The thing, though, is that obviously the amount of power that you compound can't exceed Preservation's power..

Which brings us back to the start of this conversation :D

And burning mist as a feruchemical charge is probably a bit more complicated than just wanting to do it. After all I believe burning a spike also has completely different effects . . .

Personally, I believe that it would Compound the Spike's power.

Meanwhile, I believe that Spiking someone with a Metalmind would deliver whatever is stored in the Metalmind to the Spike recipient, but with serious Decay (equivlant to the power gained by Compounding).

EDIT - Say, I should move that to a separate post!

Not all compounding:

Aluminum

Copper

Iron

Bendalloy

Cadmium

Compounds Aluminum: Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!

Compounds Copper: I remember everything so vividly! It's amazing! It's so... and, it's gone.

Compounds Iron: "Hey, Timmy! You see that huge crater over there? That used to be Elendel! That's when your Uncle, the Iron Compounder, commit suicide!"

Compounds Bendalloy: I can't see my feet! Where are my feet?! Ugh, storing this up again is going to take forever.

Compounds Cadmium: I'm Aquaman! OR "Mommy? Can I be a fish when I grow up?" "Sure you can, sweetheart!"

So why would chromium be the only F metal to be able to directly effect others rather then just one's self? Wouldn't every result be more like you being the butterfly in the Standard example of chaos theory as opposed to you being an outside force? So it would functionally be you unconsiosly being omnipotent with perfect knowledge of the future, so you cause exactly what you want to happen, but only because you indirectly unknowingly made it happen right?

Remember, when compounding, restoring things isn't a problem anymore.

Aluminium Compounding is not the most powerful admittedly.

Copper Compounding gives you more memories than you actually had, I'm guessing this means details you didn't personally observe, information you had no way of actually getting.

Iron Compounding can be used for infinite power (as a more efficient version of the old "Ironminds on a turbine" idea)

Bendalloy Compounding (and then immediately storing) means you never need to eat or drink again ever.

Cadmium Compounding can be used to indefinitely explore underwater, in areas that contain toxic gasses, or theoretically, space (with a pressure suit).
(I had a Cadmium MAG character who was a chemist specialising in toxic gas)

Is here a WoB on what you said about copper? I didn’t know that.

I don’t understand what you mean in your iron description.

Everything else we pretty much agreed on.

Not with copper, but how else could it work, you get more "memory" then you put in

Wait, have I not put Iron Turbine on here? I might have only discussed it IRL,

So imagine a ferris wheel connected to a turbine, and in each wheelcar sits an iron ferring. As they go up, they store mass, as they go down, they tap mass. Fasts ensue.

I like the idea with iron!

I disagree with how you think copper works. Feruchemy is internal- you can’t compound and get information from external sources. I do think you’re right about being able to store it back up though. The way I wrote it was mostly for comedic effect.

By definition, compounding gives more than you put in. You compound to get extra something from an external source. Whether these extra memories are useful or relevant is a different question.

But it can’t give you something external, other than Preservations power. When you compound steel you don’t gain access to other people’s speed. I think the memories just grow more vivid or something.

That wouldn't be very good for the ferrings?

They can take shifts, and also are uniquely suited to not dying if flung off a turbine. :P

Well maybe Bendalloy Compounders can just produce medallions for the world. I think that makes it more powerful than just never having to eat again.

Chromium Compounding would imo be best used when trying to escape people. Hide in the jungle, they’ll never find you. Hide in a sand desert, the wind will pick up. Hide in a city, doors will open. Etc etc

To be honest, we know practically nothing about Fortune Feruchemy except the name.

However, assuming it is aimable (i.e. you choose what you want to be lucked) you have:

Being a scientist and having a ridiculous amount of accidents that lead to new inventions.

Painting, blindfolded, a picture of anything. Future, past, you name it.

In a similar vein, scribbling (or rolling alphabet dice) to read anything, including other people's brains

You know how in some books they have stones they can use to predict the future? Those.

Basically, predicting the future in general through whatever random means you feel like.

Taking a walk blindfolded to get where you want to go.

Submit a scholarship application and get it accepted.

Have all of your atoms simultaneously decide to jump two feet to the left, one foot up, etc. out of the path of whatever.

Compound Chromium this is Step 1 to becoming Hoid...

Ironically your fortune leads to the unfortunate situation where you have zero control over your own existence and you always end up in the right place at the right time no matter what you had planned for step 2.
