I fear I relate way too much to that. My guinea pigs are sometimes the only things that keep me going when things get REALLY bad but I don't actually want to die, I haven't since I got them and that was three years ago. I have a lot of passive stuff (I wish I wasn't alive but I don't want to die) but I think it's manageable.

The approval part is so... yeah. I'm a recovering people pleaser/validation seeker and it was... messy. Don't be like me guys! I've started validating myself a ton and appreciating the small things I do (since no one else really does) and I think that helped a TON. Also therapy.

Yeah I hate myself too. It's weird because I don't hate-hate myself (except for on the rare occasion) but a lot of it is guilt related and such. Like to a Wayne extent. I don't know what I do bedsides try not to think about it?

I just relate to that so heavily. Storms.

I'm doing the best I have in years yet this stuff is always lurking in the back of my mind.

I'm so proud of you!! You got this!! I know how hard it is, 6 days is amazing.

SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you do any specific exercises? Or do you have any tips (besides not intentionally yanking them because mine also slide partially out of the socket. At least it doesn't really hurt..?) My wrist honestly feels like it might be partially out but I can't tell. Do any of your other joints do it too or just shoulders? And do you feel like its getting worse or better over time? (Sorry for all of the questions, I've never met anyone who had the same thing of general hypermobility but specifically shoulder subluxation issues. Canoeing fixed my shoulders for me but over the winter I (obivously) wasn't canoeing so they're bad again. I need to find more upper body stuff I enjoy (when my wrist stops hurting). Also random but when you sleep do you have to position yourself very deliberately so none of your joints feel wrong or have too much pressure on them? Or is that just me.

___________________________________________________________________

Sorry if this is too ranty I'm tired and stressed

The majority of exercise I do to improve them is HEMA long sword drills and sparring, which also helped my wrists a lot. Other than that, pull ups, chin ups and push ups to help with the shoulders and those first two are also good for wrists/fingers. I've also done some... I don't know the proper name; you k now those rings from the Olympics? The ones that hang from the ceiling and you can do all sorts of flippy and suspending things? I've worked with those for a while and it helps. I'm careful not to pull on the shoulders too much while dong it, but it helps.

All of my joints are at least slightly hypermobile, with my shoulders, hips, neck, and fingers being the worst (When I flex my hands the right way it looks like something out of a horror movie, and I can dislocate my thumb enough to slide my hand out of handcuffs). I worked hard to strengthen my ankles and wrists especially early on, to avoid spraining/dislocating them much, but kept them flexible, so I have a huge advantage of almost not being able to damage my ankles severely cause they can just take it.

I feel like some joints are getting worse, but most have gotten a bit better.

YES. the sleeping position problem. I spend 15 minutes getting into the perfect position. Then I thrash randomly in my sleep and wake up sore. I've been told I sound like a 40 year old.

I'll give my mini speech before i go to sleeps xD

The main thing is that people will do exercise, but not get enough protein or sleep. For example, in a study comparing lifters getting 6 hours of sleep to 8, the people who got 6 had 50% less muscle growth than the 8hr peeps

And generally you wanna shoot for 0.7g of protein per pound of bodyweight for maximum muscle gain (ya ain't gotta track all your macros n stuff, but just generally shoot to eat a lot of protein)

And if ya want specific exercise suggestions for weights/calisthenics, I have plenty.

Hybrid Calisthenics is a great website/channel for calisthenics, and Jeff Nippard is probably the best source for weightlifting knowledge

Fun fact: my doctor told me my joint problems were normal because she gets them... she's an adult, I'm a junior in high school. I don't understand her logic.

For some reason my hips are not mobile at all which kind of sucks but I don't have to worry about them at least? But I really need to strengthen my wrists and ankles, Hockey helps with the ankles I think. I wish I could do HEMA so bad...

Can you do the pushing down on your thumb thing so it touches your wrist? (If you google wrist hypermobility it comes up)

For sleeping, I always do a tuck thing where I nestle my neck like kinda on my pillow so I'm on my side but there is no pressure on my neck and hips. I (thankfully) don't roll in my sleep because pain aside, rolling in the wrong direction would cause me to fall off of my loft bed. I also like to take an additional pillow and stick it behind me so I'm kind of more cornered in my positioning? I also keep both of my hands close to my chest so they're not moving around.

The only reason I don't work out more is i have to eat alot of sugar to combat the loss of blood sugar that I do when working out. Then that gets confusing with the protein, and carbs. That and low blood sugar kills my muscles and stops me from being able to move properly.  So..

Basically I'm wondering what advice you got on having to eat sugar too... does that affect it?

Sorry if these questions sound dumb. I dunno really much about ... anything in this topic.

They ain't dumb! I don't know much bout sugar/blood sugar, since I just track my protein and calories and nothin else xD But u could definitely ask your doctor about it.

*sigh*

I'm gonna pester my mom until she will actually take me to the doctor to get help for it.

She says "ill do it" then doesn't do it.

And we have yet to catch my sugar down. But I got all da symptoms. And its an issue cause it causes struggles in school.

MOTHER JUST TAKE ME TO THE DOCTOR PLEASE.

*sighs again*

Thanks for the advice.

you do HEMA??

That's so cooool

I also have hypermobility issues

It kinda sucks. It's the reason I got injured in gymnastics. I'm on a rock climbing team now and it's way better. My joints don't hurt all the time anymore lol

dunno how to explain to people that my mental health is terrible, but no i don't want to die or kms, i love my friends and i know how much they appreciate me, i've come to terms with that my family will never give me all the approval i need and understand that i don't need them to say they're proud of me, i love being alive and the world, and i don't want to hurt myself

i just genuinely hate myself and there's nothing that will really ever stop that. i don't think i'll want to kms out of self-loathing ever again, that feeling sucks, and i don't want to hurt myself because i hate myself. i just don't really like myself. i think i'm smart, i think i'm great at a lot of things, i think i'm really pretty too, but that doesn't change the thoughts my brain sneaks in. i bear no ill will towards myself, but the heart and the head are always a little bit disconnected

Oof, yeah… that’s hard. I don’t know how healthy it is, but I also tend to shove away many of my problems (like my eternal existential crisis) by simply not thinking about them. The downside of this is that it’s almost like becoming a different person; everyone around me just sees me like, a smart, innocent, happy kid and doesn’t understand what I’m going through.

I’ve never really wanted to KMS, but that’s probably because of my thanatophobia and apeirophobia (fear of death and oblivion, self diagnosed but pretty sure it’s there), one of the things I’ve been suppressing. Like, when I was younger, a simple thought about death would send my brain spiraling into much deeper thoughts about oblivion, making my heart beat faster, my palms sweaty and keeping me awake at night. Nowadays, however, I have suppressed these thoughts to the level where I can talk about it without actually thinking about it, if that makes sense. But is this real progress? Or will it just re-emerge later?

Also, on a different note: Winter break? Falling asleep 6 hours ago? Where do you guys live? 😶

OMG WAIT YOU HAVE THE OBLIVION FEAR TOOOOO. Sometimes when I try to fall asleep it's less like dozing off, and more like I'm just shutting off and floating around in space and it's so scary that I end up waking myself up out of fear. Also triggered by laughing gas when I have to have a tooth sealed...

Hmm… well, something that went well for me last week was that I attended an MUN conference in Rome and was the only person in my school to get TWO awards.

And something that I did that I liked was that I got to do a lot of tourism in Rome cause of the conference.

What about you? Going to answer your own question? 🧐

Last week I went to Rome with my family and had a lot of fun! I currently live in another city for studies, so seeing them even a bit was really cool.

Maybe I even passed by @Hoid_Slayer without knowing

I can’t speak for @Just A Silvereye, but with my group I saw the Pantheon, the Colosseum and we explored the Roman Forum, but without a tour guide so I don’t actually know what we were looking at.
