You missed cycle two, then came back on day 3 and mentioned the PM powers, right after Hero had discussed the same thing. Then you voted for PK, who Hero had also voted for in his previous post. Renegade mentioned suspicion of PK, but didn't vote for his own reasons.

Your next post retracts your previous vote, but one of the people you list as suspicious is Leif, who is killed to save an eliminator from the lynch

Hero brought up Idolevy again, which is another connection. (Your first post this cycle was a vote for Idolevy as well)

Then a vote on Hero, while also voicing a suspicion of Macen. Macen is revealed to be a KR shortly after and Hero is an eliminator.

So I'm not saying that you necessarily agreed or disagreed with the eliminators we have discovered. But a lot of the posts you made before they were revealed had some sort of connection with Hero and Ren, and those bits stuck out to me for you more than for any other player.

Followed by Kipper saying:

Araris, you raise good points, but I must disagree. I feel that if Hero, Ren, and Mailliw were all Eliminators together, they would recognize the risk of being too connected in posts and votes. I'm inclined to think that the examples you point out are mere coincidences.

And You saying:

I agree with Macen that Araris's points are most likely coincidence but there could also be a chance of and Ren/Hero trying to make people suspicious of Maill by kind of agreeing with what he says. I think it is a very valid strategy for an eliminator to "buddy up" with a villager because if someone agrees with what you say you would be more likely to think they're innocent(at least it works on me). Also when they die the player the eliminator "buddied" with gets suspicion cast on them.

I think when you said Macen there you meant Kipper, since he is the only other person that responded to me. This seems suspicious to me, for a couple reasons. First of all, you didn't consider the possibility I was right, unlike Kipper, who at least said they were good points. (I am not trying to sound self important, just to say that I do think there is some validity behind what I said) Then you mentioned an alternative, but it doesn't seem to hold very much weight. The concept of buddying up is solid, but the problem here is that there were 3 people involved. Ren and Hero shared a connection, as we see now, but they couldn't force Mailliw to make posts that lined up with what they already said.

One example of this is Idolevy. Ren and/or Hero both pushed for him to be lynched for inactivity. Then, after they got taken out, Mailliw came and picked the same person to poke. This cannot possibly be a situation of intentional buddying up.

But I don't think this discussion is too important to have right now. If Mailliw dies and is found to be a Diagramist, then I will be fairly suspect of you. Until then, you are just a normal joe.

Ok I remember that now. I was saying that there were other options other than all 3 eliminators or random chance. I can't recall who but somebody else posted the random chance possibility. I forgot that exchange was about mailliw, sorry about that.

The Night's been over for a while now. Sorry about that. :P Write-up though should be up in an hour or so.

Aftermath: Shelter From the Storm

Jain paced his cage restlessly. Diagramists still remained, and he had more than enough stormlight to kill a few of the cremlings, but he couldn’t quite bring himself to leave his cage. The last time he had… He had no qualms about killing. Learning that Kazaaak had been innocent… Well, that changed things.

What if he was wrong again? His powers weren’t something to be treated lightly. They were a gift from the Almighty himself, and killing innocents seemed to be something that was pretty generally frowned upon, to say the least.

A quiet voice interrupted his musings as someone approached the cage, muttering to themselves. “...Take the chance to get rid of that storming bear… Been nothing but a burden this whole cursed trip.”

“You have no idea how right you are.”

Seixa stumbled back in shock, flaring with stormlight. “You can talk?

“Of course.”

“...Bears don’t generally do that.”

“I’ve noticed. It’s rather disappointing.”

Seixa shook his head, trying to reassert reality. Nothing changed. “...How?”

The panda shrugged. “The Nightwatcher has an… interesting sense of humour.” Jain sat back in the cage. “Now, if you will, please get back to the killing me part.”

Seixa blinked rapidly. “But… You can talk!

“I believe we already established this, yes. And I fail to see how that has any bearing on your actions.”

“The Law… Putting down a beast that is more trouble than it’s worth is one thing. Killing a thinking being that has committed no crime… That would be murder.”

Jain sighed. “I am not guiltless. I killed an innocent. Kazaaak. I committed blasphemy of the highest order, abusing powers granted by the one of the Almighty’s own servants to do so. Fulfill the law.”

“You regret what you’ve done. You seem like you’re willing to try to atone for it. You deserve a second chance.”

Jain smiled sadly, or at least came as close as a bear could.“There is no room for second chances in the law. To show mercy would go against your values.”

“This is wrong.”

“That is not your concern. Fulfill the law, Seixa.”

The man raised his hands slowly. “I am sorry.”

“Don’t be.” Light flashed, blindingly bright, and all that remained in the cage was a few tufts of hair.

Justin was tired. As he did his rounds patrolling the plateau, keeping up his farce, he tried his best to avoid thinking. There was nothing to be done, yet he couldn't help but feel he could have changed something. It was demoralizing, being forced to watch as your fellows were slowly killed off. On that much, he thought, anyone could agree.

Cloth snapped and rustled in the wind, somewhere nearby. Justin stopped and cocked his head. "Hello good Knight," he said, still looking out across the plateaus. "Have you come to kill me?"

"What gave me away?"

"There's no wind, tonight."

Torren, floating in the air behind Justin, considered this statement for a moment. Apparently deciding to take it at face value, he dropped to the ground, and raised his hands, gathering stormlight. "How observant of you. Do you have any defence to offer for your actions?"

"A defence?" Justin chuckled quietly, without any trace of humour. "Inevitability? Self-preservation? Altruism? Patriotism? Overzealous loyalty to a mad king? Hoping that the destination will make the journey worthwhile? Peer pressure? I don't think it really matters to you, whatever I say."

"Not exactly, no. Giving you the opportunity, however, does. Even in... extenuating circumstances, the Law must be obeyed, or at least as close to it as one can manage."

"Such a terribly restricted mindset," Justin said, shaking his head. "You must be great fun at parties, dragging those fetters around everywhere."

They stood in silence for a moment. Justin rolled his eyes. "Well? Get on with it."

"You aren't going to run? I planned to take great pleasure in running you down."

"Well, when you put it like that... No. I've been caught. The only thing behind me is a chasm, and it's not like you, or anyone, for that matter, is going to help me across."

"So this is it, then? I kill you, and this is over? The storm is over? You're all that's left, and you're not going to try to fight back? You sure know how to take the fun out of things, slave."

Justin smiled faintly. "Funny choice of words, that. The real storm has yet to begin, my friend. Our work will be completed, even if none of us are around to see it. We've delayed you long enough."

Torren's eyes narrowed. "I've had enough lies. Make your peace with the Almighty, if you can."

"I don't think I would need to, even if I could."

The glow from Torren's hands intensified. A searingly bright bolt of stormlight tore through Justin's body, with a clap of thunder, leaving nothing behind, but a silvery shardblade, warped and twisted.

Morning came. The remaining refugees gathered together on the plateau, taking stock. There had been a brief stir when the first of them had awoken, as a shardblade had been found, sticking clear from the rock in the centre of camp. The blade curved and twisted in a way that was unsettling in a way none of the refugees could put their finger on. A few recognised it, however.

Ableah had carried the very same Blade at the beginning of the expedition; the very same Blade that had been stolen with his death, and used to kill so many of the other refugees.

Something between awe and terror had filled the scattered remnants of the original group; and maybe something like hope too, as they looked upon that silvery sword. It might be a sign, some thought. A sign that their troubles were finally over, and they might be able to move on, to safety in Urithiru.

A few, however, guessed at the truth. Time was running out.

Night fell without any more deaths. While the refugees slept with a degree of peace for the first time in almost a week, some took it upon themselves to prod things forwards.

Madon encased the Shardblade in a quartz pillar, simultaneously creating a monument to their endeavour, and keeping the Blade out of the hands of any of the less trustworthy refugees.

Torren and Seixa carved a bridge from the stone of the plateau; dozens of times heavier than the original wood, but if the carriers were enhanced by stormlight, still useable.

Morning came again, and encouraged by the lack of attacks, the refugees set off again, taking the stone bridge as a hint.

They travelled for two days, driven onwards by a strange urgency they didn’t quite understand. The air seemed charged with tension, and what little wildlife that could be found on the plains was on edge.

Night was falling again, but as they began to set up camp, Sani pulled a few of the other refugees aside.

The scribe seem nervous, fidgeting and constantly stealing glances over her shoulder. “I don’t think we should stop. As the sun was setting, I think I saw something. A storm, in the west, getting closer. My almanac says that the Stormwardens predicted a Highstorm tonight, too.”

“A second storm?” Kip scoffed. “From the west? That’s ludicrous.”

“It might explain some of the damage we’ve seen on the plains. And if that’s what’s coming, I for one don’t want to get caught in it.”

Torren spoke up, thinking back to Justin’s taunts. “I agree with her. Theoretically, we’re not far now, and it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

Kipper looked about to argue, when a bolt of red lightning flickered across the western horizon, bright enough to draw everyone’s attention. “...Yup. Never mind. Let’s go.”

Leaving tents where they were, the remaining refugees moved across the plains again, as fast as they could manage. The dull roar of a highstorm, oddly echoed, soon became apparent, as lightning flickered constantly.

Another light, steady and separate from the storms, appeared in the distance. The stormwalls grew closer.

The light resolved into a doorway, seemingly leading down into the plateau. Chunks of rock and ice began to crash down among the refugees.

A figure resolved itself, silhouetted against the light. A woman with flaming red hair, holding a shardblade and offering shelter from the storm.

Jain has died! He was a Refugee Dustbringer!

Justin has died! He was a Diagramist Windrunner Squire (Adhesion)!

Good game, everyone! The Refugees have won!

Many thanks again to everyone who helped out with the game, Meta, Hero, Ren, Macen, Shallan, and the whole crew in the dead doc.

Thanks for playing everybody, hopefully you all had as much fun playing as we did running it.

Was any survivor besides myself and Twei a Radiant? If not, then I think the Skybreakers stopped the cycle of desolations.

Oh wait... Dow was a Bondsmith?!? What. And Mailliw was a Squire with Transformation. Well, we came pretty close. Those write-ups were awesome, and I'd like to thank everyone in the dead doc who contributed, particularly Hero, who did almost all of the early ones, and Meta, who helped with actions, votes, and write-ups. With regards to what-would-have-happened, I think that if Macen hadn't hit THE 2 most experienced diagrammists with his first 2 charges, it would have been a very different game. I imagine a Wyrm in QF9 type, where 2 or 3 people take over discussion and all are eliminators.

Great game guys, very enjoyable. It was definitely a new experience for me to step up and help lead the discussion. Most of the time I end up sitting in the background with the semi-active people, and it was interesting to actually get somebody lynched. . . and to have a suspicion that turned out to be right for once, even if Kipper drew my attention to the issue.

I think I've got to agree with Phatt here. The game would definitely have been real different if Macen hadn't found us two diagrammists during the early game. Macen is definitely our MVP for this game.
