“I need to do something. How do I help Dil?”

You find a way around the magical barrier that the man is using.

He stopped responding.

Sono focused, then wrote, not to him or to Dilsha, but on the wall directly in the cell.

HELLO CHILD OF DECAY

HELLO CHILD OF DECAY

This did not work. They had no sense of the features of the room the two were in.

Sono focused again, then simply turned around and left, leaving bloodstains all over the wall.

She doesn't matter, the architect thought, she really doesn't. And nothing you can do can save her.

Unless...

What if I went to the Monarchy and told them about this... Incident?

She wrote this to Dilsha, but knew the other person would see it anyways.

They sent me to arrest this person. They didn't know who it was, but I did my job. It would not bring anything down on me. It could cause more problems for international relations, but in that case the blood is on your hands.

I don't want to hear whether it would cause international problems. Because it would be your fault.

Sono started walking towards the palace, clutching her bloody arm.

I don't see how that is the case.

Alex follows, confused. “So how do I help?”

You get to explain to the Monarchy what happened. I am simply the witness.

It did not blind him. What was your goal, there?

"A war is coming regardless, Stranger. All that's left is to choose which side you'll be on."

Don't, Dilsha sent sharply. That would be bad.

He sighed again. You want me to heal you?

I would be fine with that.

Would you choose not to needlessly kill thousands of of pettiness?

I still would, as that is the truth that I must tell.

Would you have healed me if I lied? Would that have made you feel better?
