Lord Tyrant?

I think I've missed something somewhere. Back in my days Kelsier & co. were fighting to overthrow the Lord Ruler, but I've seen him referred to as Lord Tyrant far more often. Was there another edition of the books before the YA ones (and on that note, what do the YA ones call him?)? Is it just a translation thing? I could see that happening. What's up with all this?

What language did you see 'Lord Tyrant' in? As far as I know he's always TLR, unless Tyrant is used sarcastically in later books or something.

I've only ever seen the Lord Ruler.  It's what his wiki page is called and it's what Brandon always refers to him as.

I think the problem comes from this Goodreads quote. All the references to "Tyrant" I can recall right now include it in some way.

I just thought it was what some people started calling him after the fall of the Final Empire. I know I've heard it but I can't remember where, actually isn't that what Kelsier called him?

Yeah, that was Kelsier being rude just before he got chest-speared, as "tyrant" is a tad more negative than "ruler."

Oh, he actually addressed him as "Lord Tyrant?" It's been ages since I read Mistborn, I must've misremembered the quote.

Kell calls TLR Lord Tyrant during their "fight" near the end of TFE, as a sign of disrespect. He is identified as the rightful and godly ruler of the Final Empire, and calling your gracious god a tyrant is kind of a slap in the face to his image. Didn't realize he used the term so often though.

He didn't. I just kept seeing that one quite in different places.

I think they started calling him Tyrant in alloy of law, because of cultural erosion and stuff.
