Is the mother witch a villain who's inadvertently setting her daughter up for a heartwarming life lesson about choosing morality over family pressure, or is the show taking it upon itself to redefine the word "wicked" to mean "cackling over a cauldron"?

More the second. Although the definition of "wicked" here seems to equate more with "chaotic," since this witch's idea of a wicked hex is one that makes rocks rise out of the river and create a formation trapping a kayaker in a pool, or making an island rise to the point those on it can't escape.

I know a certain draconequus who wouldn't react well to hearing about how chaos and wickedness are being conflated in the show. We better not let him hear about it...

A mother witch on Sofia the First just explained to her daughter that being wicked is a family tradition.

 Methinks the writers on this show have a fundamental misunderstanding about how good and evil actually work.

I don't think Disney gets this at all, such as here.

And a good Klansman never judges a man by his appearance!

...seriously, did the author of that book know what a pirate is, or was he extrapolating from what he saw on the back of a Cap'n Crunch box?

A good bridgeman never forgets his shield?

A good Epic never kills random bystanders just 'cause?

A good Hallandren Returned never takes other peoples' Breath?

A good Mistborn never eats metal?

A good Steel Inquisitor never rams bits of metal into other peoples' eyes?

I normally do that over the summer, but normally during the school year it isn't worth it. My body gets on a really tight sleeping schedule to the point where I'll wake up at 6:30 in the morning regardless of when I fall asleep.

Nah, you don't have to choose. Sit on the sofa and they'll flank you—one on your left and one on your right—you being a guest and all. :D

I want to know how I have never heard of Dr. Horribles' sing along blog before, it has been out for over 6 years! I just watched it and it was awesome, although kind of sad at the end. It is probably the only musical I will ever like.

I couldn't decide which was a bigger surprise:

The tragic ending, or the fact that Bad Horse is actually a horse. Please tell me I wasn't the only one who thought that was a metaphor.

A poll/petition has been going around the internet, lobbying Congress to take Andrew Jackson off the $20 Bill and replace him with a woman. (Andrew Jackson, for those outside the US, was the president who defied the Supreme Court to take Cherokee land, exiling them all to Oklahoma and dooming thousands to die along what eventually became known as the Trail of Tears. According to our family history, my great-(great?) grandfather was one of them, hidden by a white family along the way and adopting their surname. So in my opinion, it's about time Jackson lost his place on American currency.)

The winner of the poll? Harriet Tubman. This pleases me. :D

(Edit: mixed up my US government branches.)

I usually don't speak ill of the dead.

I usually don't approve of government actions.

But in this case, I'll defy both of those conventions.  I'm glad to be getting that genocidal maniac off of our money. <_<

I agree. I'll be more than happy to see someone else's face when I get a surprise gift in a birthday card. <_<:P

And Harriet Tubman! Not only was she incredible, but can there be a more poetic replacement for Jackson? :D

A small mob with plans to tar and feather me may show up at my house later for admitting this but . . . I don't really like Nutella. In fact I kind of can't stand it. Now, whoever currently holds Szeth's Oathstone, I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know if I should go hide in my underground nuclear bunker or not. Thank you. That is all. Have a wonderful evening.
