Great catch!!!!      Add to that  - Rlain was able to find a new Bridge 4 uniform to fit his new bigger body in just a few hours or less.     I'm sure that all the Bridge 4 guys with Delinar would have had extras and surely a few would have been close to Kal's size  -  especially if Rlain was able to find one.

By the time Kaladin left, most of the people from the war camps had come to Urithiru. No doubt they brought their stuff with them.

I think this particular scene must be an oversight from Brandon.

My guess- I think he mentions the change of clothes to accentuate Kal's precarious predicament. He looks like a deserter. If he was wearing the specialized uniform of a lighteyed(!) officer of the Kholin Honor Guard, he would have some instant authority wherever he went in Alethkar. Maybe not real authrity, but more credibility. A deserter would not be able to steal a uniform like that. People might think twice about what he says, and be more open to accepting him as a leader. At least they would be less likely to assume he stole the spheres (and shardblade) he's carrying.

As for continuity - he should have gone through several uniforms by now. Szeth ruined one coat when he first showed up, and then there's the chasm trek. Being drenched in Chasm-fiend saliva just can't be good for the fabric.

Is the everstorm more powerful than normal highstorms? Because normal highstorm loses much of it's strength by the time it reaches shinovar and totally breaks over the mountain range there.

But in this excerpt we see the everstorm blowing away roofs, even though alethkar is all the way in the east, and it had to cross the shin mountain range.

Well, another thing to remember is that every building is built with a stronger eastern side. They are lower and stronger on that side and when the storms come, everything is all battened down for the storm. Other buildings are built in laits on the leeward side of rock formations and mountains, so they don't have to be strong. So if you can imagine an unexpected highstorm blowing the wrong way against buildings not built to stand up to winds from that direction, it's not a surprise that stuff is getting wrecked.

This is probably an awkward way to make a first post, I just want to say that the discussion re: Kaladin/depression was one I found fascinating. Well, compelling. Either one, really, and either way, I'd also put it to you that the discussion re:difficulty of making a point without the use of voice inflection/body language/etc was also...so.

Maybe after the everstorm strikes Kaladin's father is wounded and is saved by Roshone. that could be a good cause for Kaladin to forgive him.

Also what will happen between Kaladin and the old city lord's daughter, He did after all get a shardblade and Become a lighteyes?

Also how will Kaladin feel about his father stealing the spheres now that he has bonded an honor spren?

Roshone definitely doesn't seem like someone to go out of his way to save others, especially since he hated (or at least strongly disliked) Lirin from the very beginning. My guess is that it'll rather be other way around - Lirin saving Roshone from wounds (and quite possibly everyone else in the village who needs healing - seriously, my headcanon is that Kaladin will arrive in Hearthstone and help his father with the wounded before doing anything else).

And he didn't become a lighteyes, not really. His eyes turn blue because of stromlight of wielding Syl as a weapon, otherwise they're still brown. And by now Laral is most definitely married to Roshone (maybe even having his child) so I don't expect any cliche reunion (I definitly don't want to see that), expecially since their last meeting face to face didn't go too well.

As for the spheres... Didn't Lirin mention that the citylord was to give him the spheres anyway, but didn't really do this because of his illness? I may be msitaken about it. But still, I see it like this: what Lirin did was against the law, but he only wanted a good life for his son, so since nobody was hurt due to his actions he didn't do anything really wrong. And Syl is concerned about what is right or wrong, not about the law (it's the thing of Naln and the Skybreakers - they would surely condemn Lirin), so I don't think it'll be a problem. Besides, I know it's whole lot of money, but Kaladin did say that he's going to pay Laral back as soon as he can (and with him holding a high military rank it's possible sooner or later) and I believe Syl would take this into consideration.

Just to throw an alternative perspective on Kaladin - As someone struggling with depression at the moment, Kaladin's chapters get me down.

It's a fairly realistic depiction, but I'm not sure that's a particularly good thing.  For most people, depression is tedious (as identified by others above).  For a good chunk of the rest, it's the sort of thing we're reading to get away from.

Definitely hope Kaladin can get distracted by something cheerier, and focus on it for a while.  Because I'm considering skipping his chapters when I re-read WoR, and I don't think I could take another book of him moping.

I'm fairly certain that Kaladin's roll in the next book is going to have a lot more to do with struggling as a leader, going by the fact that as a Wind Runner that's where his Oaths are heading. It's not that his other issues are just going to go away, they'll just be less encompassing because he has other things to do, and he has started to at least partially work through them.

Kal is worried that the parshmen in Hearthstone became void bringer and rampaged during the everstorm. But void bringers come in several flavors. What about those whitespines the Roshones utterly failed to kill? Have they developed a taste for Alethies?

A nice battle with epic monsters is sure to cheer Kaladin up and shake him out of his moping. ;)

I though the Jasnah chapter was a deleted words of radiance chapter? Is this actually a possible book 3 chapter?

Actually it was part of a novella-length sequence that Brandon wrote so that he could work out what happened during her travels through Shadesmar.  Unfortunately he does not currently plan on releasing that.

Only he said something that made me think that he might. I don't remember what, only the impression it left on me.

Right, I remember. This thing I am thinking of came later - may have been something in the Oathbringer announcement.

Was it the fact that he is planning on writing and releasing a Stormlight novella for Spring-ish next year to help tide us over until Stormlight 3?  In which case it's not going to be the Jasnah one, he's going to write something new with a different character like Lopen or Lift.

I understand what Brandon is trying to do, but truth to be told, for those of us who have never suffered from depression, he is sometimes tedious to read. I have read enough comments from others on Kal to know I am far from the only one who feels this way about him.

Knowing he is a rightful representation of real-life depressed people does not make me enjoy reading some of his POV more. I understand or I think I do, but it is still painful to read. Mind, I still like Kal, I like  when he is pro-active, when he takes decisions and actions, when he is witty but when he gets overly grumpy and whiny, I just want to shake him   Especially since he has been depressed since what? Birth it seemed? Is it even realistic for someone to be this depressed from early childhood with no triggering events what so ever? Maybe it is, I honestly to do not know, but I just have a really, really, really hard time grasping it.

Kal is by far my favorite toon (behind Hoid, but hes not solely SA) because he feels so real to me. Shallan is the annoying one if you ask me. All she does is block out what she doesnt feel comfortable acknowledging. She only just became interesting (to me) halfway through WoR. I mean honestly, what would you be like watching everyone you try to protect die around you, while you constantly live on, to experience it again and again? Probably a little 'whiny' & 'grumpy', I'd bet.
