What's the difference between a pinch hitter and a player? I can probably join for on-and-off stuff but work and school will take up a lot of time so I don't know how active I'd be.

A Pinch-hitter will come in halfway though if a player goes inactive. So if you can't be active right away, but will later on, generally you become a Pinch-hitter.

You could also choose to be a spectator, which means I'll send you a link to the spec doc which will have the full ruleset revealed.

In that case, I might be a spectator just to see what the game is like before it rotates back to the Cosmere and I might want to join in!

Long Game 105 Night One: Evaluation

We had only just arrived at Base Camp and already conversation had turned to evaluating our mental states. The moment we had finished setting up, the Psychologist insisted on taking everyone in for private evaluations. Nobody spoke while we waited our turns, but I know everyone was thinking the same thing. Who evaluates the Psychologist?

They were frighteningly silent once finished. No amount of prodding could convince them to divulge their findings.

It was the beginning of the first night, and already our trust was failing.

~

Welcome to LG105 Night One! (Remember that it's not actually a night because they're swapped for flavor) All role PMs should be out, but PM me privately if you haven't received yours.

Things to Note:

  • You may vote today, but all actions will take place next turn.
  • Votes must be placed in Bolded Red
  • Remember that all italics are purely flavor!
  • And even the non italicized mechanical text can be misleading without full context.
  • This turn will end at 12:30 in two days, on Saturday the 26th of April.

Players:

Spoiler
  1. @|TJ| Linguist
  2. @KelsierApologist Psychologist
  3. @The Wandering Wizard Surveyor
  4. @Ashbringer Medic
  5. @Quivil Biologist Team Leader
  6. @Hoid Slayer Anthropologist
  7. @RoyalBeeMage Archeologist

Adam liked the dark. There was something soothing about the blindness, the nothing. He pondered that as he sat on the roof of the squat building, legs swinging over the abyss. In the dark.

It was odd that he should love the void so, after it had taken his sister. He still remembered the memory of her death, still felt her heavy form in his arms as she let out her final breath. In the dark.

The memory was not one of sadness. Nor was it one of grief, pain, or fear. When he thought back on it, he felt only peace. Perfection. In the dark.

Adam wasn’t worried to see the psychologist. He knew he wasn’t okay. He had been sent on this mission anyway. He was the best Command had to offer, and they knew it. And so he sat here now, on the roof of the squat building, legs swinging over the abyss. In the dark.

Always in the dark.

Okay! Time to get back into this 😋

I’m not 100% sure how this is going to work, but I’ll figure it out

You both would need to discuss the matter with the psychologist. All I do is look at old buildings and stuff.

None of us will know cuz it’s a blackout and the GM LIES :P

So, not sure how many people here have actually read Annihilation, but I'm wondering if reading between the lines that we don't necessarily want to execute someone today. There's only one public win condition: figure out what's happening in Area X. Nothing about needing to stop those unable to continue with the expedition or even those actively hostile to it. Perhaps getting an early role flip would help, but it may also prove nothing.

That, and the only person I think would make sense to exe immediately is KelsierApologist, because flipping Polly is fun the psychologist is perhaps the most immediately dangerous. But I also doubt things would be that obvious. (And, as someone who's thought about making a public-role-name 16 Shards Game, trying to figure out the proper way not to have all the players just always exe Odium D1 is... uh, complicated :P)

I can make another player explore the same location as me

You seem overly anal-retentive

You must have developed a fixation during the anal stage of your life

Yup

And there’re two sides to this

Polly is prob the most powerful person here, so if she IS an elim, then she is a dangerous threat

But on the other hand, if she ISN’T an elim, then she’s a valuable asset to us villas

I don’t really want to claim role abilities. Besides the potential for people lying, it could also just create a hit list for the elims to take powerful roles down one by one

Don’t love how aggressive @RoyalBeeMage is being

@Ashbringer, do we really not need to exe the elims to win? I haven’t scoured the rules well, but if so, we don’t want to waste lives considering the small amount of us there are

As team leader, Jaz considered it her role to lead by example and meet with the team psychologist first.

Of course, she also considered it her role to know the results of everyone's psychological evaluations.

"Look, I get that you don't want to tell us, but can't you just tell me?" she wheedled. "I promise I won't tell any of the others. Besides, it's practically part of my job to know these things!"

@Ashbringer Thank you for pointing out the thing about the wincon.

I would very much like it if we didn't kill a person tonight.

Check the rules - there’s only one current wincon listed. There may not even be Elims, although there likely will be something. Could be someone gets unfit / Brightness and becomes the other faction. Who knows really

Maybe we are dealing with the insane… it looks like we need to explore to find the real wincon

Yeah, I think the fact that it's only 7 of us makes me think we don't really need to decrease it further. We'll see how it goes in the first cycle and reconvene.

On the other hand, not sure what we can talk about today other than speculating about the game.
