It takes Ninth heightening, or 20,000 breaths(hey that's skip capacity) in order to awaken steel.

The equivalent of human soul seems a bit much when talking about how much you need for steelpushing etc., and "0,001 BEU" seems inconvinient.

Right, but spheres are not standardized (with regards to investiture storage), so at a minimum you would need Chip, Mark and Broam (assuming the different gems do not change capacity | e. g. does a diamond chip and an emerald chip store the same amount of stormlight when fully recharged), maybe making them the equivalent of Nickels, Dimes and Quarters. SbEU? The amount of investiture in a human soul also changes from planet to planet. But I think that your average human does not contain that much investiture. Maybe like 5 broams to a BEU? 1
