Shadowspren he/him Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 So I live in Australia right, and this week is reading week at school during which they allow us to dress up as out favorite book character for assembly. Therefore my girlfriend and I are going as Vin and Kelsier in our mistcloaks. So far my friends and I have converted a few more people to being Sanderfans bringing the total at our school to about 15. Hopefully we can get some more converts when we show off our awesome Mistborn skills. 7
Fatebreaker he/him Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If you really wanted to bring attention to Brandon's work, you would dress up as a mistwraith. 2
Argent he/him Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If you really wanted to bring attention to Brandon's work, you would dress up as a mistwraith. And eat people. 9
Tien'sPetLurg she/her Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Are you making mist cloaks? Maybe you could snap a picture of those. (definitely don't do anything to ruin your privacy though...especially if you are a minor, kthx)I saw one on Etsy once. It's gone now. It sounds like you guys are going to have a lot of fun.
Newan he/him Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Your girlfriend is a Sanderfan? Flirt to convert. Heh heh. 1
Left he/him Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well I'm pleased to announce that I just got another convert Recommended a friend Steelheart, they quite enjoyed it, can't wait for FireFight and are interested in The Way of Kings.
Shadowspren he/him Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Your girlfriend is a Sanderfan? Flirt to convert. Heh heh. Yeah mate, I converted her before we started going out and she went absolutely crazy reading all of Brandon's books. She is like my own little Vin... short, and somewhat shy, but very dangerous. She has martial arts experience, so I am glad she doesn't have allomancy as well... I don't know if I could keep up
Argent he/him Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah mate, I converted her before we started going out and she went absolutely crazy reading all of Brandon's books. She is like my own little Vin... short, and somewhat shy, but very dangerous. She has martial arts experience, so I am glad she doesn't have allomancy as well... I don't know if I could keep up Becoming an emperor might help you that. I do my own work on Reddit these days (though occasionally I would meet someone gullible enough to let me stick a copy of The Emperor's Soul in their hands). I just can't seem to find many reader friends, regardless of genre - people don't read these days 3
kaladamSB he/him Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 It's true Argent. I'm lucky enough that in my zone at work there are 5 of us that are fantasy fans. So I have a couple people to talk books with all day at least.
Shadowspren he/him Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Alright, so myself as High Emperor Elend Venture and my girlfriend as Empress Vin Venture, The Hero of Ages did not work out as well as I had hoped... These primitive minds do not know the power and majesty of mistborn. But oh well, we will continue converting.
Argent he/him Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Executions. That ought to teach them. Burn a few Twilight fans or something. 4
wordspren Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 With the help of some others, my best friend recently started reading Sanderson. She's not sure what she thinks yet, but I'm confident that reading Elantris will help convert her. My sister just finished reading The Final Empire. She loved it. And I'm starting my other sister off young, with Alcatraz and The Rithmatist.
Atilium she/her Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) I got converted to Sanderson and Rothfuss by my sisters ex, who turned out to be a total douche. Damnation. He might be a jerk but he has good book tastes! But other than that, I have only managed to successfully convert two people, my mother and my best friend's brother. Nobody seems very interested in the tomes I offer :/ Edited August 28, 2014 by Atilium
The truthwatcher he/him Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I have converted one person and I'm working on a second. However he's not reading the copy of Elantris we gave him. Storm it!
Dellexe he/him Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I've converted one of my friends and his brother. More will follow. - On a semi-related note, should I be Vasher or Spook for this Halloween?
mail-mi he/him Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 (edited) I've tried to convert my friend to sanderson. She absolutely refuses to read everything I give her... ...well, except, of course, the teen romance novel I showed her at the library one day. Why must that genre exist?? WHY???? Edited September 5, 2014 by mail-mi
BreathTaker he/him Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 I converted my sister-in-law and I my co-worker has basically read the books by being around me. He's interested in the magic systems and story but when I let him borrow a book he didn't read it so I don't know what's going on.
Delightful Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I've converted one of my friends and his brother. More will follow. - On a semi-related note, should I be Vasher or Spook for this Halloween? My vote is for Vasher, it'll be easier to see than if you're Spook. And you could wear some brightly coloured clothes and other grey clothes, or lots of scarves or something cool for Awakening. Plus a massive black sword you get to lug around, whisper in people's ears and then blame it all on Nightblood.... 1
Left he/him Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Or if you're a big muscular guy, just wear a vest and be Hammond
Dellexe he/him Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Or if you're a big muscular guy, just wear a vest and be Hammond - Skinny guy with glasses. - That's why I'm seriously considering being Spook. 1
Curiosity he/him Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 You could try Renarin, but the Shardplate would be hard. And we don't know his spren yet....
Anarkitty she/her Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I converted my entire household, at least the ones who can read. It's a pretty geeky household, though, so my job was not difficult.
