Sythrin Posted June 21, 2025 Posted June 21, 2025 At the end of book 4 nightblood clashwd with Ishins blade. And it chipped. Did Nightblood consume it or was flown away. Is there somewhere in the mountains a piece of honors godmetal lying around? A chunk in the perfect size for burning? 1

It seems that it would auto-repair if given Investiture, similar to Shardplate. Spoiler https://wob.coppermind.net/events/479-dragonsteel-mini-con-2021/#e15248 Questioner In Rhythm of War, Nightblood broke off a piece of an Honorblade. Could you technically pulverize an Honorblade to the point it wouldn't exist? If so, what would happen? Brandon Sanderson You could pulverize an Honorblade to the point that it wouldn't exist. You would basically need to repair it with Investiture, and if you didn't, it would happen, the same thing that happened to Shardplate. You would be making... basically it's changing form. Either you would end up with a bunch of dust made of a God Metal, which you could do stuff with, or you add Investiture and reconstitute it, or you get it to change back into its other states. Those are all possibilities. Most likely Ishar would have done this and reconstituted the chip into the Blade. 3
0 Nitpicking Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 I plan to ask Brandon about that chip next chance I get. (We're both planning to be at Worldcon this year.) My crackpot theory: Hoid grabbed it somehow, and he's a Mistborn. He planned to burn it and gain an even stronger link to Honor.

As a heads up, a very similar question has been RAFOd already, so prepare for such a rebuttal. Spoiler https://wob.coppermind.net/events/475-fanx-2021/#e15054 Questioner My RAFO question will probably be, will an Allomancer or a Mistborn take that chip of Honorblade that fell off and burn it? Brandon Sanderson *hands RAFO card* 2
0 clowncarcrash Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 Oh thats a cool observation! I figured it was a throwaway description to make the clash seem more awesome.

Perfect godmetals can be burned by anyone. Not only Mistborn.

Lerasium is burnable by anybody, because it has a side effect of making the person a Mistborn. Please see discussions - Certain Godmetal (and many other threads easily searched)

I take it you did not read the linked thread? There is a lot more nuance than that, with little clarification. Edited June 26, 2025 by Treamayne 1

0 Nitpicking Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 My own reasoning was that even if anyone could burn Tanavastium, a Mistborn would think of doing it. 1
0 JustQuestin2004 he/him Posted June 28, 2025 Posted June 28, 2025 There is a WOB that states that a Mistborn/Anyone in general cannot Burn a Godmetal if it has it's own Identity, so you can't burn a piece of a Shardblade because Spren are people, and likely not an Honorblade either because they're self-aware. Only Godmetals that don't think, like Lerasium and Atium, are Burnable. 1
