Sunbird she/her Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I've had a lot on my plate recently, so this is a bit late. But... I GRADUATED!!! (My, that robe isn't very flattering, is it? Oh well. ) You may not like it very much, but at least it's traditional black. I graduated high school in a cornflower-blue robe and cap. Woop woop congrats!!! Where are you? Those mountains are really pretty. Slowswift and I both live in central/northern Utah, USA. (I know this because we both attend BYU Cosmere Club on a regular basis.) Chances are those are the Wasatch Mountains in the background. (A subsection of the Rocky Mountains, if I understand the mountains around here correctly... I've only been living here since 2013.) 1
+Slowswift Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) Woop woop congrats!!! Where are you? Those mountains are really pretty. Thanks! I'm behind my grandparents' house, in Provo. So yes, those would be the Wasatch mountains (I don't think that's Timp, but it's close by). You may not like it very much, but at least it's traditional black. I graduated high school in a cornflower-blue robe and cap. The folks from another school whose ceremony was before ours were wearing purple and white. Not bad, but I was glad to get traditional black. Edited June 1, 2016 by Slowswift
Sunbird she/her Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 The folks from another school whose ceremony was before ours were wearing purple and white. Not bad, but I was glad to get traditional black. I love deep purple, so I would've been happy to graduate in that color. White, on the other hand... I'd be terrified of spilling something on it. This is assuming that men wore one color and women wore the other, as it was done at my high school. Or was everyone wearing the same kind of robe that was both purple and white?
Delightful Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 No. Don't. Don't make girls wear white. That's just an embarrassing disaster waiting to happen. Purple is good.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 No. Don't. Don't make girls wear white. That's just an embarrassing disaster waiting to happen. Purple is good. Another school in that district(I went to the same school Slowswift is at) does that too. Girls get white and guys get the other color. At ours, the girls get red and guys get black.
Zathoth Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I finally got a beginning that works for the story Ive been planning for way too long. 3
Jondesu he/him Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 (edited) For the first time in months, I recorded my initial concepts for a couple nine new songs (using Apple's really cool Music Memos app). I also put out feelers for someone to collaborate with me on my music, which my brother has done, but he's really busy right now. jW Edited June 3, 2016 by Jondesu

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 My new phone has been shipped! Which is good, because my current phone is at the point where I'm not sure how much longer it'll last. After I ordered my new one, I turned my ringer on to wait for a call from the company….and it never rang. I sat next to it in a relatively quiet room the whole time, and I never heard it ring. But, I should have a new one soon. Then hello, complete independence from the parental units. In other news, Bruce's ear medicine seems to be working. But believe me, you do not know hardship until you've tried to corner a stubborn pug and pour medicine down its ear. 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 What's the new phone? What's the old one? The old one is an iPhone 5S, the new one is an iPhone SE. I confess I'm not really one to care much about models; I just like iPhones and went with the one on sale.

I confess I'm not really one to care much about models; I just like iPhones and went with the one on sale. Never, ever, ever, EVER let me touch your phone. I have an anti-Apple bioelectric field. I don't even have to push a button before the device starts doing something weird and errory that the owner swears it's never done before.

My interest is more in 'Is there cool stuff I can do with an old phone if I don't have to worry about breaking it?' My sister recently upgraded her phone, and so I nabbed her old one (an old Galaxy S2 which was dying on her). I've had fun messing around custom firmware on it, given it doesn't matter if I accidentally brick the phone. Not really into iPhones, so don't know if there's cool things to be done to an old iPhone. Although, you could probably sell it? Apple stuff usually keeps its value, right?

T-Mobile said I could sell it back to them for credit on my next bill. I probably won't get much, what with the center button not working and the ringer malfunctioning.

Selling something on eBay, or some such thing, is likely to get you more than what a carrier would give you, as a general rule (I think), even if you put it up as 'for parts'. The ringer malfunctioning has a fair chance of being software related (something that a reset, update, or custom firmware could fix), and the broken button could potentially be replaced (not so sure, like I said, I don't know lots about iPhones). At least, that's what I'd imagine without having seen the device. But it means someone might buy it if they thought they could fix the problems. EDIT: Though I realize that things could work differently in the US. I forget how phone plans work for you guys - I was under the impression it worked differently to here, where you pay the full price of the phone off over 24 months, on top of the cost of your phone credit. It depends on the carrier, really. Some will give you free or discounted phones in return for signing up for a 2 or 3 year contract. Others (like T-Mobile) will do it the way yours does.
Briar King Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 If you like storms look at the radar for Lake Charles, LA. It is coming down like mad with Thunder cracking right over the top of my house.
Jondesu he/him Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Replacing the home button on that phone wouldn't be too tough for someone experienced. I've done screen replacements on the 5S models, they're a bit of a pain but totally doable. Listing it as needing that fixed would probably get you someone who felt they could do it and who would still pay a fair amount for the phone, probably more than T-Mobile will give you (I've done a trade-in with them too, though in my case I got an old Blackberry from a family member who wasn't using it in order to get the credit). jW
