TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Honestly, Sandman opens up a lot of intriguing opportunities in the RP, just with seeing what different characters fear the most. Would Remington dream about Koschei? Would Panacea dream of a world filled with beaten and battered people? What under Calamity would Funtimes dream about? I'm still wondering if this is canon, and whether Backtrack should notice it next time he's in Portland. Remington: probably Koschei as dictator of Oregon, maybe with Nighthound as his lieutenant and Lightwards as his Starscream. Panacea: yes, with her wearing Koschei's cloak and circlet. Funtimes: will be revealed when she meets Quota. Would Lightwards dream of Möbius, or everyone who ever killed him? I vote yes. 1
Voidus Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Is it likely that Soulswitch would recognize Remington? Given that he was part of Koschei's group. Edited October 17, 2014 by Voidus
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Is it likely that Soulswitch would recognize Remington? Depends. How often did they run into each other?

I think I'm going to have Remington's nightmare too. It's very possible that Lightwards would have those flashbacks again. Möbius, Subbly, and Quickslide would feature prominently; he might also have a more basic nightmare about being trapped in the dark void he goes to before he resurrects. In any case, it would be a very distressing experience that would make him very murderous upon awakening. "Soulswitch?" "Yes, Backtrack?" "I just had two questions I wanted to ask you. First: were you a panda a few weeks ago?" "A--a panda?" "Yeah. You were annoyed because zombies trashed your house." "Uh... no. Sorry Backtrack. That wasn't me. What was your second question?" "I was hoping I wouldn't have to use this one." Backtrack gulped. "Are there any mental institutions left in Oregon? I need to check myself in." 3

Just what Backtrack needs, to meet another Epic who worked for Koschei 1

You know, I took this great stress management class back when I was getting my AA degree. Do you think Lightwards would go if I referred him? Now I'm wondering: would Backtrack see Koschei, or scenes from his pre-Calamity days? 1
Kobold King he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Koschei's dead. It's just a nightmare. You know, I took this great stress management class back when I was getting my AA degree. Do you think Lightwards would go if I referred him? Now I'm wondering: would Backtrack see Koschei, or scenes from his pre-Calamity days? He probably would go, but I hope you don't have much attachment to the current instructor. He/she might be a little more Warrior-y by the end of the semester. I guess that depends on whether Sandman strips people down to their core to see their deepest fears, or if he simply picks whatever happens to be plaguing them the most at a specific point. At the moment Backtrack is extremely terrified of Koschei, Lightwards, and Nightound. However, he's spent most of his post-Calamity life being terrified of some Epic or another. At his core, the thing that terrifies him most is being rejected and disrespected. There's a pretty solid chance of him seeing an unrequited crush from his high school days telling him his sunglasses look stupid. As for other characters... Sam would see either Quasar or CorpseMaker. Probably CM, since he's still alive and she has a fairly solid chance of running into him again. Revolution would see her home community going up in flames, and Aldo the Enigmatic would see a crowd booing him off stage. 2
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 What, killing dozens, if not hundred of people while skydiving isn´t entertaining? Because he did that just yesterday. Wha? When did he do this? Joe, I sent you a pm with questions about the Reckoners. And Corpsemaker curses with the word Eyes? That's pretty creepy. When he's Really mad, he says Sightless Eyes. Sightline says Shattering Glass. Not sure for Gordon or Murphy yet. 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 And there goes my plan for the MEE attack. I like this plan. Particularly since TT will be helped in the process. Don't worry. I'll get her back if Altermind has to order her back at the start of the meeting, if necessary. It still surprises you that Nighthound is interested in murder? Yeah, there are a lot of secret plans being bandied about. I've been involved in... let me count 'em... six different confidential PM discussions this past month, all devoted to varying degrees of Oregon conspiracy. I've slowly become more and more paranoid about what secrets are lurking in other players' inboxes. Unrelated, but I found a secondary icon for Lightwards POVs. It's perfect. There's that many? ... I'm not very involved then. I have a couple of Pms where I traded weaknesses, one with background for the Reckoners , and the only one with a plan: the one with plans for the Corpsemaker war. I hope the RP is still going by St. Patrick's Day 2015. Because methinks I have the perfect celebration saved to my computer now. As long as January 6th doesn't ruin the RP, I don't see why not. Alright, so I am in the process of working up a new Team Paladin post. Problem is, it's getting rather long. At what point should I bite the bullet and split it into two posts? Also, I have roughly 8 posts or so left until Team Paladin reaches The Dalles. I think it's time to start thinking (at least in general terms, because 8 posts is rather far away) about how they should interact there. Any thoughts on how to bring them in? I'm also voting aye on the long post. Wha? When did he do this? When he's Really mad, he says Sightless Eyes. Sightline says Shattering Glass. Not sure for Gordon or Murphy yet. I really like those. That's cool! Twi, was that setup for Remington getting to thee you-know-who's? ;) I'm very excited for this. Now it's just Kobold's turn to do the same thing. 1

Now it's just Kobold's turn to do the same thing. * stares dumbly at the screen * Um, right. The thing. The thing that I am doing to set up the other thing. ... I don't quite remember what my part of the thing was. I think it involves [DATA EXPUNGED]? You should probably remind me in the PM thread, since I seem to be utterly brain dead here.
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Oh good. Attica's going to be one heck of a meeting. Edit: Reminder sent. Edited October 17, 2014 by Mailliw73
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I just wanted to say that if you think I'm taking the game in a direction you don't like, or if I'm god-modding, or doing anything in my posts that you don't think is good for the overall game, let me know and I'll change it.
Fatebreaker he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Wow, so much interest in sandman!max. I suppose I can elaborate somewhat. It would really depend on how deeply Max opens their minds. He could just scratch the surface, the most recent concerns and fears, or he could delve deep, hitting deep-seated fears and memories and the strongest emotions. The latter can often reveal fears that the dreamer wasn't aware of. We can have him put Nighthound to sleep, under Fade's orders. It would actually be in line with the execution plan. I should hold a poll for characters people most want to see in dream state. I wonder what a deep dream of Funtimes would look like...
Seonid he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) I haven't seen anything that you should be worried about on that score. As far as I'm concerned, you've been a great GM. Another question. As part of my post I'm about to put up, one character has a traumatic breakdown associated with past memories of abuse. Should I put a trigger warning up with the post? [EDIT:] And here we go! Even longer than I thought. 5 viewpoints! I decided to forgo the trigger warning. If you folks think that it might need it, I can always edit Linda's part into spoilers and put a TL:DR summary after it. Edited October 17, 2014 by Seonid
Voidus Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 So who still needs to wrap up before the time skip?
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 That would be dark. Little Sandman has quite the potential for shining spotlights on other characters' deepest fears. I vote he does this to Nighthound as soon as possible. I don´t think Nighthound even has a deepest fear... Fact: Nighthound is a creepiness Feruchemist, capable of storing his innate creep factor and unleashing concentrated amounts of it on choice occasions. Actually that can´t be, a feruchemist must store his attribute before he can tap it, which means there would be times in which he is less creepy... unless he can compound creepyness. Ah. More plans, I see. I only have two "plans" in which you aren´t involved. One is the backery scene and the other is about the MEE attack in TT, which isn´t as detailed as I might have made it ound. The others, which I think y are also two, you know about. Maybe VG decides to leave after her second encounter with Nighthound? No one would blame her. I'd leave after my first. True and in the worst case scenario she could just jump out of the museum, anyway I doubt she would leave Ray alone unless Altermind orders her back, so that sounds like the better plan. Wha? When did he do this? When he's Really mad, he says Sightless Eyes. Sightline says Shattering Glass. Not sure for Gordon or Murphy yet. In the armory raid, you might not remember because at the time you were on a break and gave me control over Corpsemaker. I just wanted to say that if you think I'm taking the game in a direction you don't like, or if I'm god-modding, or doing anything in my posts that you don't think is good for the overall game, let me know and I'll change it. Don´t worry, as our resident nitpicker I´ll probably start wailing around, while foaming from my mouth and giving uniteligable sounds from me, in case someone god-modes, which I hope hasn´t happen yet. So who still needs to wrap up before the time skip? The bakery scene with Lucentia and Lightwards. 1
Voidus Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm going to start PMing people about the MEE attacks soon, so if anyone wants to add someone to any of the strike teams let me know. And Twi, all your posts are incredimazing and I think everyone's been really good with not god-modding. *Insert thumbs-up smiley which we don't have here*

Why must you do something like that? 1

Tulir he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Re: Seonid's The Dalles post: My reaction exactly. I am liking Guardian even more now, though, as an upside from that post. 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 My reaction exactly. I am liking Guardian even more now, though, as an upside from that post. You like Guardian more because Paladin killed a crying little girl? (That´s what happend, right?)
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 You like Guardian more because Paladin killed a crying little girl? (That´s what happend, right?) Um...maybe he was using the sword to cut her a piece of cake? *hopeful smile* 1
Seonid he/him Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) I think what he is saying is that the portions of the post that were from Guardian's viewpoint made him appreciate Guardian more as a character. And to answer the question, Paladin attempted (we will find out soon that Ghostknife doesn't die so easily) to kill a 16-year old girl. In his defense (if it can be called a defense), she had been trying to kill him only seconds before, and did manage to do significant damage to him. But it was still a monstrous thing for him to do. Her viewpoint is probably the hardest thing I've ever written. I'm still not sure if I like it. It's emotionally powerful, and it underscores just how far Paladin has gone. But I fear it may have put him beyond the point of no redemption, and I'm not sure I wanted that. As far as my choice to write it...I'm not quite sure, really, if it was a good thing to do or not. I felt that it was the single most effective thing I could do, short of a mass slaughter of innocents, to show Dark!Paladin at the worst he's been yet since he became an Epic, so that the contrast after he dies (he's a resurrection Epic, so it doesn't stick) will be greater. Her brief flashback also brought out Ironmonger as a despicable human being, even for an Epic, which will be foreshadowing for when Ironmonger starts to play a role in the plot here. He's somebody that I hope Vondra and Quicksilver might be willing to consider allying temporarily to defeat. But that will be up their characters to decide how they react to the threat.
