Lumpspren Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I might be the only Cosmere fan in NC. Anyways, let's describe The Way of Kings poorly! -Sad man vs his feelings during a hurricane and a lady tries to rob a magic princess. Meanwhile a prince hallucinates 3

I try, I'm a bartender that rants to anyone that will listen about the cosmere. Haven't gotten anyone to pick up any of the books though I made a Cosmere Guide ePub that I give to coworkers that may be interested (though it probably helps if they are already "readers") and I keep an extra copy of the first book of a few different series (Cosmere and non-Cosmere) available for people that want to borrow one and try the first book without needing to invest money to find out if they like the series (many do, and buy their own copies). Bartending might be a different environment, especially talking to customers rather than coworkers. I also have a word file of recommended reading that I print out, so I can give one or more pages to somebody that seems interested. The pages I made are: Non-Fiction, General Fiction - Stand-alone, Fiction - Series, Speculative Fiction - Stand-alone, Speculative Fiction- Series (ongoing), Speculative Fiction- Series (completed) - so if somebody indicates interest in one or more pages, I can hand them the sheet to take with them. The summaries I use are very similar to the way the Recommended Reading thread is set up (Series, Book 1 title, Author, Complete or not, and a short blurb). Example: Spoiler Stand Alone: - Wildside Steven Gould Set in the 1980s o It's another world, a pristine Earth where mammoths and saber-toothed tigers still roam. Where there are no cities, no highways, no pollution, no laws...no people at all. It lies just beyond the heavy wooden door, hidden in the back of the old barn, through a tunnel that enters a hillside in South Texas but doesn't come out the other side. It belongs to Charlie, a recent high school graduate. A whole world accessible only through the doorway on the ranch that his uncle left to him free and clear. But to explore a planet, you need help. And equipment. And money to buy the equipment, and to pay off the aviation training you need to explore a completely wild world. Not sure if any of those might help you.
