Yet there's so many of us!

...maybe we're a really big cult? We should start saving up for a compound. :P

There would have to be sub-cults. Cult of the Stick, Cult of the Spikes, Cult of the Oregon RPG...

When your friend is asking you about fandoms and you say "Well, there's also Sanderson, but that's more of a cult than anything."

I can imagine a troupe of Sharders going door-to-door with copies of Sanderson books and leaflets on which guild to join.

I am High Cult-Leader of the people who do this instead of their homework.

can I be the next highest in this faction? The Lady Procrastinator?

I'm thoroughly enjoying WoK (as you can probably tell by the memes) but the Reckoners series is still my favorite work of Brandon's. Stormlight immerses us in a unique world with a rich and detailed set of cultural traditions, but Reckoners explores the horrifying implications of some staples of the superhero genre. It has realistic characters, strange powers, sadistic villains, fantastic settings, an overarching mystery every bit as unique as the conceit itself--as a lifelong superhero fan, these are things I never knew I wanted from the same series, but now that I have them, I can't get enough.

I don't begrudge Stormlight fans their books. I'm glad you're getting another, and I'm pretty pumped for it too. But don't marginalize the importance of the last Reckoners book. It means just as much to us Reckoners fans as a new Stormlight book means to you. :)

Sorry, but you'll be waiting for a while for that. He's got SA3 (Christmas-ish 2016), then the AoL era book(Spring/Fall 2017), then Rithmatist 2 (Spring/Fall 2017), then SA4(2018ish). That's his likely layout for the next few years, plus a novella or two, (and White Sand). THEN we'll see Nightblood, or Elantris 2, or one of his other projects.

So yeah. 2019ish. Don't worry, I'm in the same boat with Elantris 2.

Reckoners spoilers:

I thought Steelheart was pretty predictable, so I wasn't a huge fan of the series, but when I read Firefight... Oh, boy. Those last few chapters, where David flies around with the spyril killing or incapacitating Regalia's entire power structure were so awesome that I can't help but be excited for Calamity.

And Stormlight spoilers (sorry Twylight)

Still, I am much more interested in Stormlight 3. The number one reason? We'll get to see pragmatic Kaladin again. Kaladin honestly didn't have a very important role in Stormlight 2, which is the reason why he was sort of lame in it. It looks like he's going to be taking an active role now, though, striking out for himself again.

Also, I'm very interested in seeing the aftermath of that... thing that happened at the end of Stormlight 2 with the Parshendi, since it really didn't elaborate much at the end of the book.

Could you just spoiler out your WoR paragraph? I appreciate your dancing around them, but even mentioning what you do could be considered spoilerific. Thanks in advance!

On a side note, Blaze it might help if you also spoiler it in your quote. I once avoided a spoiler tag just to then suffer the content by the guy who quoted it to point out that the first guy should spoiler it.

Hah, that's a good point! I didn't think of that. I forgot our quotes don't update when the post quoted does. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: Fixed. Thanks again!

I just think they're too different to compare. I'm more excited for Stormlight 3, but mostly because I burn through the Reckoners books way to quickly. The Stormlight books have some weight:wub:

Though, to be completely honest, I finished WoR in two days. But it was two awesome days of not paying attention to anything. If Calamity had appeared in the sky and utter chaos reigned I doubt I'd actually have noticed anything.

Brandon Sanderson doesn't post very often because modern computing is not sufficient to store the number of upvotes he'd acquire on a daily basis.

EDIT: I meant to post this on the Brandon Facts thread. But, uh, thanks for the upvote? :P

Good to know I'm not the only one with thread confusion.

It's okay, we've all been there with at least one of Brandon's characters, be it Gangnah, Llarimar, Fhorkood, Graeo, or Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor.
