The currents slowed, then stilled. I am sorry.

Jinx was silent, trying to stop shaking.

The points of light began falling like snow, landing on them but not having any apparent substance.

Jinx watched them, wary and scared.

I hope you... hurt less.

That won't happen. She thought, unsure if the lights could hear her.

Tal winced. "Wow, we really are bad at small talk...books. What about books? Do you read?"

Tal's World which I should probably name at some point

There was still no response.

"yes i love to read! what books have you read recently? i just started reading this book about mind reading that elan gave me!"

Tal raised an eyebrow at Elan. “Really…that’s very interesting. I read a little of everything.”

The voice was quiet. The last points of light began vanishing.

Clinic: Ash's Office

Ash had kept rocking Jinx through the conversation. But she had been so focused on listening that she hadn't realized the lights were disappearing.

She looked up and realized they were leaving.

"Wait! I can help both of you. That's my job. I'm a doctor. My job is to fix people. I just need to know a little more. Don't go yet!"

I... don't know. They broke me.

Clinic: Ash's Office

Ash nodded again. "Okay. I'm gonna use something to scan and see what I need to do okay? It shouldn't hurt you."

A golden beam of light, about 2 feet long, moved around and through the different points of light.

Alright my friend what do we got?

One moment.

Ash is like Insa and Bookwyrm where they have a sponsor god who lends them powers. Ash's is one of healing. That's where the magic doing the scans is coming from.

What sort of things do you want to show after the scans?

It's some sort of spirit, a conscious entity with no physical form. Not a ghost. Also, not very cohesive. It seems to have been badly damaged, probably lost a lot of its essence, leaving it sort of... scattered?

Pic whistled a tune and the staves glowed blue and flew between everyone's hands, removing the dirt.

"Where did Lundyn go?" he asked the group.

Jar Man tries to catch the staves out of the air for no reason.

She burned tin and the nausea came back. The added nausea wasn't as bad as before, but with the bit leftover from burning the pewter... Plus, with the tin enhancing her senses...

She turned green. "I... think I hear... something..."

Jar Man perks up. "Hm?"
