Kobold King he/him Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) Effectively, yes. Sounds like a good idea. Huh, someone made that connection. He was actually so powerful that he got paired up with Mewtwo in Pokemon Conquest. (Takeda Shingen got Groudon) Haven´t completely decided on that. It´s either some (relatively light) samurai armor or a more light ronin typ outfit. I've always had an interest in feudal era Japan. Oda Nobunaga would probably make a better Epic. The man was a military genius with a ruthless streak a mile wide; he once massacred the entire population of an enemy castle, down to the serving staff and their families. He mounted the heads of men, women, and children on pikes around the castle walls as a warning to his enemies. Essentially a real life Epic. I don't know. I'd have to check my laptop, but if so, I'll give it to you. Awesome. Behold the pony form of what I call Kenshin. Me likey! Very bushido. Edited December 16, 2014 by Kobold King 1

That one´s to easy, have you seen some of the demoization goining on with this guy in fiction? In some he´s lterally the devil. Interestingly enough, looking away from his ruthlessness he had some interesting politics, weakening the monopoly of guilds, promoting talents in lower casts that wouldn´t have a chance wihtout said promotion and being very open to innovation and foreign influenced, including chrisitanity. Granted those also had a practical purpose but Japan would be a very different place, if he managed to conquer it... so I guess he´s still better than Steelheart. (Addmidetly chosing the one daimyo that was supposedly the ideal noble samurai might not have been the best choice for an Epic. ) Glad you like it. Ya know, I started to think about the rumors that the real world Kensin might have been a woman and wondered if I should play with that. 2

Ya know, I started to think about the rumors that the real world Kensin might have been a woman and wondered if I should play with that. Fair enough. Nobunaga's one of the more popular daimyos in fiction entirely because of his infamy. Have you ever read The Boy and the Samurai? It's a piece of historical fiction set in the Sengoku period, ostensibly for small children. I read it as a small child but have immensely enjoyed every re-read since. That could be interesting--though I imagine the number of female Epics posing as men would be very slim. Only the most devoted of misogynists would say anything nasty about an indestructible death-woman who can and will annihilate you on a whim. 1

Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Yes, but torturing someone to death to try and "get control of his powers"? That earns him a spot on the "And Then They Died" list. And that's not even the main reason. That was just a bonus to his stress reliever. He's kinda nasty. What he did was use his electricity to burn patterns into the man's skin before severing some limbs. He sees it as some kind of art form. It's pretty messed up, if you ask me. Did anyone notice the Black Fist in that segment?

Newan he/him Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 And the new Ranger/Arvin/Will O'the Wisp post is up! Thank goodness! After nearly two weeks without any new posts in the Dalles, I was worried that I killed it.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 Thank goodness! After nearly two weeks without any new posts in the Dalles, I was worried that I killed it. It'll take more than a few Epics with memory problems to kill a thread. Funtimes carpet bombed Nighthound with actual carpet, and the Portland thread survived.

Very much so. If you notice, the man had painted the back of his hand black. It's a new thing that popped up by itself. Max sowed the seeds of the rebellion and now, his contacts and the ones who joined his first have begun painting the backs of their right hands black, so that when they make a fist, it's a black fist. I'm leading up to a cool scene at some point where this is going to be a powerful thing. 2

That is pretty cool, but wouldn't it just make members easier targets for Epics like Electro? A good point. It might not be uncommon for Epics to decorate their subjects in such a fashion, though, so perhaps Electro and co. just assume they're the servants of one of the nearby lesser Epics?

It might not be uncommon for Epics to decorate their subjects in such a fashion, though, so perhaps Electro and co. just assume they're the servants of one of the nearby lesser Epics? Maybe, but if CM remains an aggressive recruiter, wouldn't he demand to meet their master, forcing them to either concede there is no Epic and surrender or concede and fight back? If that's what you were working toward, Mailliw, just ignore me, but it seems like if they're forced into conflict with CM, they may or may not be prepared and then the rebellion might die for lack of members. Don't get me wrong, I really, really want to see what you have planned for the black fists symbols, but I also don't want to see the entire rebellion fizzle out because their symbol was their undoing. 1
Voidus Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I now have 10 pages of Epics in the ideas thread and still many more in my offline doc... I think I may be overdoing it a tad. 3
Mailliw73 he/him Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 That's flipping awesome. Thanks! That is pretty cool, but wouldn't it just make members easier targets for Epics like Electro? Well, not many people even have heard of Black Fist and very few are actually painting their hands, but you have a good point. I just don't think Corpsemaker would bother with it. I need Joe's opinion, but if he were to see a few people with black fists, I don't think he'd think much of it. It will gather momentum and become a larger thing, at which point there will be a confrontation, which is the scene I'm planning, but I don't think it'll be a big issue yet. Max doesn't even know about this yet. He (or some of the Reckoners) might try to discourage it if they think it will lead to something bad, but Max for one, will be proud that his idea is being carried so far. Does that sound reasonable? I don't want to God-mod this just for a cool scene. If it you don't think it'll work, I can try something else. (Maybe black gloves?) 1

The black gloves would solve a lot of the problems associated with paint (time-consuming to apply, maybe hard to wash off, in that case more or less permanent and a dead giveaway at all times). Wait and see what Joe says, but I think the gloves would be a more realistic way for it to work. (That way members can take them off and slip them on when they need to. And I want this to work. I really want this to work. ) Edited December 17, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 1
Kobold King he/him Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I now have 10 pages of Epics in the ideas thread and still many more in my offline doc... I think I may be overdoing it a tad. You can never have enough Epics. MD is probably one of my favorite ideas on the doc, with his ability to diagnose any form of problem. Backscratch, I'm sorry to say, would predominantly be used in Backtrack ships. (Which would be rather amusing, actually--if Sam were mistaken for a member of Black Fist while wandering about town. )
Voidus Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Agreed, the gloves would probably be best. You can never have enough Epics. MD is probably one of my favorite ideas on the doc, with his ability to diagnose any form of problem. Backscratch, I'm sorry to say, would predominantly be used in Backtrack ships. Thanks Unfortunately MD would also be the hardest one to RP as other than precogs, since they need god-modding to a degree to RP accurately.Metronome is probably the most useless at present and as such will definitely make an appearance with an over-inflated ego."So you can shoot lasers out of your eyes, fly and crush building by gesturing at them. Ooooh I'm so scared, prepare to witness my awesome power!"..."It is now 11:24" 3

"It is now 11:24" "I diagnose the principal problem of this RP as being the admission of heavily overpowered characters, such as myself." "And me! My ability to instantly divine the time of day is completely gamebreaking!" "Um, no. Sorry Metronome, but I already diagnosed you with a delusional sense of self-worth. Don't blame yourself, blame Voidus. He's the one with the compulsive urge to create hordes of Epics." 3
