JustQuestin2004
So I just had a really weird thought about Feruchemy. Can someone store and tap from the same type of Metal? Like if a Steelrunner had two Steel bracers, could they store a quarter of their speed into each at the same time? Could they tap two Steelminds to up their speed by half the same time so it'd be equal to tapping one Steelmind for double speed but more efficient without the Diminishing Returns you'd normally get from Tapping over 50%? Am I on to something or am I just crazy? Or both?

I think it wouldn't work - just like you can't burn two different pieces of steel and be twice as powerful at coinshoting, I bet you can't store the same attribute in two different metalminds, or tap the same attribute from two different metalminds. I would say that once you start storing/tapping your attribute it would kind of get locked, preventing you from doing the same action with a different metalmind. But as I said, nobody asked Brandon about it, so my words are just speculations. But there might be a simple practical reason why this isn't used. If you could do that, while storing just 25% of attributes while you can store all 50% at once? You would get the same result by tapping 25% from 2 metalminds and 50% from one, and you can't really store more than a certain limit, without seriously endangering yourself and potentially killing yourself. It makes no sense to store 2x40% when you can just store 1x80%, and have the same result.

Eh, I agree that this doesnt seem like a viable route to gaming the system, but I think in some of the descriptions it does make it sound like folks are storing generically into their entire store, rather than having to cycle through specific metalminds. Gold especially, though to be fair instinct can supplement Intent some with that one. Anyway, I got the feeling a Person can only tap or store a specific amount of attribute but that they could use as few or as many of their metalminds as they held at the time. Otherwise Wax wouldnt have been blowing all his weight reserves for those really dramatic pushes, He'd be limited to just what was in a single metalmind (and I thought he used more than just the one).

You could store or tap using more than one metalmind at a time, but it wouldn't let you avoid diminishing returns. the increase to your attributes comes from the quantity of Investiture that you're using, so tapping 50% speed from two metalminds would have the same result, diminishing returns wise, as tapping one metalmind for 100%.

Wax had "the iron bracers he wore on his upper arms" but in TLM he had it placed inside his body - I guess as a single piece. In WoA Sazed specifically was not tapping his rings because he wanted to save them as a last resort. You can control from which metalminds you tap. I agree it's something what you said. The amount of metalminds you use won't matter, what matters is the amount of attributes you want to get. The investiture still needs to be compressed to get for example 3x strength, no matter how many metalminds you tap. Thus tapping from 6 metalminds which have 50% each will still compress that attribute to get it to 300%, and diminishing returns will be present. That makes sense.

Oh, I agree completely that you can control what metalmind you store or tap, and similarly even target your healing to specific spots with skill and/or Intent. I just dont think you are locked in to One and Only One Metalmind at a time, which would become a more specific restriction for the mechanization of Arts moving forward, and would also have implications on Compounding (and thus all the Fullborn Vs conversations). At least, not for the commodity investiture metalminds, for Copper and things that are more complex and cohesive, I assume they have to be stored Whole in a single metalmind (or if distributed they cannot be accessed without the whole set or some such).
