Shades that Arc runs towards will notice him, whereas the ones nearby Arma will notice Arma instead

I think the knife is silver, so maybe that will do something. To be fair though, Arma only ran for like, a little bit. So idk how many shades will be going after them, but I imagine it's not an overwhelming amount. Unless they just immediately go to any running as fast as possible, then it's very likely Arma is dead.

Rask (and probably Quill) turns back from the shade horde and returns to the eastern shelter.
