“Evalyn Basilica called it the Belowplace. I prefer to call them the Glowing Hallways, unwieldy as that is.”

His nightingale hopped off his shoulder into the air and snapped at the little blue firefly lights. They parted so she could fly through them.

". . . Who?"

Lerac grimaced, but nodded. "TAAron has a lot of magical energy. More than I've sensed in any mortal except one. I already knew that, but now it feels... different."

“I don’t think you’d know her. I hardly know her myself. She goes by Haly, usually.” He reached up and ran his fingers through the firelights.

She watched the lights curiously. "Oh."

“Be careful not to come here unless I’m with you, though. Or Haly. Unless one of us are around, you’ll… probably just ram into the floor.”

"Not anyone you know. The point is, before it was just energy attached to him. It accumulated around him because he is the last thing remaining in the universe from his home world, right?"

TAAron nodded, uneasy.

"But now it feels more... attuned. Not just a wealth of energy, but an almost unified power. You get that with certain magic users. It happens a lot with elementals, for example. Or people whose powers are associated with gods. But for that to change is very rare."

She suppressed a laugh at that.

"Makes sense," she said quietly, smiling.

“It does, I guess.” He paused in front of a warm-colored dark wooden door. “Should be the right one. Shall we?”

"Yes. But any gods associated with TAAron's magic are dead and gone. That's why I'm concerned."

“Yeah…”

1 minute ago, Through The Living Glass said:

"I . . . where does that go? Shouldn't we be gathering the last few other people?"

He looked surprised. “I just wanted to check in on them… I didn’t realize you wanted to come with me still.”

He opened the door to a warmly lit barn interior. Some fires were going in little pits and there were plenty of chairs and hay bales, along with snack tables. A small group had started dancing in the middle.

"Well . . . they look safe."

"TAAron's power may want to form something more cohesive, or attach to him more fully. Uh, that is to say... he could become a god."

TAAron gaped at Lerac, at a complete loss for words.

Haly’s mouth opened.

“Wh… a… god?”

"He has the energy of two gods and a whole world within him. And magical power can often have its own intent or tendency in manifesting."

Trevor flinched and decided to hide behind the desk.

Aventine cried out and fell against Elan.

Elan caught her, helping her balance and stay on her feet. “Hide?”

The armies entered the clinic, weapons out. “Fire at will.”

I’m guessing he’s referring to Wynn?

Trevor forced himself to be silent. What a help he was.

”And not too long ago-“

Kio shot up. “Ma’am, something’s wrong.”

The annoying girl rolled her eyes. “Come on-“

”Just a moment,” Skysong said to her, and turned to Kio. “What’s the last thing you ate?”

A shadow fell over his face and his eyes darkened. “Buttered. Bread.”

Skysong’s eyes widened and she pushed a button on her desk. The whiteboard slid apart to reveal a bunker with adamantium reinforced walls. “Everyone inside. Now.”

I don't think Wynn is technically mortal, is she?

“But…”

A god? He was gonna be a god?

Wait, Wynn? Did someone steal Ranryu’s character?

No. Spark of Hope was just asking if Wynn was the mortal Lerac knew with more magical energy than TAAron.

"I know it's a lot. I could be wrong."
