I broke my foot a few years ago and my mom didn't want to take me to the doctor so she wrapped it in a sock and duct tape

If you think you've likely broken something you should always get an x-ray at least, it could be broken bad enough that it might not heal properly or at all on its own. That's so dumb

Yeah regardless of if you choose to take treatement, a doctor's main job (from my non-med school viewpoint) is diagnosing and offering options. If you don't know what is wrong then you can't fix things.

I will say, in case you dont know, doctors have to check... everywhere in check-ups. I think you can ask them not to check in certain places, but it could be good for your health.
