I did ask  but I also put in my action to protect hoid before he mentioned it, so I don't think it makes much of a difference

I find just the chance that someone is protected is often enough to dissuade elims from risking the NK on you. So (if you have reasonable grounds of course, not just a random villager, but if you're like cleared like I was) then just publicly stating it is often enough. Even if no one does protect you, the elims don't know that.

I do remember an incident related to this I feel somewhat guilty about

In Twin's Lords of Luthadel word-count game, I knew the elims would come after me cause I was the most prominent villager. So I PMed someone who I highly suspected was elim (I think it was Akimiko) and threatened to use an ability on her if she didn't protect me. In the end, she was elim, she did protect me, and I used the ability anyways cause I couldn't wait to find out the result of what she'd done to make my move

Buuuuut village still lost somehow despite knowing the full elim team through a generational fumble

I think I skipped that game, I don’t remember why though, I was free to play it, I wasn’t busy or anything. But idk, it was right after the Andor game, I think I might’ve missed the sign-ups?

All I know is later wishing I’d signed up

Jo, do flips reveal someone's Loyalty number? 

Does the Banker's target gain the ability to use their role action twice in a cycle? 

How are the Banker's owed Depo votes chosen? Is it based on recency? Do they get to pick two of three if relevant, or it is chosen randomly? 

Actions are based on your Loyalty at the start of the round, right? But Depo is based on your Loyalty after actions have resolved.

Yes. (in the rules, if the words "specific Loyalty" is used, that means the actual numerical value, instead of simply Positive, Negative, or Neutral)

Theoretically, yes. Notably, only Bankers, Royals, and some highguards can actually take advantage of that, since most roles can only be used during either Night or Day, and you can't take two actions in a single TURN.

Recency. If they've already collected two Depo motion votes, and they gain a third player's vote, the first's debt will simply be annulled. Not very realistic, or capitalistic, but it makes for easier record keeping and strategizing. Good question!

Yes. What action you perform is based on how much Loyalty you started the round with, but the Deposition (And things like the Secretary) will only look at Loyalty after actions have resolved.

I'm new to SE (never played before) but I am interested ( @Through the Living Hopper told me to check SE out). This game seems fairly complicated but there doesn't seem to be another open for sign-ups at the moment... should I join?

I Would say yes. Pretty much all of the games recently have been complicated mechanically, and so waiting for an easier game might be a while.

And if/when you get confused, ask questions(either in your GM PM, Elim/Highguard doc or the thread), the majority of us won’t lie to you on purpose.

That said, if you want a gentler approach, I’d suggest spectating.

I'll sign up as Rbiren, a Natan merchant who owns several hair salons across Thaylen City - he has invented several popular products for eyebrow care.
He's on the council because
1. The Navy people like him since he provides their eyebrow starch for cheaper than anyone else.
2. He's stinkin' rich.

Rbiren ran his fingers through his short, curly hair as he gazed intently into the mirror. His frown of concentration slowly softened into a grin of satisfaction, and the employees behind him couldn't hide their smiles. It had taken them a long time to reach this point. Cracking the right gold hair dye had taken far longer than he'd anticipated, but it was worth the wait, he saw now. He twisted his hair from side to side, admiring the way his normally white hair now metallically reflected the light. This was going to make him so much money!

Abaray the Mavset-im watched as the Thaylen City Council gathered. All of them were skilled at their craft, cunning in their dealings, and loyal to Thaylenah. But some of them could be convinced that Loyalty to Odium was Loyalty to Thaylenah. He needed to pick out a few of them to convince. They could blackmail, bribe, or convince the rest to accept Odium’s Treaty. It was almost time.

 

Abaray found themself watching four councilors in particular these past hours. Shemyn the Accursed, Tshanin, and Fickle, along with that cursed spren that followed him around. Those four, they were interesting. Two of them seemed to have boons of a sort from the Nightwatcher, or some other powerful cognitive shadow. He didn’t think his lord Odium had granted them power, but he couldn’t sense any of Honor or Cultivation’s stink on them. Midus maybe.

 

No matter. The Councilors would be meeting soon, and he needed to start making his offers. With a slight expenditure of Voidlight, he took on the face of Teejay, a councilor who was far too loyal to ever be corrupted, and so was instead murdered by a Makay-im. Abaray smiled, exactly as he had seen Councilor Teejay do before, and strode off to speak with every councilor. Perhaps he would start with Rbiren, who had only just arrived. . .

 

The game has 24 hours before it starts! Sign-ups are still open as long as the thread is! There are now 3 boons on the table, though the third is simply a runner-up boon, and will not be as neat.
