Tamriel Wolfsbaine Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 I feel like we see that Kelsier does not have allomancy despite his eye spike, but he does have steel sight. Do we know if the eye spikes are not allomantically charged for all inquisitors or if they do give iron and steel allomancy as well as the steel sight for some? I assume that the steel sight from eye spikes is more tied to the placement. I don't know that the same spike in another spot would have the steel sight effect. Is there a possibility of powers being given in addition to the steel sight? Could Kelsier have allomancy right now but it is so deteriorated due to time that it is unrecognizable?
Newly Awakened Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Well this WOB seems to state a different set of events: Spoiler rxience (paraphrased) Would a single spike be sufficient to staple a Cognitive Shadow to a mistwraith? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes, that could happen. rxience (paraphrased) Did that happen in the past? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) That's a RAFO, I'm afraid. Who are you thinking about? rxience (paraphrased) Kelsier of course! Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Well, he is somehow in the Physical Realm. And he does look like himself, doesn't he? Berlin signing (May 14, 2019) From what Brandon said, the spike Kelsier is using is a staple for his Cognitive Shadow onto a mistwraith with his bones. Unclear if it has any power attached, but Steelsight might be a trait all spikes through the eye grant. And from what Kesier thinks from his POV that he is no longer able to use Allomancy it is pretty clear that the spike doesn't contain any Allomantic power. 1

That was my interpretation, that any spike with a hemalurgic charge gives steelsight in the eye it is put through. So, it isn't a power that has to be actively put into the spike. What I do wonder, is why his is so damn good. We see from his perspective he can see even down to the fields around atoms, which we don't see when we are in Marsh's PoV in HoA. So, something weird is going on there.

I think that's just either interpretation or perception. Kel is aware that Axi exist and that's why he knows that he sees them. Marsh isn't, he thinks that he sees traces of metals while in truth those are Axi.

drunkenbotanist Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Kelsier's brief history as a shard definitely helps I feel
